Like all Helinox products, I was VERY impressed with the quality of this chair! I already owned their Sunset model and have been exceedingly happy with it, and thought I'd buy a "spare" just in case I have a companion on a camping trip, so that they wouldn't have to sit on a log while I'm sound asleep, napping away in my comfy Sunset.And the Playa is certainly comfy, too -- once you're in it. Very comfortable. Nice and low to the ground. Very light and easy to carry. First time putting together was simple. The fabric was tight and a little tough the first time then loosened up nicely. I'll be purchasing a couple more for the kids. Pretty dissapointed with the bag. Nice for a beach bag, not great for a chair bag.

I'm a female of above-average fitness, but needed my boyfriend to help me. I wanted to be able to take the chair to the beach by myself for reading & relaxation, but I don't think I'd be able to relax if I was ever able to get it assembled by myself! I watched the instructional Helinox YouTube video on how to assemble this chair and they conveniently leave the final part out! Misleading advertising. PPS, they've changed the bag that it comes in to a kind of tote bag, so you can't use the bag as a pillow as advertised.

Very comfortable. Nice and low to the ground. Very light and easy to carry. First time putting together was simple. The fabric was tight and a little tough the first time then loosened up nicely. Got this chair for a glamping and stargazing trip. Debated between this and the Nemo Stargaze reclining, decided to go with the beach chair because of the weight and price. It was easy to setup and put away. Also picked this chair because it's lower to the ground and I can just stretch my legs out. Watched the meteor shower with this chair and used my hoodie as a pillow. I could just sit on this and just stare at the stars for hours without any discomfort. It's so lightweight that I would bring this on a backpacking/camping trip.
I love this chair. It is easy to put together/take apart and the parts are well made. The best part is how light and portable it is. I packed it in my suitcase for a beach/hiking trip and it took up very little space.The chair itself is comfortable to sit in - it is low to the ground, so may be harder for a very tall person to get up from, but this is not an issue for me. With the leg design, it really doesn’t sink into the sand. I’ve used it in multiple settings - beach, drive-in, parks and it has worked well.I got the pink multi colour cover and it is very pretty. The cover seems durable and is easy to clean.
Unfortunately, we had to return the chairs and are awaiting a return confirmation and refund. We paid $30 for expedited shipping and then an additional $35 to return to the chairs. The chairs were purchased as a gift for my older yet physically active parents who need lightweight chairs to bring bird watching, to the beach, etc. The chairs were too complicated for them to put together, sat really low and, due to the lack of arms, were extremely difficult to get out of. The chairs are probably are great for young hikers but not ideal for people middle aged or older.
Excellent product. The chair frame practically assembles itself. The fabric goes on with no struggle. Sitting in the chair is comfortable and low to the ground, which is great for burying toes in the sand and for shorter people. This chair is not going to be ideal for any one that has a hard time bending or getting up as it is low. The feet are stable on lots of surfaces and it is super easy to move around due to its lightweight. Plus the carrying bag makes packing it very convenient for many scenarios from traveling with a suitcase to cruising around the island on a bike with a basket.
Just purchased my second Beach Chair. Got 7 years of hard use out of my first both at work and play. I have the Ground Chair for when I need to go ultralight, but the for car and boat camping the headrest is very nice. I almost always use my camp chair on soft ground, whether desert sand, loose pack soil, etc. The wide feet keep it from sinking in, and the Ground Chair alike, and is the main reason I buy them. Another hidden benefit is the low seat hight make it so you don't need a foot rest to get into full lounge position, just stretch your legs out, and rest your tired heels on the ground. Only compromise is a bit harder to get in and out of after a long day of bashing myself, but well worth it for the added comfort position. Glad they offer the option. I’ve used this chair at least twice per week for 2 years now and it’s been great. I live in NYC so I travel on buses and subways to the beach. This fits in my backpack and isn’t too heavy for me to walk a few miles with either. When I was young, I couldn’t understand why people bothered to bring a chair to the beach. Then I got a herniated disc and arthritis and now I know! I can sit in this chair all day with no back pain whereas before I had this chair, my back would really hurt by the end of the day. That more than justifies the weight and the cost!
I had actually ordered the same model, but in the sunset chair. I realized upon opening this one that it’s the beach chair, but I actually really like how low it is. It would be nice so that I can place my drink on the ground next to me since it doesn't have cup holders or arm rests like the Savanah chair does.I thought it would be hard to get up from this height as it’s quite low, but it’s actually quite easy to get up from this chair. I also like stretching my feet and resting them on the ground with this one.I like how the legs have those flat things to keep it from potentially sinking into the sand, though I have not tested it for that.Is is more than double the original chair zero size, seems quite bulky but good for car camping, park or festival.
