Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone - Deluxe Illustrated Slipcase Edition

Amazing addition to my Harry Potter collection

My children and I loved reading the Harry Potter series and fell in love with them early on. My youngest child however never got into the books, even though she is an avid reader. I bought this book in hopes that the illustrations would make it more appealing to her. I was right, she is reading it and loves the drawings. She also said she likes it better because the words are larger and the pages are not crowded. I originally saw this book at a bookstore for more than double the price, so I was hesitant to buy it from a third party vendor, even though it was through Walmart. I am pleased to say the book is large and sturdy, the binding is strong and it is of exceptional quality. An excellent, surprising deal!

If this seller still has any of these left and you're thinking about purchasing- go for it! I got this as a Christmas gift for my wife (a huge HP fan) and I can't say enough good things about it. Like the other reviewer on here, I was skeptical about the price (these are currently going for $40-60 on Amazon and other sites, so at less than half of that, it's a steal), but was pleasantly surprised when this arrived at my door in less than a week in excellent condition. An heirloom book - fantastic introduction to Harry Potter

This is a beautiful book that could be kept for generations. It is a fantastic way of introducing Harry Potter to younger readers. My 6 year old was so enthralled, we've now purchased the next illustrated version in the series. And my four year old even listened and got involved in parts of it. It doesn't have pictures on every page but enough to keep early readers entertained. And the pictures have fantastic details. A really special book.

If you enjoy the Potter series and want a beautiful book - this is it. Packaged in an illustrated protective cardboard box. Cloth covered slip cased with gorgeous illustrations. Binding is good quality with top and bottom cloth page markers and cloth covers with illustrations matching the slip case. High-quality/heavy stock gilt edged paper. Gorgeously full color illustrated by McKay. Each story is the unabridged edition by Rowling in a comfortable font. Not available directly from the publisher to the United States. Each book to come out 20 years after the original printing. Cant wait for the next one.!

Good Book

This book was okay. I didn't hate it or love it either way, though towards the end I realized how lukewarm I felt about the story since I would prefer to read any other book I had on hand. I appreciate the level of novelty in the world-building during the time this was first published. The friendship between the trio is cute. Hermione and Ron are fun characters and I might have enjoyed the book more if they had been the main protagonists. Downsides: I also didn't like that the final action of the book got skipped over quickly by having a fade-to-black moment and then a lengthy explanation told by one of the side characters. It felt like such an abrupt way to end the story... but TBH, I was glad to be done with it so I could move on to other books lol.

Harry Potter has been re-born!

What lead me to buy this book was not only the great price that Booktopia always offers, but I wanted to introduce my 6 year old to the series.I grew up reading these books and they were an integral part of my growing up and to have the illustrated version meant that I could also acquaint my daughter to the series in a fun way - through looking at pictures as well as reading the story! I was glad to get this book I was very excited! World of books works with the customers to do what they can for good quality books ends as vacation for the customer. For it being used it was in good quality condition the book was. I'm glad I was able to find it it's hard to find a hardcover book of this edition it seems like and the other books came and good condition too as well I was very pleased. Thank you world of books!

Not as depicted in the description

Not what I ordered at all, I only purchased this edition because it stated it was a hardback book in the description! Not only that the cover is completely different! I feel completely mislead. It also came a little damaged.
