My dog has gone through it with her bowel issues every since she was a puppy. She always had inconsistent soft stool. She then developed a super sensitive stomach to where she would have diarrhea for weeks if given a treat that didnβt agree with her. Now that sheβs been on Hills I/D her stools are formed and we havenβt had any other problems. We even feed her the kibble as her βtreatsβ and she absolutely loves it. She gets so excited every time we feed her. I recommend this food 1000%. I know itβs pricey but itβs well worth paying a little extra to have our pup happy and healthy!

After years of giving my boxer with pancreatitis this expensive vet prescribed food, the formula was changed and I was not notified in any way. It took me over 1/4 of the existing bag to figure out why my boxer was having frequent loose stools. Chewy customer service was unwilling to refund for the open bag, even as a courtesy. They were able to return and refund the new bag that was on autoship order. Obviously, I will not be able to use any of it and am disappointed in the outcome.

I don't normally write reviews, but thought this might be helpful for someone else who is struggling with puppy digestive problems. We have a 6 month old puppy with digestive issues that had gotten worse over the past 3 months. We tried EVERYTHING (changes in food and different supplements) to get her back on track and nothing was working. We put her on I/D 2 weeks ago and her problems have all but disappeared. We still give her a daily probiotic, psyllium husk powder and Tylan Powder, but the food definitely made a huge difference. We also cut out all dog treats and are using plain Cheerios for training now. I did order some Hill's Prescription treats for dogs on I/D that I will be introducing this week. Hope this helps someone out there dealing with the same type ...Β MoreI don't normally write reviews, but thought this might be helpful for someone else who is struggling with puppy digestive problems. I have a 13 year old collie/shepherd/whatever mix. She was having constant diarrhea. After ruling out worms and stomach/intestine problems the vet recommended this. She's now a happier, healthier dog with no gut issues. This really worked for her. She had been on a grain free, mature dog diet for years. Until that stopped agreeing with her system.
I got my rescue pup when she was 5 months old, and she has had off and on stomach issues. I had her on sensitive stomach food, that helped for awhile, but her tummy issues started again. The vet decided to put her on this and no more loose stools, plus an added benefit is sheβs absorbing more nutrients, so less poop! She was eating the kibble mixed with a little bit of the i/d canned, but decided she didnβt like that combination anymore. So she gets the canned separately, mixed with some Fortiflora powder and the kibble goes into her Kong wobble toy and she loves it now that she thinks itβs a treat. So far, so good.
My 3 year old German Shepherd started having really bad diahrrea for about a month (had to throw out a huge rug). My vet tested him for parasites - he was clean so she told me to switch dog food - even though I was giving him a really good, expensive digestive food. This was one of the foods she recommended. It is ungodly expensive, I just got the smallest bag to see if it would help. After almost a month, he still has loose stools. I am NOT SOLD and am switching to another brand she recommended. I am really disappointed in this brand.
This is the ONLY kibble that my Standard Poodle puppy can tolerate. I had tried 4 others prior. I am so thankful her veterinarian prescribed this i/d Digestive Care kibble for her or I would be hand making everything for her every day as I had been doing since practically the day I adopted her. She hasn't had one upset stomach or bowel since starting eating this food! She eats this in combination with i/d Digestive Care wet/canned food and she is extremely satisfied. It costs a bit more than other brands; but, I feel assured that it is easily digestible, quality dog food, especially since I need a prescription for it from the veterinarian. It has been such a relief to know that our baby's issue was a dietary one, and although it took some trial and error until we ...Β MoreThis is the ONLY kibble that my Standard Poodle puppy can tolerate. My dog is a two year old Giant Schnoodle, named Scarlett. She is a pretty fussy eater. It may be she is just persnickety or maybe she has some GI sensitivity. She loves the I/D canned food, but I was hoping to find something a bit less pricey. She has been eating it (the I/d digestive care dry food) for 3 days now and maybe, just maybe this will be the food she will stick with. She has been eating it and leaving the old food behind. She has a history of eating a new food for a few days and then decides she doesn't like it anymore. Again this may be that she likes the food, but the food doesn't like her. If this food works out I will be thrilled and give it another review with 5 stars.
I have spent over $500 troubleshooting a problem with my dog that ultimately was caused by the vet placing her on this Hill's "Digestive Care" diet (of which I spent $175 for this "special" food). She originally used A Competitor's "Euk" Puppy Food and was transitioned toward this food while being treated for parasites. After the parasites were completely gone and after antibiotic treatment, 3 days later diarrhea started and and it was suggested she be put back on metronidazole for 21 days. The diarrhea returned after this treatment. Again the vet suggested putting her back on the metronidazole and I said time out and got a second opinion. The new vet did some testing to confirm no parasite issues (there were not) and agreed that transitioning off the hill's food ...Β MoreI have spent over $500 troubleshooting a problem with my dog that ultimately was caused by the vet placing her on this Hill's "Digestive Care" diet (of which I spent $175 for this "special" food). The new vet did some testing to confirm no parasite issues (there were not) and agreed that transitioning off the hill's food would be a good test. Her stool was normal in 3-4 days and is back to normal. I contacted Hill to share the story and provide info about the problem for their benefit and when I asked about the Hill's "100% Satisfaction Guarantee" they said I was welcome to return the unused portion (I had been feeding my dog this crud for months). I told them to keep the money and my experience with Hill's is now closed except to share my story wherever people might choose to buy this product.
my 12 yr old eats both wet and dry. She has IBS which is why she is on it. Looks like we need a food change after a few years. She has been having diarrhea which was totally controlled. I got coupons for the wet food but what good are they. I reported wet food and was told no changes but that can't be true. I am seeing issues reported for both. Time for a food change unfortunately. Not worth it for my senior dogs quality of life.
