I bought it a long time ago more then 1 year, and all of a sudden im not able to setup the speaker with googlehome via Android OS. The connecting to Wifi step is staying for hours aven do all the necessary data was provided. I also checked the last update of the speaker was done in 2020. To me HK is doing a very bad job when it comes to updates and maintaining products in a good shape. Just a note to HK you are not selling 20 euro speakers, you are selling high end devices that should have a great quality but in the end you sell stuff that will not be usable in 1-2 years. Now i just need to send this speaker to recycle since its a no use just because the warranty expired. Im very dissapointed and i will never look at HK products from now on. I guess its about time ... MoreI bought it a long time ago more then 1 year, and all of a sudden im not able to setup the speaker with googlehome via Android OS. Sounds amazing and it's so easy to use with google assistant for music. Too bad it can't really be used for videos and especially movies via Bluetooth because of the noticeable lag. An hdmi arc input would have been great, or at least a 3.5mm headphone jack to connect it to a pc or phone, not to mention a USB-C connection to a docking station that most of use have now a days anyway.

Had this speaker for about 3 weeks now, and I'm impressed by the audio quality of it. Simple to set up, looks good, and plays NICE. It's Chromecast enabled, so a few of these should be able to fill your house with music in a very nice way. Google Assistant integration works ok as I'm a Norwegian user, but not great. This is due to GA being still in a kind of beta phase for Norway, but for English native speakers it works like a charm. However, voice control is nice, but not necessary as it pops up as a unit in Spotify as well and can be controlled that way. All in all I will say it's a lot of sound for the money, and actually the first product I try that gives Sonos a run for it's money in terms of sound quality. Recommended if you want to try something for a multi room setup based on Google Cast, or just a lot of sound for a room.

Overall, I am very pleased with the speaker, it plays well and loud. The voice assistant is exciting and has some useful features, but the speaker is not perfect. I am happy with the sound, it meets my demands for both bass and volume. However, I am no speaker expert just an average user, it satisfies my needs. The design is okay, maybe a little boring, but the materials that are used are solid. The big negative for me is the voice assistant, the Google Home app that one has to use was annoying already at startup. Several times I have experienced that it stops the music because it thinks I'm talking to it. In addition, I have to use the bluetooth feature to play podcasts from the podcast app on my Iphone. Sound control is also not seamless. If you do not want to physically go to the speaker or unlock your phone and then go into the Google Home app, you have to talk to HK Citation, it stops the music and it does not work every time, which is really annoying. But voice control can also be fantastic at times and helps me out. For example, simple things like asking about the weather or just starting a playlist from Spotify. I'm looking forward to when voice control will work seamlessly.

Plugged in, connected up and WOW!! This speaker is better than advertised. We have two folks in our home and it was simple to have it identify both. Great sound. We are jazz fans and this covers the spectrum of sound very well. Clear highs and mid-range with strong, but not obtrusive bass. Significantly better than our Friends' other smart speakers. We have it set up in the middle of a large room behind a couch. Fills the room at 40% Attractive cabinet. The Google Assistant is spot on for a number of challenging requests. Extremely pleased. Only downside is we cannot get it to pair with our I-Pad. I'll check that out and revise if that is just our lack of knowledge. If you are in the market for a smart speaker, this is an excellent value!

Great design, average sound
2 November 2021

I was looking for a new speaker for kitchen. Evaluated many other brands but chose this one because of name recognition and greatest design. Pros: - Great design - Easy to set up, but WiFi and Google home are must have even if you want to use Bluetooth only - Great for relaxing background music - Pretty good frequency response Cons: - WiFi and Google home are must have even if you want to use Bluetooth only - Do not try to play any rock classics on it - I understand that sound may depend on acoustics of the room. Tried many positions (all corners, countertop, closer to floor/ceiling), tried installing it in the bedroom as well. Podcasts also sound average: oversaturation with high frequencies makes some voices sound weird. Having proper equalizer could help with some of that

