The Bellman Espresso & Steamer - CX 25P can do what it says but requires the care and attention of a steady handed surgeon combined with the guess work of a carnival mentalist to great that perfect shot of espresso. The machine is well crafted and looks a treat on the bench top and will last a very long time. The pressure gauge, handle and steamer will have any steam punk coffee drinking asking for more... Or maybe fashioning a hat out of it.I both love it and want to bend it simultaneously. The steamer is the stand out. A foam this good should not be achievable while roughing it. Well done Bellman.PS - buy the Bellman Tamper at the same time to save yourself some tears.

So I have an atomic. Classic stovetop coffee that does a good job. I then found out about this machine and bought it as a pre-Christmas present for a friend and having seen it working I'm now VERY tempted to buy one for myself.1. It handles my induction stove! I could finally get rid of that induction plate which really does transfer heat as efficiently as it could. So this CX 25P heats up much quicker than my Atomic.2. It can make a VERY nice espresso with finely controlled pressure.3. And the steaming wand (again, with good pressure control) can stretch the milk really well.

We have used even in accommodation with our gas stove. Much easier than finding an open cafe In a small town, and to be honest truly better quality .We take our keep cups in their bag holder (carries 4 and helps lessen cups lids etc into the environment) and along with this machine and the grinder - we are ready to go. Great part is that it doesn’t take a lot of room either. You could use everyday at home too if you don’t want to or can’t invest in a large machine. We are truly happy with ourBellman 🙋

Hot garbage with a nice steam wand

A great gift for someone you hate who loves good coffee.I've single handedly made the worst coffee ever using this machine. Thin, under extracted swill. I'm willing to accept that its user error here, but I believe that you should be able to make something less than perfect, but still drinkable by following the provided instructions. The instructions for using this monstrosity are convoluted to say the least. The box says one thing, the instruction pamphlet says something else, and the AB video suggests yet another method. I've tired all of this as well as different grinds, but all I have to show for this is around 500 grams of coffee grinds down the sink and second degree burns. The basket is painful and slow to fill, and If you're using a gas stove top expect every square inch of this thing to get hot during a brew.I honestly really wanted to like this machine, but the hours already spent trying to dial it in and the amount of coffee wasted has quite literally left me with a bad taste. I hate this thing.

I've just received the Bellman
26 March 2021

I've just received the Bellman CX-25P and have looked at the video from AB (twice) and still don't think I've configured it right and will have to give it another try. For now this is getting 3 stars. So far, my brews have been week and I get a lot of sputtering. Until I do feel I'm doing it right, I can't give it a higher rating as the instruction manual and even the video (as good a production as it is, AB) is improved to make this more foolproof. My original intent was to get it for our caravan for when we're off-grid and want a cup of espresso without plugging into mains power. That's still possible, however right from the beginning AB recommends adding boiling water from a kettle to speed up the process of getting the Bellman up to pressure more quickly. My original intent was to get it for our caravan for when we're off-grid and want a cup of espresso without plugging into mains power. That's still possible, however right from the beginning AB recommends adding boiling water from a kettle to speed up the process of getting the Bellman up to pressure more quickly. If you don't do that, it will be upwards of 15-20 minutes before you've heated the water and got it up to pressure. Also, there's aparantly a special tamper that is available to tamp down the grind prior to brewing. This wasn't mentioned on the website or recommended–I think it would be handy to have. A normal tamper won't work because of the tube sticking up in the middle. The special tamper has a hole to accommodate the tube. The steamer is quite powerful. It gets milk hot in seconds. I may need to get a smaller milk pitcher as my 300ml one is a but large to fit under the (unmovable) steam wand to get the proper vortex and micro foam that we like. The unit is solidly built and feels good quality. I look forward to making it work properly as I think it has potential. I recommend that Bellman invest in a proper manual to make the experience easier.

It's all it was made out to be and more

I was recently given a Bellman CX25P for my birthday and it is one of the best things I have come across. It is all stainless steel and I am able to reassemble the spout over the handle to store away in the cupboard. No need for it to take up bench space. When researching this piece of equipment there was a common statement of the shot not being as strong as what you get in a shop. I think that may come down to personal knowledge of beans used and how fine or coarsely they have been ground. I have had consistent pours that have been full flavoured with a lovely crema on top.Steaming the milk has been amazing, best I have used to date. Very silky textured milk.I would highly recommend this machine as I would Alternative Brewing. Mixed feelings
18 December 2020

I’m having a mixed feelings on this. It’s a good little machine, it does it’s job; the milk foamed up nicely HOWEVER, it’s a different type of consistency. I would say the milk foam up a lot thicker than a normal espresso machine.I’ve been a barista for over 20 years and used to teach how to make coffee art. But no matter what I do, the milk from this machine just ain’t silky enough; don’t get me wrong, it’s smooth, but it’s a heavier consistency as I mentioned earlier. I’ve changed the milk, switched the jar, still the same.I’m a bit disappointed to be honest. The whole reason why I bought this was for the frother. I live in a smaller apartment with not enough bench space for a proper coffee machine so I though this would be a great alternative. 😔

The perfect espresso cuppa!
8 May 2021

We bought our bellman for camping as we are fussy coffee drinkers that need that perfect cuppa. Really happy with this bellman it’s took a lot of fiddling around and a few utube videos but we found it makes the perfect (if not better!) 2 espresso coffees. We found making sure the water line is at 9cups, let the bellman heat up to 3/3.5 and slowly open the valve for a slow consistent stream. This would give us 70-100mls of strong espresso. The milf frother is easy and great. Makes it the perfect cuppa. We also purchased the Porlex tall grinder to grind the beans. All up this is an awesome machine, it is time consuming and a bit of hard work when you first get it but we are so happy! I can’t see it making any more than 3 espresso coffees though. But 2-3 works fine for us!

Very happy with this product.

Very happy with this product. Like the ability to alter brew strengths and quantity of coffee used. Simple to use and I found the video instructions from Alternative Brewing a great help, particularly the area of how much pressure to build to which was a bit more than recommended by the manual. I was somewhat pleasantly surprised at how efficient the steam wand operated. Lots of steam and pressure. I make two large flat whites at a time and there is always enough steam to make at least another cup if I wanted to. The coffee brewed has always been rich and flavoursome. Considering the size and capability, I consider this unit to be multi purpose, being more than capable as a domestic unit but the portability makes it a brilliant addition to your travelling, camping ... MoreVery happy with this product.
