A lightweight board compared to end grain wood, and easy on knife blades. We purchased this specifically for raw meat because of the Board's softness and stated antibacterial properties to replace hard plastic boards. We have only started using it so have not yet had to use the scraper, but we have not noticed any unusual gouging or cuts.

You're looking at boards. You should make the leap and grab this one. Rich, velvety black finish, super light and easy to handle. I've had mine just about a month and a few cuts are starting to show, but the dark plastic hides them a lot better than a light board. You can only see if the lights hit it just right. Very nice fit and finish, nice textured finish. I am looking to purchase the larger one next. I have the smaller size, and use it primarily for veggie prep with a 170cm knife or so ...If you're thinking of a squishier hi-soft board, research into the topic indicates that there is only a very small penalty for FPEL over that stickier rubber, and you're still way ahead of other types of materials, including harder woods.

This board has been great. It is 100% dishwasher safe and has a great feel to it. I have other fancy boards like Hi-Soft boards and various wood boards and this board has the best feel. The extra contrast against things you are cutting is also really nice. The guys at Tokushu are the best! Buy anything they have with confidence.

Better than expected. Takes a bit of getting used to as there is a slight grab when the knife meets the board which tells you you’ve sliced through. Because of this, I’m glad I bought the “hard board”. The colour is striking in that it showcases whatever you’re working on due to the contrast against the black colour of the board. Size is just right! The board is dishwasher safe and this fits mine perfectly.
I love using this board and knowing my knifes are safe when making contact with it. The material is slightly harder than the lighter colour one, but nowhere near as hard as your typical cheap plastic board. I like using it to serve huge family style rib eye roast or whole chicken in the middle of the table. It really makes the food pop!
Great board for my chef knives. Black colour works great as a background for the photos (I love to post my cooking on the social medias). Cleaning is very easy (also, it's the first time I clean my cutting board in the dishwasher :) ) Next time, I'll get the light coloured board to compare. Highly recommend!
Great cutting board. In black is very beautiful and a great piece in the kitchen. This version is the "harder" purpose from hasegawa. I almost never cut fish for sushi or sashimi, so I thought this was a great option, and I was right. Great allrounder.
This is my second Hasegawa board. I bought the board for general use in the kitchen. Very good size, fits the space in my kitchen. I also have the FRK model which is softer. This board is slightly harder than FRK, but it also does not dull the cutting edge of my knives. You can see some slight cuts from the knife, but it doesn't bother me, after all, it is intended for cutting and my knives are very sharp. I highly recommend it as an everyday board.
Pairs nicely with both my Shun Premiere and Tojiro Atelier knives. No worries about dulling the blades and having to resharpen as frequently. It’s also the perfect size. I can chop 2 large tomatoes, a red onion and all the fresh herbs on a single board. Cleans up quickly and no stains from food juices so far… it’s black so that may have something to do with that, but I’d still say it’s pretty stain resistant. Get one and your knives will thank you.
Light and Easy cleanup, cutting feel is more like a plastic cutting board, haven't had any noticeable staining yet despite warning about it with hot meat, have only cut rested meat so far. It does look nice and has a permanent place on the counter. I did add some soft rubber stick on feet to allow airflow underneath board.
