At my age I look for a little more comfort in a camping sleep system. As a side sleeper I went with the cot max which gives the extra width. I do use with an insulated sleeping pad and have the legs for a little more height and flexibility to use as a seat. Very lightweight and not too wide so packs well on the motorcycle. Be careful with the feet as they will rub holes in your tent floor. I attached foam to the bottom with double sided gorilla tape for added protection.

This cot is a great item to pack! Totally used it after I moved all my furniture for my cross country move. My dog likes it to, since she is getting old, doesn't jump high anymore, and like to pack sleep near my feet. Great purchase for me! I recommend it is worth it. I did factor in the value of hotel stays versus cost of the cot...a 6 state trip with numerous hotels at $100 a night.

Without them it is about 6" high. It easily fits back in the carrying bag. (The 16 legs will fit in the bag also, albeit tightly.) Perfect for larger folks at 29.5" by 80" (my 30" by 80" inflatable pad on top makes sleeping as comfortable as my sleep number bed) I let a friend who is 6'-4" use it and he didn't want to give it back.I'm spent 69 years on earth and the Cot Max allows me to continue enjoying the outdoors. The parts of the four legs/spreaders are held together by bungie cord and slip together into the plastic holders with ease. The clamping system that stretches the top is an engineering marvel in its simplicity and ease. (Compared to the old army cots, it is a joy to behold). The legs that raise it to 16" slip into place with a slight snap. Just enough to keep them there if you want to move the cot around. They have plastic feet to prevent scratching. Plus, removal is easy done with a slight tug. I have set mine up many times and it takes about 5 minutes. Then a couple of years with a hammock and pad covered by a Kelty Delta Tarp. Quit the hammock mid-trip after it caught up with me and retreated back to the ground and vowed to get a quality cot.The Cot Max is it. This cot is perfect for tall people. Was incredibly easy to set up, despite people saying it was difficult to snap together (it was not). Took me about 10 minutes to set up the first time and less than 5 minutes the second time. Used this for a camping trip in cold/rainy weather and it performed perfectly and was easy to clean afterwards. I would recommend getting a cushioned pad for this if you are a side sleeper. The fabric is pulled extremely taught and does not flex very much so it would make my arm go numb when was sleeping on my side.

I had wide shoulders, which causes a little bit of an issue when warm weather camping. If my sleeping bag zippers are open, and I'm laying on my back, my arms tend to hang over the sides. Colder weather with closed zippers, no issues. I already own one but I purchased this for my son on a weekend long elk hunt at the end of October. The nights hovered around 0 but with the cot and the other essential gear, this worked great. It being low also allowed us to place closer to the outer perimeter and provided enough room for all our stuff. Can’t say enough great things about these cots. PS - My son is 6’-5” and there was still room to spare.

I was using an Exped MegaMat Max 15 directly on the ground. I'm a side sleeper, so I was a bit uncomfortable. Now I use the MegaMat and the Cot Max Convertible together. The Cot Max acts something like a box spring under a mattress does. It has just the right amount of "give". The Cot Max goes together nicely. Very well made. Packs down pretty light and compact. Not for back packing though. If you're car camping, that would be the best.
