I really love this sweet, warm, subtle yet sexy scent. This fragrance has everything considering it has hints of vanilla, amber, floral, citrus, and the slightest drops of caramel. It may seem a-lot for one fragrance yet it somehow all blends together to this unique long lasting scent. I find it suitable for everyday wear, usually in the colder, brisker months since I prefer more of a stronger citrus or floral scent during the hotter months. It's the perfect gift for birthdays and most definitely the holidays. There is nothing that I wouldn't change anything about it although many would argue that they would prefer to splurge on a perfume that could be worn seasonal. This is a beautiful amber. After sampling a range of six amber scents, I first thought that L’Eau d’Ambre Extrême by L’Artisan Fragrances was going to be my favourite, but hours later, going through them again almost all of them had turned into powder long after dry-down. But not this one. This one remained true to amber from beginning to end. Unexpected, but if you want amber, this is a good choice. Also, if you're looking for a more sophisticated Lord of Misrule by LUSH, this is a great contender, it is all the amber and none of the Oreo scent.

This is a true, European style, classic amber-labdanum combination. While I don’t agree with age or gender limitations on makeup or fragrance, I do believe it would be hard for someone to enjoy this fragrance if they were looking for a sweeter, more caramelized amber fragrance like those of the brands mentioned above. Hermès has the most sophisticated and unique fragrances in the market - L’ambre Des Merveilles is one of my favorite scents of all time, it is a distillation of warm and sensual amber, patchouli and vanilla notes. The bottle is truly as beautiful as the fragrance itself; it is suppose to resemble a magnifying glass, as to see the world in a different and marvelously new prospective. L’ambre Des Merveilles checks all the boxes: uniqueness, longevity, and is a true perfumer’s fragrance. This little bottle of magic is worth every penny!

Hermes L'Ambre des Merveilles is the perfect cosy scent to wear at home. It is soft and inoffensive and not as 'loud' as some other fragrances in Eau de Merveilles line. It also doesn't have any citrus notes to it and labdanum is much quieter as opposed to Elixir des Merveilles.L'Ambre des Merveilles is a warming amber mixed with a touch of vanilla. The scent is quite linear, it has some sillage the first hour or so after application, but then slowly becomes a skin scent and after 4 hours it pretty much disappears. That is why most of the time I use it at home, because it allows me to “change into” another perfume if I feel like going out.

I love amber but when it comes to fragrance I’m picky. I don’t want anything to heavy or head shop esque. The amber in this perfume is divine! It’s everything I want in a scent and more. To me this is a salty, deep, spicy, smooth, and earthy amber. With the vanilla though it rounds it out to make it so smooth and wearable. I also love labdanum and I feel this note adds to the depth of the amber. The patchouli I feel adds the earthiness to this as well. Together it is all divine! This has moderate sillage and the scent for me it lasts hours on the skin so I would say it’s very long lasting. This is my first Hermes fragrance I’m still eyeing the Elixir and that is second on my list to get now that I have L’ Ambre. I don’t categorize perfume by gender so I could see both men and women wearing this. The bottle is gorgeous and I found the 100ml tester for a reasonable price. The box doesn’t matter to me on this one since this is and will be well used. It’s cold where I am right now and I love it I’m so excited to try this when it gets warmer. A simple number of notes yet a deep and complex scent, I adore it! Recommended. :)

A great everyday fall/winter scent
22 December 2016

I have been experimenting with Amber based scents and this is my favorite so far. So far I have like all of the Hermes scents I have sampled, but I held off on getting any samples of this one due to the patch note. I am no lover of the patch. This settles into a nice mellow amber with a hint of vanilla sweetness. The patch note in this is very light to me. I know it is there, but it does not overpower as I have found in just about Any patch fragrance I have ever smelled. It really just seems to deepen and bring warmth to the amber note, taming the vanilla from reaching gourmand sweetness.I get a great longevity out of this, but that is true for all resin based scents (labdanum in this one) on me. Another great from Hermes

On me, this is the best of the of the Eau des Merveille line. And i have a history with this line.My very first purchase in this line was the Elixir which smelled wonderfully citrusy but still warm and cozy. I liked it well enough but kept it mostly because i got at least a compliment a day when i wore it. Still, it has a certain unisex quality on me and i couldn't help feeling like i smelled a bit like a guy. I finished the bottle but didn't repurchase. That said, it was the most compliment getting fragrance i had worn in a while from men and women alike. I wish i loved it as much as the masses did.So i tried the original Eau de Merveille. This was definitely more feminine than Elixir and that one masculine note was thankfully missing. Unfortunately for me so was the wow. I couldn't help thinking that this would probably be perfect in a eau de parfum concentration. It became my go to workplace frag. No offense, no wow, just a nice sophisticated smell... but i wanted more. Then came L'ambre. At first sniff i hated it and didn't touch it again for maybe a year. I had long moved on from Hermes at this point. After purchasing another fragrance, a sales rep gave me a sample of it to try. Boy am i glad she did. This is the perfect balance of wow and sophistication. While i could wear wear this to work, i think of L'ambre as the Little black dress of this collection. Its better suited for date or Oscar night! Elixir is the edgy Leather Skirt, Eau is the pair of jeans. And this LBD is a showstopper. It combined the head turning appeal of Elixir with the comfort of Eau and the amber just adds that extra something special to make this a very sexy yet sophisticated fragrance. This one is going in my holy grail list and will be the one my daughter will/wont want to wear because it reminds her if her mother. And that is just fine with me.

This is the first time I've ever wanted to review a fragrance. I'm not a connoisseur by any stretch. I was in the market for a new signature fragrance after my love affair with Organza by Givenchy finally ended after 12+ years. . I would still be wearing Organza had it not been reformulated years ago. I just couldn't bring myself to buy it again. A wonderful Sephora salesperson in Chesterfield, MO recommended L'Ambre. I LOVE this fragrance! No, I'm Obsessed. I can't stop wanting to smell it. It's the type of aroma that I want to inhabit my clothes, my bathrobe, my bed linens, my scarfs, my blankets, my undies. My only issue with it is that after about a couple of hours, I no longer smell it. It becomes a skin scent that is only detectable up close. My only issue with it is that after about a couple of hours, I no longer smell it. It becomes a skin scent that is only detectable up close. But the good thing about that is I can comfortably wear it to work and not feel like 'Pigpen' with a cloud of fragrance assaulting those around me. Yesterday at a meeting several people commented on it after they hugged me or got close. It's the perfect fragrance for introverts like me: it offers an understated, secret surprise reserved for those I allow to share my intimate space! It's soft, comforting, and familiar. Out of the 10 or so fragrance samples that' I've tested these last 6 weeks of my search, it was the only one that I literally missed when I could no longer detect it. I knew I was hooked when I started applying it at bedtime so I could enjoy it during my nighttime reading-in-bed ritual. What a lovely way to begin and end the day! Well done, Hermes! Looking forward to trying the others in this line and enjoying L'Ambre for years to come. By the way, will a lotion or smaller sizes be coming???

Loveliness, Comfort and Joy in a Bottle!

I'm not able to describe its notes, and frankly I can't tell you if I'm smelling amber or citrus or oakmoss, or if it's an oriental or gourmand. As I stated on another site, it simply makes me smile. It's 'comfort and joy' in a bottle, and I wish everyone is able to find a fragrance that evokes the sense of being wrapped tightly in a mother's embrace! It is simply marvelous!
