I bought this to have a real rain coat with hood that would work both in the rain, and as a jacket you would want wear just as a jacket. I especially like that it offers the option to fully zip in a rainstorm, snap closed if you are running inside from the car, or to just belt if wearing as a jacket. The hood hides away inside the collar when it isn't needed. I also wanted secure zipper pockets for items and this has that too. Will be using on national park trips, travel to Europe, and to wear to work or around town. The color is nice in that it isn't a too-dark masculine navy, and isn't a too-sporty bright blue. The metallic snaps and zipper make it look posh. A hard to find do-it-all jacket.

This coat is really nice looking and functional. I bought a Small, it fits slightly big but I like to wear a sweater underneath at times. The sleeves are a little too long, I may have them altered by about an inch and a half. Really nice big hood, it folds into the collar as well if you don't need it. Keeps you well protected from the rain and looks really stylish and classy at the same time. Even when it's not raining it's a beautiful trench coat. Very nice fabric and a perfect length. I have two, Black and Gray Fog. That's how much I like it..lol

Great coat. Runs a little small across the hips

I love Helly Henner coats. Great quality!! They wear well in rain. This one has a generous hood that fold up into the collar and a quilted lining. The only issue is these coats run a little small, especially if you have hips. My build is evenly proportioned butt I always size up because these coats run narrow in the hips.

Great trench!
1 September 2019

I bought this in the forest green as the navy was out of stock. I've used it most days since I've purchased given the strange summer weather. It's incredibly waterproof, great quality, looks great (love the colour and utton detail) and the hood packs nicely into the collar. The trench is not warm and slightly windproof so will need extra layers in colder temperatures (I generally am more sensisitive to wind and cold than most). It also is not very breathable for hot summer showers but I bought it purely for its waterproofness - it'll probably be fine for breathability in cooler months.I am 160cm and bought the small. Perfect for my shoulders and it sits just above my knee which I like. The sleeves are a little long for me but I don't mind this. Has everything you could need!
17 January 2020

I purchased this rain coat about a month ago after EXTENSIVE shopping around. I wanted something that was windproof, waterproof and lightly insulated. I needed something that would be good for commuting to the city. This coat is exactly that. It is a good length, hitting me right around my knees (I am 5'4''). It has zippered pockets and the main coat zipper goes all the way up to the neck which helps keep warm. It has an adjustable hood that packs into the collar when you want or can snap to the collar. I also love the belt and double breasted snaps, for a little bit of a classic trench style. The day it arrived it was pouring, and I went to run errands and was very dry and not miserable at all! A bit pricey but it had everything I wanted and did not disappoint when put to the test.

Perfect Raincoat
1 April 2023

This raincoat is perfect. Zipper, snaps, side slit pockets, elastic cuffs, hidden hood, and great length. The best part is that it is a little more dressy with the belt. Can be worn for all sorts of occasions. I am very pleased. Took a while to get here but I planned for that and it made it in time for my trip.

Perfect for rainy weather
15 July 2021

I bought the black version. I really like the trench style I think it looks better than most rain jackets and the quality of the material doesn't feel cheap. The only thing I didn't like is that the hood isn't completely removable and when you fold it in the collar, it looks thick. Also, the jacket does run big but its perfect for rainy weather especially during the summer because the back flap makes it breathable so you're not sweating!

Slightly tight but good
12 December 2021

Nice coat but a bit tight for me. I’m 152 lbs 5’1” and bought a Medium. Bought a Navy color and it came with Navy blue buttons — had expected Copper buttons, like in the pictures. The coat is very well-made, waterproof and warm. I like the previous Welsey better than this Welsey II, because of the former’s copper buttons and red/pink lining. Good quality, like all Helly Hansens.

Super functional and stylish, but sizing is weird
10 October 2019

This jacket is literally perfect for autumn or early spring weather if you live in a rainy and/or windy climate. I have been searching for a jacket with these features for years, and am SO ecstatic that I finally found one. It's lightly insulated, waterproof, has a large hood, and, on top of the technical features, still manages to look classy. The hood doesn't have a drawstring but it does snap closed to keep the wind from blowing it off.The downside is the sizing. I didn't subtract any stars for this because I was able to find a size that worked, but it's worth mentioning. As a previous reviewer noted, the shoulder fit seems to be a little tight relative to the rest of the jacket. I didn't subtract any stars for this because I was able to find a size that worked, but it's worth mentioning. As a previous reviewer noted, the shoulder fit seems to be a little tight relative to the rest of the jacket. In my case, I first ordered a small based on my measurements in the size chart, and found that while the shoulder fit was perfect, the rest of the jacket was awkwardly baggy. I ended up having to return it and size down. Now the shoulder fit is narrower than I would like, but the jacket fits everywhere else and is overall exactly what I was looking for, so it's not a dealbreaker. The fit of this jacket is relaxed, so you can easily layer. After downsizing, I tried out wearing sweaters and another light coat underneath and had no issues.--In case it helps others with sizing:I am 5'5", 130lbs, have a straight body shape, and my bust/waist/hip measurements are all in the "small" range on the sizing chart provided by HH. I downsized to an XS to get the correct fit for this jacket. I own another HH jacket in size small which fits correctly, but it's a fitted style versus relaxed and that may explain why a small was too baggy on me in this case.

Unsure, but probably good
13 October 2022

I haven't tested this product in bad weather. The jacket I ordered was too large for me. It looks like it could be cute and a good option for around the city and work. The problem is it's really noisy to move in. I would feel awkward at a work meeting taking this on and off. Wish it was different fabric. But still cute if you don't care about the noise.
