This pretty Fall-patterned backpack is perfect in so many ways. I purchased it for travel and was pleasantly surprised. The size isn't too overwhelming. The straps are wide and super comfortable. It holds so much more than you'd think but it doesn't feel bulky. It comes with an inside padded section that's perfect for protecting a laptop. There are two smaller pockets on the outside front where it's easy to stash the things you may need like a phone or wallet. This backpack really has all the bells and whistles!

Our daughters old Herschel bag was replaced under warranty and she needed a new one. We saw this bag in store and it felt very high quality like her old bag with the nice red and white liner and lined laptop sleeve. That bag was all black so we ordered online to get the colour way she wanted. We were VERY disappointed when the bag arrived. The bag material is very thin, the laptop sleeve isn’t lined and it overall just feels like a cheap bag I could have gotten from some budget bag company. They definitely cheaped out on this latest version. If this is where all Herschel bags are going I would steer clear of these bags and shop somewhere else. I’ll give it one star for the warranty and overall look, but you expect more the price.

I have been using Herschel backpacks for many years. I used to have a Harrison model which was a perfect backpack for me. Unfortunately Herschel discontinued this model and I switched Pop Quiz.This is a new version of Pop Quiz, I've got it as a replacement to my old backpack (thanks to lifetime warranty) and I have to say that the new Pop Quiz is terrible. I love This new upgrade but I think it’s decline in quality but increase in price. I had this bag from many years. And tis new version doesn’t have fleece pocket for laptop and glasses. This new one doesn’t have as much padding in laptop pocket. Honestly, need to look for other options. Herschel has joined hands with other brands too where there is increase in prices but decline in quantity.Thanks
My daughter was in need of a new back pack. She currently had a north face bag. But with all the extra compartments and bag being designed more narrow at the top she could not fix all her books, laptop and lunch. She has 5 mins to get to her next class so stopping to unload at her locker isn’t a convenient option. This bag is sooooo roomy and comfortable for all day wear. She has not complained of back pain or not having enough room. This new bag is so beautiful, practical and checks all the marks for my high schooler. She’s even is surprised she can stuff her coat/hoodie in there too, in addition to all her books. It’s a perfect school bag, you won’t regret buying it!
I bought this backpack as a lighter weight alternative for my typical North Face Recon pack. Its super lightweight and stands up on its own. The side pockets can fit a 26L yeti (it has to be in pocket first before you pack the bag). I will say the zippers are hard to use. The waterproof one on the front is really not necessary for me (commuting via car to work). The other ones can’t make the turns well. You need two hands for sure. I’m actually really disappointed that my work laptop (2015 HP 13”) doesn’t fit in the sleeve. Even my personal Macbook Pro (2012, I know personal problem) won’t fit. Its like 1/2” too short and narrow. I just don’t use the sleeve and put my work computer in the built in laptop pocket. Everything has been fine though. I've had the original Pop Quiz for years and the only thing I ever wished it had was an exterior water bottle pocket. I thought this new model was finally perfecting the old design. Instead they basically made everything worse (no more red and white stripe interior lining, no more fleece lined laptop compartment or quick access pocket, less structured material, etc.). The water bottle pocket addition is a step forward while everything else is a step backward. I wouldn't recommend this new model Pop Quiz at all.

New Pop Quiz is a huge downgrade an not worth it!I was hugely disappointed with this bag. I have one I bought three years ago that I love but hate the new model. It no longer has a fleece-padded computer compartment or sunglasses holder. Downgraded materials, the details have changed and they are charging you more for an inferior product. I recommend that you look at their sale items if you want a better bag at a cheaper price. More expensive and not as good.

I do extensive research before I buy a product that will be used as an EDC so when I decided to purchase another Herschel backpack it tells you a little about the quality of their products for their reasonable prices.The feature that I found most exciting was the water bottle holders which were noticeably absent from the original pop quiz backpack! It is a game-changer because I can now fit my 40 oz Hydro Flask and other items I need quick access to. Another change that I liked was their switch to a black internal lining as opposed to the signature red. I also enjoyed the removal of the synthetic leather from the bottom of the bag which I mentioned earlier was where the wear and tear was most visible.There are some things that I did not enjoy which was the removal of the fleece lining in both the easy access pocket and the laptop sleeve as well as the removal of the small inner pocket in the main compartment where I used to store a bottle (since there was no bottle holder and other small items such as my wallet, perfume, portable charger or sunglasses case). Although I found this disappointing it wasn’t a deal-breaker. Herschel could improve on providing better padding to the straps which adds additional comfort to students like me who carry a substantial load throughout the day. I found that Herschel lacks in their ergonomic designs and appears to lag behind competitors when it comes to prioritizing customer comfort. It would also be convenient for Herschel to add in another pocket inside the main compartment and I might even dare to suggest another sleeve for smaller electronics.To summarize: Overall a great backpack that suits my daily routine. Trust your judgment and see what works best for you.
