Hikvision ColorVu DS-2CD2387G2-LU 8MP/4K Fixed 2.8mm Turret IP Camera, Black

I have been using the Hikvision ColorVu DS-2CD2387G2-LU 8MP camera for a couple of weeks and it has the best video quality of all my Hikvision cameras. The porch lights from nearby houses provide all the light that is needed to provide great night vision! I have not used the Dual Spotlights, since they have not been needed. The camera is connected to a Hikvision NVR via POE.

I upgraded from 4MP ColorVu. I was hoping for improved day and night images. The day images are absolutely better. Night images are the same. Maybe slightly better for static subjects. Moving subjects are no better. I guess keeping the night images the same is an accomplishment considering the resolution is double. Overall I'm glad I did it.

This is an identical review to the 2347 I also purchased. The only difference between that camera and this one is the size of the sensor and megapixels. Generally speaking they are claimed to do full night color everything, which is false.On paper seems like it would be a great camera given its touted night vision abilities in full color. In reality, night vision is only goodfor still images. Any motion requires gobs of light to eliminate blur.You really have to up the exposure (increase shutter speed), whichrequires ever more light, to eliminate blur. My previous IR cameraworked much better in the dark without requiring visible lighting.Unfortunately these cameras don't work with IR, so they either require the LEDs built into the camera to be on or ... MoreThis is an identical review to the 2347 I also purchased. As it stands, no night video I've captured so far is able torecognize a person unless they are within about 10 feet of the camera. Otherwise they are just a blur with no meaningful details other than color of clothes. Certainly no facial features, which my IR camera could do pretty well.
