i gave up on this and threw it out. It is cheap and looks attractive. But It is badly designed and made and is hard to use. Hard to either put in or get out the coffee - difficult to remember after these many months. My advice - get the more normal style Hario grinder instead. That device does the job and is fully dishwasher safe, which I have never seen in any other grinder.

I purchased this as my first-ever grinder. The design has a nice vintage charm to it and has solid construction, with pieces fitting snugly together. The upper section takes the perfect amount of beans for my 3 cup moka when full, but there's enough room in the cylinder to grind more if necessary. It's a little fiddly, but easy to adjust once you figure out how to do it. It might take a bit of trial and error to get the right grind-size, so I recommend testing a small amount of beans first.Overall, a nice grinder to start off with. Made good coffee with it :^)**photo shows one basket-worth of beans for a 3 cup moka pot, ground finely.

Nice wooden construction, feels solid and works smoothly. The grind function is a little fiddly to change between fine and coarse but easy to do once you've got the hang of it.The hopper fuction is easy to use but could be slightly larger. It takes about 3 tablespoons of beans at a time.I'm happy with the purchase and it looks great on the counter.

Hario Coffee

This grinder seems to be well built. It functions well and I get a mini workout before my morning coffee.I have bought the Hario Coffee grinder specifically for apartment living, where the noise of an electric grinder could be offensive to the neighbours. It works really well, at a satisfactory noise level, and the colour matches the cupboard doors. We are very happy.

My family said: "What the **** is that?". I said: "It's a beautiful thing". They're not used to having something which doesn't offer instant gratification. It does take a bit of effort, and my wife has yet to get used to a new noise in the morning, but it does the job with perfectly ground fresh coffee and - le café est parfait!Ern

Hario Coffee Grinder Column - Wood

I love it! This little grinder works perfectly. I have it on the finest grind setting and it takes about 50 turns of the handle to grind enough coffee for my re-usable pod. It only takes a few minutes and I always have freshly ground coffee :-)

So far so good. I grind about 50 grams of coffee in this a day and it has been totally fine. Perfect for travelling (which isn't really thing at the moment) lightweight and easy to clean. The threaded connection between the grinder and the base is far better than my previous porlex.

Looks nice but!!!
20 June 2023

I recently bought this Hario coffee grinder. Pros it looks nice to look at but that’s it. Cons feeding coffee beans into the grinder is hard without splitting the coffee beans everywhere. Next is trying to get the correct grind for what you need. While grinding the coffee beans the grinder moves around and the handle knob is too same. I would not recommend the grinder, only for display.

This coffee grinder perfectly fits the description! the natural wood and metal have a great earthy feel to them, which makes this tool both functional and stylish on the bench-tops. The two different grind options allow for you to freshly grind your beans to the perfect consistency. I would definitely recommend this product!

The grinder is fine if you have time and patience to deal with how finicky it is. You will eventually reach the right coffee grind. But it that makes it practical if you always need/use the same grind.Tried to return it, but Alternative Brewing only accepts unopened, unused merchandise, which does not make sense since I only knew I want to return it after I have tried it.
