These were the two mesh chairs I had narrowed my choice down to, not wanting to spend a thousand pounds on a chair.I went with this because after trying both out I felt that despite the more limited adjustments, it offered better support for computer "work", allowing me to sit more forward than the humanscale. Within a week or so of having it I noticed that it felt a little "wobbly" when sitting foward on it i.e. not leaning back. When I described this to Herman Miller they said it sounded normal but I felt it wasn't. When I described this to Herman Miller they said it sounded normal but I felt it wasn't. The seller didn't get back to me during the return period which forced me to have to keep the chair and use it's warranty. Now, aside from that one wobble issue, the chair felt fine. Fast forward a bit and a herman miller engineer comes to replace a part. He also said that with these chairs there is supposed to be a bit of "play" or lateral movement (the aforementioned wobble) otherwise the gas system simply wouldn't work. Anyway, he did replace the part and now there is less "play", attributed by the engineer to variance in engineering tolerances. Unfortunately, since this "repair", for some reason something now feels off about the chair. It makes loud plasticy cracking noises where before it didn't (it did make some but not to this extent), makes odd noises when wheeling around, which it didn't before and just has a different, less smooth feel. Now the latter could be just the mind playing tricks but those noises certainly aren't. Credit to Herman Miller customer service, they've been really good, compared to the seller .. but I still feel it's been more hassle than it should have been and I would have been better off with a Marcus from Ikea. The design is stylish, it's light and airy and easy to use (another reason I chose it) but it's definitely more of a task chair than a chill and binge-watch downloads chair. Great for competitive gaming sessions where you need to be alert but not exactly comfortable for much else since leaning back requires applying constant force. Surprisingly the fixed armrests don't actually get in the way at all.Well, live and learn, I will see how it goes. I don't really want to risk another "repair" but if the odd noises don't iron themselves out and persist then I guess I'll have to - either that or sell it on =/Shame really because it is a nice chair but despite looking like it's worth the money, it doesn't quite feel like it and let's face it, feel > looks with a task chair.

Assembled in UK (not made in the UK) / some wobble

Firstly, to clarify the information on the JL website - this chair is not made in the UK. It is made in the US and the parts are assembled at HM's factory in the UK.On the positive side, it's a fairly comfortable office chair of a size that doesn't dominate home offices like some office chairs can do. I think the design looks good too.My reason for the 3* review is, like another reviewer pointed out, there is some wobble in the seat which seems to be caused by a tiny bit of play where the seat post meets the base. I imagine most people might not even notice it and if they did they wouldn't care, but for me a chair that costs as much as this shouldn't have that sort of slight wobble when it's brand new.

I work from home and had been noticing my posture was getting worse alongside developing some back pain so decided to invest in a new desk chair.Hermann Miller is obviously synonymous with brilliant design in both form and function, but I was initially apprehensive due to the price. The Setu is well worth the investment if you spend a lot of time at a desk and don't want to damage your back. It gives a sort of weightless feel thanks to the mesh seat that I really like. It's also one of the few office chairs I've found that don't slide around on wooden floors with the slightest push thanks to the breaking castors. It also has great lumbar support for me and moulds to your body perfectly.

Beautiful and very comfortable

This is a beautiful item of furniture. It looks good and works very well.It is easy to use - unpack it (not difficult!), adjust the seat height (again, not difficult) and you are ready to go. The chair is engineered to adapt to your favoured sitting position so it moves and flexes when you do. It all feels thoroughly secure and comfortable. It costs more than I was thinking of spending but it was worth it.

Beautiful stylish ergonomic chair
6 December 2020

This is a truly beautiful chair to look at. I love the spine-shaped curved back, it's so elegant. I chose this chair as I work in my open plan kitchen/lounge and didn't want a black monstrosity but something lighter and more in keeping with the rest of the room. The chair comes ready made and you just lift it out of the box. The only adjustable setting is the height. I've found the lower back support is excellent but upper back less so (I add a small cushion). I've taken a star off because I can't help wincing at the price I paid (and that was on Black Friday) but I guess you get what you pay for with ergonomic chairs and I will certainly get many hours of use out of it.

Fantastic chair
7 December 2021

I bought this chair during lockdown and love it. Amazingly comfortable and good to look at. The mesh seat and back give great support with just a tiny bit of "give" to it. The arms give support without getting in the way. You can tilt back in the chair so you have options for when you're sitting through a long meeting. Marked down for value because I paid less than JL are asking though and you can currently get it for over £200 less from a London based office supplier, so let your fingers do the walking! But assuming the price is right, I would say this chair is worth every penny.

Fantastic chair for all day use
10 November 2020

I don't know why I didn't bite the bullet earlier but after months of working from home I finally did my research and it was the reviews here of this chair that prompted me to buy it. Very glad I did - I looks fantastic and is the most comfortable office chair I have ever used, including ones in actual offices (remember those?). Extremely supportive of the lower back and great to sit in all day. Very pretty looking thing too - mine is the alpine. Recommend 100%

Herman Miller Setu Chair

Comfortable, good size (most office chairs are ridiculously large), uncomplicated (just up and down functionality). Works well in a home office or small work area.Sometimes I find my feet clashing with the legs - definitely would recommend the semi-polished finish if you are using barefoot or in socks and the unpolished sides to the legs are very rough. Mesh is a bit firm at the moment but I hope that will ease up over time.I would like a bit more transparency over where the chair (or parts of the chair) is/are made - I am still not 100% sure if this has come from HM in Michigan or if it's made in China.

Setu is one of the cheaper Herman Miller chairs, brought for my WFH office. Super comfortable for working in all day, actually more comfortable than my chair at the office. Really refreshing to have a great chair without a 100 levers to work out!Highly recommended.

Terrific
27 November 2021

I've been waiting for this chair to go on sale for 11 months. I wanted the best, was prepared to wait for it, and this is it. Lightweight, lovely colour, and the reviews are all spot on. It feels like sitting in a big marshmallow with arms. I love it. The delivery guys were very helpful, and they take away all the packaging. In fact they produced in out of the box in the back of the lorry, and then brought it in, all done and dusted in 5 minutes.
