The actual music is absolutely fabulous. However, the packaging provided by Walmart did not provide any protection when this item was sent and the cases were demolished, broken plastic in the cases and all around the actual CD's. I bought two of this item, so I listened to all four of the CD's all of the way through to make sure they were not scratched. They were fine, so I decided not to return them. I explained to the recipients why their gifts had been opened and were in different cases. If they had been packaged for sending differently, there would not have been a problem.

I had heard the rave reviews from Broadway, but the style of music left me somewhat skeptical. I also am a lover of American history and feared how a musical would handle such important but complex historical currents. I was very pleasantly surprised. The music is accessible and understandable and carries the story. And while Hamilton certainly is not a documentary and puts words into people's mouths, it strives to respect history. I've listened to it three times already and will want to see it when the play comes back to town.

Absolutely superb encapsulation of every wonderful aspect of the play. "Best play I have ever seen in my life, or will ever see again"; exact quote from numerous friends and relatives, who have seen it at least once in D.C. recently; ranging in age from college to retired. They had to go out and buy more of these cd's because EVERYONE wanted to ride in the car with it playing and sing along; whether it be long trips, or just day to day. They called it the "Hamilton" car. Everyone has long since memorized every word, but the cast recording takes them back to the excitement of the theatrical experience.
I either love or hate musicals. Wicked was amazing but Hamilton is the best play Ive seen and these recordings are great. You have amazing singers and entertainers. Mr Miranda will tell you hes not a singer but he is an amazing writer plus he sings with such emotion he can hold his own. And he is an amazing rapper. This man has too much talent!
I've always liked musicals, in fact I named my daughter after a character in Les miserables! But when I heard about Hamilton, a rap, hip-hop musical, I thought no, not for me. Then I watched it, and didn't like it. Then I watched it again and got it! So having the CD with lyrics to sing a long to I'd just great.
Hamilton was introduced to me by my brother. It is one of the best CDs I've bought. It has a lot of playability over and over. Lin Manuel Miranda worked on this for six years with a Hamilton historian.
AMAZING!!!! I cried, I actually started dancing and I looked up lyrics right away! This new hip hop musical tells us about the first treasury secretary in the USA. Parental Advisory for people under 15. Swearing, some bed action too. Otherwise very informational. Learned a lot from this musical. I got a book of Alexander Hamilton's biography and read it because of this book an dI usually don't like reading political books. Very nice. GREAT! The world turned upside down because of him. I also learned new people that teachers never told me about and that I would never find out about. I'm listening to it right now actually.
If you don't love a good story about one of the founding fathers what is wrong with you? Darn it you need to listen to this cd. It will wake up your inner patriotism and make you appreciate all the blood, sweat and tears that were spilled for you, yes you!!!! Then after you are done loving this musical you can read the book which is amazing too by the way. This cd will grab your heart and make you an instant fan. If you do love history, well there is a little fudging here and there for the sake of a good musical flow but like I said read the book too and you will appreciate it even more. You say, "What? A rap musical set at the founding of our country sounds strange? All you have to do is listen and you will be hooked.
