Best ski jacket i ever had

This HH alpha 4.0 jacket is truly fantastic - it does its job so well, that it disappears into the background of your ski day and you can just focus on skiing. The windproofing is great, i sat hunkered down on a chair with a lot of wind and no problem. The main zipper works well, easy to adjust with gloves as you are coming down and generating heat; the venting on the back also helps. Pockets are well placed and sufficient. Only con - After 10 days of skiing i noticed one of the seam threads is coming out - a bit early if you asked me.

The overall construction of jacket is fine. The jacket fit runs small and you wouldn’t be able to wear a hoodie or sweater underneath comfortably. Especially the arm sleeves they fit tight. I recommend that you size up if you require that added warmth. This coat is definitely not a cold weather jacket. I live in a really windy area and wind chill is a factor. This jacket would be better suited for late fall and early spring. It would really benefit having a left inside pocket as well.

Good Overall Ski Jacket

Overall good ski jacket that performed as I expected on the mountain. I also like the jacket for its style and fit when not skiing, so that I can wear it off the mountain as well. One of the under-arm vent zippers did get stuck and broke trying to zip it up while wearing the jacket skiing (these zippers should be easy to zip/unzip while wearing the item on chairlift or on the mountain so you don't have to take the jacket off as conditions change), which is why I scored the item with 4 stars. However, Sun & Ski was great about replacing the jacket, which also demonstrates the value of buying an item like this from quality vendor.

Great coat but it's like skinny jeans
12 April 2024

I bought large of this HH coat and when I put it on the coat sleeves were very tight against my arms all the way through the forearms even though I was wearing a short sleeve t-shirt. I wear a large t-shirt (6', 205 lbs, 43" chest, 34" waist) and a Sessions XL coat I have is very loose. I went with large on the HH instead of XL so I would have a coat that wasn't so loose on me. I'm sad it didn't work out for me since it is such a sweet coat.

Great fit and performance
12 January 2024

Amazing jacket. Fantastic fit. Recommend choosing one size up as HH tends to have a European fit. Very warm, outstanding in wind and wet snow. The team at Peter Glenn was incredibly helpful when I had questions. #sweepstakes, #hellyhansen

Great jacket that fulfills it's promise
1 December 2023

I purchased this ski jacket my college-age son. He loves it! The fit is medium--meaning not slim, but not baggy--on his 6'0" 160lb frame. He loves the pockets, easy zipping, hood for cold days, and the weight of the coat to keep him warm. This should work great on the slopes and walking to classes.

High quality winter jacket
2 January 2024

Looks for a while for a multipurpose winter jacket that goes beyond the ski slope. This HH jacket is perfect. It's a great color, fits like a glove, has pockets that specially keep phone batteries warm to extend usage in cold weather and even built in technology to hello be found incase of being lost in back country skiing. Most of all it's very warm and built to last. Highly recommend it.

Outstanding resort ski jacket / a

Got this for resort skiing in winter ‘23-24. Very happy with this purchase. I had been debating between a technical ski shell or this, very glad I chose this option. The fabric is stretchy, which makes it much more comfortable than a typical shell, and has no associated crinkle with movement. The interior liner is very soft, and I’ve frequently worn just a t shirt underneath in milder (>25 degree) weather comfortably when walking around town.I skied with it in Vail in a -25 F windchill, was perfectly warm with a heavy baselayer and mid-weight midlayer. This isn’t an issue except in sub-zero windchills. Nice to be able to remove it as well.

Really nice and warn jacket.
29 February 2024

I was asked what I wanted for my birthday and I said that my Spyder jacket was a little worn. My wife did the research and asked around and gave me this to replace it. She also found a great price on it, so it didn't feel like a mortgage payment-the typical feeling when getting good skiing gear. The quality lives up to the reputation. There is plenty of pocket space and a nice waist band double snap to keep it in place when wearing it unzipped. The hood can be removed and since we are now skiing with helmets I can pull it off for the day and put it back on for après for those nights I need a little extra.

Very Good Ski Resort Jacket
26 March 2024

Very good jacket on the slopes in cold temperatures. I used this jacket end of Feb/ beginning of March in Japan. The temps were very cold and some days were very windy, this jacket kept me warm on the chairlifts and I never felt too hot when charging down the trails all day. I never needed a mid-layer, just a base layer with the jacket is all i needed to stay warm, dry and comfortable all day on the mountain. I would definitely recommend this jacket for resort skiing.