Great sound, some start-up issues with google home
26 December 2018

Have tested this speaker for almost 1 weeks and are impressed witht he speaker. The design is clean and modern, so it will fit to any home. This is a steady speaker without any cheap plastic, and the sound is excellent! Had some start-up issues with Google Home. First there was difficulty addint the speaker in my google home app, and it manage to connect on the 3rd try. Then there was still some minor error saying it only support English language, thou this isn't true and I could easily add Norwegian language later on in the app on my phone. I'm using this with an iPhone 7 by the way... I experienced that when playing songs from Spotify, they would stop after a few seconds and I had to ask google to play the song again. Struggeled with this issue and had to reset the speaker 3 times before it dissapeared. Now I'm enjoying playing music without any issues. Would give the speaker a full top score if it wasn't for all the google issues...

I like the sound and the look, but ...
15 December 2020

I decided to go all in and swap out all my old stuff with Google Home devices, and that included a Citation 300, 200, Multibeam 700, and a Sub S. First problem was that TuneIn kept dropping out every few minutes. I decided to throw out my "old" mesh (old being three years), buying a new TP-link X60 mesh. Seems to have fixed it for now. Living in Norway I'd say this voice command stuff is something akin to flying the Wright brothers' first plane compared to the 787 Dreamliner you have been promised. At least every other time I need to repeat what I have said. It is very poor at combining Norwegian with English, as is very often the case with song titles. It pronounces english words and sentences with Norwegian intonation. At least every other time I need to repeat what I have said. It is very poor at combining Norwegian with English, as is very often the case with song titles. It pronounces english words and sentences with Norwegian intonation. Some commands are just not understood, like moving music to a different speaker, or they are misunderstood and it gives a completely jibberish answer, some times it answers requests made a while back, and of course they have nothing to do with what I want to have it do now. This might all be because of Google Home, and not HK, but that is what HK has chosen to go with so it's part of the package. Glad I have not spent more than I already have. The way these units function is dependent on too many factors out of my, or HK's control. More often than not it is a rather frustrating experience. I can just imagine calling HK about the TuneIn issue. They would blame my ISP, or my router, or google, or TuneIn, and any of the others would do the same (probably the same for any other "smart" speaker system). In the kitchen where we have placed the Citation 200 our old DAB radio is the preferred sound source because it invariably works.

Needs serious improvement / upgrades
21 March 2019

Adjusting the volume does not adjust the volume of the assistant! so you lower the sound but the assistant still belows back. No tuning / EQ No easy way to turn off some lighting effects - if I turn the microphone off, there's a bunch of bright red LEDs on permanent display. Podcasts on the assistant are very random - I can't get any BBC podcasts to work (other than workaround using chromecasting). To be for, it's not clear whether that's an Assistant problem, or a hardware intergration problem. Volume adjustment buttons (hardware) only partly responsive as reported by other users. Pros: Solid, good quality, nice design. Good quality sound. Very powerful. Does not require seperate app / works with Google home.

I got this just after Christmas and have been playing around with it since. It is very sturdy ( 4,5 kilo ) so you can place it even in smaller spaces or a sturdy shelf. I really like that it has a built in touchscreen for fast operation. I had to upgrade the firmware when I got it but that was simple as soon as it was connected to the wifi network. The one I have is black and that fits the rest of my audio / stereo set up but it would be nice if the mesh could be exchanged for different colors in the future. It work very good with spotify and you can change the songs on the touchscreen without any lag or distortion. I hope they can fix that in a later firmware update. I have tried google assistant with my wifi-plugs from tp-link and that worked very well. The only thing is it does not understand all the commands in Norwegian but if given in English it replies and verifies the command in Norwegian, a bit confusing. One thing that I also miss is the possibility to change the equalizer, sometimes the hightones get to pitched and therefor having different presets would be nice. All in all a good product, wish I had more to test the multiroom option but I guess it will work well, the only thing is the price that I find a bit high for this "entry" level speaker.
