I was running out of the filters (brown, untabbed) that came with my Hario Pour Over. After watching this videohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uggibTY0AEI specifically went out looking for the 40 Count non-tabbed filters. I couldn't find too many places that had them. I cracked the box open even before I'd finished with my original filters, so that I could compare. These took a bit longer to drain, I haven't tried the Hario filters, but other than the drainage issue, I found the coffee was still good. These'll be my go to from now on; These also arrived surprisingly fast. Thanks Prima Coffee!

All good with delivery. The item is of high quality, the size is a bit small but its me experimenting. Size 02 is the best, more universal. Size 01 is limited

These paper filters work very nicely. Excellent fit. The filter material is thin and strong. The drip time seems to be the same as that of other filters I’ve used. One feature I particularly appreciate is the small tab on the top edge that makes opening the filter easy. I’ve purchased other brands that seems to stick closed. The material and the tab make for easy opening. I did not notice any taste from the filter. Although I don’t think my taste is that refined.

What can one say about a paper coffee filter? If it's a Hario, a great deal. One notices that the paper is soft and somewhat "cushiony." That's rather unusual. I compared the Hario filters to other types of filters. The other filters seemed to be stiff and felt like notebook paper and more rough in texture. The biggest difference was how the Hario filter performed. The perfect cone shape forced the ground coffee to the bottom where maximum flavor could be extracted. The filter paper was definitely high performance - no particulate. It was also very fast acting when compared to other filter papers. None of the slow action experienced previously with Brand X and Y. The coffee was ready in half the time required from other filter brands. Is a Hario filter worth it? I have been using these filter papers for some time and have found them very efficient. I was surprised when my latest order arrived, that they were a larger size, 1 to 4 cups. I assumed that 1 was repeating my previous orders for 3 bags of 100 1 to 2 cup size filter papers. They still work of course, but are too big!
Made in Japan, so it's probably good stuff, I'm not experienced enough to really compare taste vs the Timemore brand papers that came with the Timemore Crystal Eye dripper, but both seem to work nicely. I think for that brewer (the smaller version, but also worked on the larger 2-4 cup version) these fit pretty good but not as perfect as the Timemore ones, these might be just a tiny bit too small, leaving one part that doesn't contact the brewer. Not sure if that's a big deal though.Update: Dropped 1 star after doing a comparison, dropped another star for possible inconsistenciesI've been enjoying these on their own but when compared with a bunch of other paper filters I found these seemed to lose out more often than others. You can get good results but better results with other filters. People complain these stall, I don't think I had too many issues with that or I ground coarse enough and compensated for it (less pours / agitation). My fav filters for Light roast coffee in V60 is Kinto and maybe also the Oragami (by Cafec) filters both of which happen to have cotton fiber blends.I've also heard there's different versions of these which are very different filters. There's the Euro versions which have an odd / stronger filtery taste and may flow slower and stall more. The Tabbed ones in a bag may be different from the Tabbed in a box.... it's confusing and inconsistent so that lost a star.Although these ones I tested steeping the filter on its own and the filter taste was not bad, it's a pleasant woody sweet taste, I think they actually did better than the Flat bottom Kalita wave filters did which weren't 'bad' tasting either but had a stronger taste. With normal coffee use though I think even without rinsing the filters you won't taste the paper. With some coffees you might think you're tasting a papery note but it's more the coffee than the filter, I've had that when cupping a coffee (no paper at all)!
I had been told not to buy the 100 pack as the filters were not made the same as the 40 pack. I figured how bad can at be and the 40 pack was sold out so tried these out. They add on average 1 minute on drawdown times regardless of the method affecting the taste of the end cup. I find coffees more bitter and cups not as clean. If I had started out with the 100 packs I probably wouldn’t know any better but doing back to back cups, with all parameters the same: the cup isn’t as good. Will probably end up tossing these or keeping them in case of emergency. Lol
I know the flow rate is a bit different with different paper filters- and perhaps it is for this reason that I find these work a bit better than the 100 pack with the little tabs (though perhaps there are other variables that might have accounted for the differences). But it works so I’ll keep buying these. Though one can get these anywhere, I like buying my coffee gear from Cafune where possible- just delightful people to deal with - communications are great- items are beautifully packed - it feels more like an in person transaction.
This is a great product, unfortunately, when I ordered it was out of stock, and delayed my entire order. I discussed with customer service that they should notify when this happens in the future. I ordered some 01’s and those are in stock, Ijust a little small for my cone, but we’ll see how they work. I use about 50 g of coffee each morning, so I need the larger size to brew properly. When is stock is a great filters. Good quality, great price!!!
Straight up you think paper filters is paper filters. You'd be wrong. Dead wrong. These filters got it all, without that overly papery taste you associate with bad filters. They don't behave like the metal ones and have a consistent brew time. What's that you don't drink coffee? Well then they are perfect for tiny baby hats too. Perfect for draining cheese as well, a little clunky but you could do it.Strain your broth, do it, ARE YOU? I'll wait.Anyway, I dig em, they are perfect for my V60 needs and make for satisfying cups of coffee.
