I have three sets with the subwoofer, one in office, one in den, and one in the workout room. I have liked them for 20 years and recently bought the two additional sets. Thankfully, they have kept the old design over the years. One of the first sets is in a museum due to the beautiful design.

I owned an original set of these more than 10 years ago. The 3rd evolution is even better. When you consider these are mainly just for computer speakers, theres really nothing else that can compare. The design has changed very little over the years which shows you they really got everything right.

There is no doubt that they sound great WHEN THEY WORK. This is the second set I have owned, but they stopped working after 1 year. It's possible that the connections dried out since this is an older model even if you buy them new. Now I am faced with paying for repair of the subwoofer which controls everything and won't power up. I SHOULD HAVE KEPT THE SUBWOOFER FROM MY FIRST SET AND REPLACED THE TOWER SPEAKERS WHICH I NOW KNOW CAN BE DONE.

I purchased this unit to replace my 90's Kenwood amplifier in my living room as I wanted wireless/bluetooth connectivity around the house. So far I am very happy with unit and it works very well with my Sony G1 Speakers. Setup was a doddle... It comes with a small mic that you place in the centre of your room and the unit can then run a setup test that maps out your room and optimizes the audio output depending on the space its in, so nice and easy. Its very easy to connect any Bluetooth device and also great to use with FLAC audio, giving really great sound quality and depth. The soundsticks III Wireless by Harman Kardon are a beautiful piece of technology to have on display on my room. I love its looks and the clear crisp sound. Of course there are much smaller speakers that could fill the room with the same volume of sound, but I haven't found one that has such clear audio from Bluetooth. I also appreciate that these speakers have the capability of working with a 3.5mm jack. I believe it is a great investment and I am seriously considering getting another pair. I hate that these days manufacturers either don't care at all for stereo separation or try to do something like using Dolby Atmos which is great but to expensive to be a reasonable expense for just listening to music on my computer.
My original set lost the volume +/- ability so had to buy these replacements. I had the original set for less than 2 years, and I really think they should have lasted a long time more than they did. They were minimally used. So, while HK offered me a discount for replacement, I wish I had not had to rebuy them again to begin with. I repacked the old pair back in the box, maybe they can be sent back or find someone to look a them to repair. It's a lot of plastic and electronic to just throw away in the garbage. I only gave 3 stars because I really don't think they should have had to be replaced to begin with.
I listened to my wifes set up, the sound quality was very good. I listen to rock and classical and found it handled them both beautifully (I cannot vouch for it being hi-fi but it is very, very good) The R/H stick controls volume with touch sensitive buttons and the on/off button on the base unit controls base output (I missed the bit where the system snoozes if left and the sudden burst of music made me jump! All in all, easy to set up nothing needs forcing, just double check the plug type matches the sockets. Best looking computer system ever.
I actually have three Soundsticks systems, both wired and Bluetooth models.I have the opportunity to use one of these systems every day for the past few years.My son now owns the Soundsticks III version and it's his opinion that brings me here today. Note he also runs the Harman AVR3700 with some original JBL Northridge E100's coupled with the original Northridge E250P Sub.. so he's a bit spoiled on full spectrum clarity.He also loves his new III's connected to some super sound-card in a home built PC,He says the mid-tones are not as spacious as he would like and everything else on the spectrum plays fantastic.Operation is simple, never an issue over several years.Great Job Harman !!
Excellent sound when it works - but it is a 20 year old model and lots of them are faulty. It has has about 5 versions as have the satellites and not all are compatible with all. Mine (the second) sometimes switches off. It was sold as having BlueTooth which it does not (version II). I had more problems with the satellites, the volume setting by two touchpads does nothing / turns the system off. Other satellites arrived unglued / with magnets fallen off from the speakers (one speaker was working out of 4). Only buy it if you can repair it.
