I’m referring to the Hario V60/01. (1 cup). I’ve been working with both the V60 02 and the Kalita 185. I wanted a one cup device. The V60-01 does a great job. Took me a couple tries to get the grind from my Ode fine enough for the faster pouring 1 cup. Once there, I’m getting excellent results. I’m basically using the James Hoffman method as per his fine video. 5 stars.

I really liked my ceramic V60-02, so I bought one in the V60-01 size for single cups. I generally do between 12-20 grams, and I would not suggest putting much more coffee than that in. The 01 filters are widely available and relatively cheap. I have not really dropped either model, but they seem quite solid and I have never worried about it. I suppose if you were worried you can get the plastic version, but it doesn't feel as good in the hands as the ceramic version. I also like that the ceramic version feels hot as you pour the water in, though I understand this heat transfer actually decreases water temperature slightly. It would be cool to carry this model in black.

I've been looking for a good quality dripper for hand pouring coffee ever since we moved back to Australia and my Kalita snapped in two. I was a little wary of the Harios, since I'd heard the pour speed was hard to get a handle on, but so far it's been very easy to control and the coffee strength has been consistent. The Harios are very good quality Japanese made porcelain, and look very nice. Be aware this particular product is only big enough to make you 1 mug sized cup of coffee, so unless you're ok making pouring multiple times, or you only want to give your guests small coffees, you'll need a bigger model. You should also keep in mind the Hario drippers want their own filters, which have a slightly different shape to what you can get easily at the shops.

I purchase this coffee filter first the one cup and then the larger 2 cup ceramic filter. The one cup was extremely slow in filtering and needed attending, the larger two cup filter had a very large hole in the base and many times the filtering water and coffee broke through the base and ruined the coffee. I tried different speeds of pouring in the hot water but most of the time it broke through the filter. I used PC filters. I was very disappointed in both of these cones.
I am absolutely in love with the Hario V60 Ceramic and I was very impressed with the excellent quality and fast delivery. I also purchased the matching filters to go with it. Best coffee I've had in a long while. The customer service team were also incredibly friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend! :)
Great fun experimenting with this piece of equipment. There is an abundance of recipes and tips on how to get the most out of the v60 set online, have fun playing around.The process of brewing the coffee with this method is a lot more hands-on than a french press or even an Aeropress and may take a little longer. I personally enjoy the romance behind brewing coffee - so I love that factor. It also affords me the opportunity to add a personal touch when I'm brewing for friends and family, which I truly enjoy.Build quality is excellent.You don't need the server for this, it balances well directly over a cup - but there's something charming about brewing coffee and serving it from the v60 range server. Also a lovely addition to your counter top.

Participle uniformity is not as great as I thought it would be. This is a great grinder but I would definitely not consider it an upgrade from the Ode.One thing that I notice that is particularly annoying is the size of the many boulders when going up past 20 clicks.I’ll keep it for the convenience and overall quality but it was not entirely as I’d hoped.

When paired with the larger wooden knob on the handle, I find the overall effort expended to crank a C40 to be less taxing than I was used to. For example, when grinding larger size Arabica beans (ex. Illy Classic Medium roast) at 20 clicks, it was not difficult task at all… it like cutting through butter with little resistance on the turns. When grinding light roasted, smaller beans (like Ethopian Chelbesa), it does take more torque, but not enough that my heart rate jumped/I dread the thought of grinding a 2nd batch of 30g.Overall, the grinds produced are incredibly consistent and none of my V60s have stalled since switching to the C40 and the flavors you are able to access with this grinder are the best so far in a 10 yr journey with coffee.Hack to Adjust the Grind Setting:After I watched the C40 cleaning video on the Comandante website and saw how you can hold the grind adjustment dial while turning the handle. 1 rotation of the handle equals 12 clicks. Now, I find it simple to go from 0-24 clicks in no time/no tedious click counting required. I simply line the handle to the Comandante logo on the side of the grinder to benchmark one rotation. I start a new bag of coffee for a James Hoffman style V60 pour over method at 25 clicks and adjust 1-2 clicks finer until to find the best result.C40 Community:One last benefit of buying a Comandante is the community available. I enjoy being able to easily find recipes based on C40 clicks to start dialing in recipes on pour overs.Summary:Overall, I was hesitant paying a significant premium vs other high-quality grinder available. The C40, in my opinion, falls into the "you get what you pay for" category and I have zero regrets after a month of daily grinding.
