This is my cats favourite flavour, followed by beef then chicken. Ginger was diagnosed with renal disease 2 years ago and Hills KD has improved her blood results and is maintainingthem at close to normal. Excellent food which she enjoys with great results.

My cat wouldn't eat this brand of kidney food as prescribed by the vet. She would eat other kidney food brands but not this. Tried it with another cat who needed kidney care and they refused it also. I tried my other cat on the hills prescription metabolic food and he won't eat it either. It must not taste good and they all turn their noses up at hills!

I got Hill's prescription for digestive health after getting an intestinal blockage surgery. She was on the special food for a week and then switched to Hill's Chicken for an indoor adult cat. She loves it, before this, she only ate Rachel Ray's chicken crunchy food, she is a very picky eater. She meows so loudly when she wants more food, she loves it!!

Amber is our nearly 18 year old cat. She has been diagnosed with Kidney Disease which is not unusual for a cat of her age. We had her on Hills K/D dry food after she was first diagnosed because it was recommended by the Vet. She was quite happy with it and was doing well. The Vet changed his supplier and wanted her to go on Royal Canin so we tried her on it. She hated it and so did we because it stank the house out with smell akin to rancid meat. I returned the pack, got my money back and put the cat back on Hills - no problems since and her condition has slightly improved. So we can recommend Hills K/D as the as one that works,
Our Vet recommended a change to early renal food, so we gradually changed from whiskers/Felix/Gourmet Perle to Hills Early renal food. The wet food has a softer texture than previous foods, our cat was a bit of a jelly/gravy licker, leaving behind the lumps but so far he has finished the bowl 98% of the time. He also behaves like a greedy cat again meowing and pawing at the food cupboard. Much more expensive but it seems worth it as wastage is very low.
I tend to switch between the cans and the pouches for little Bob as she gets bored of one flavour every now and then and won't eat it. I'm not sure whether the pouches have changed over the last 6 months or so but she is becoming less keen on them altogether now?Do you have any different flavours in the cans? As that's what I'm having the most success with at the moment. Sadly for Bob, I don't think they'll be making an olive flavoured one anytime soon though.Either way, these may stink to the extreme, but seem to be the most palatable special diet food, no matter what Royal Canin say! Very frustrating that both of my local vets don't stock them any more.
I have tried my cat with many types of renal diet and this is the one he dislikes the least. Maybe because its in gravy and he likes jelly ones- but he will eat it if hungry whereas the others hell ignore. Warmed for 10 seconds in the microwave helps. Its hard getting our little darlings to eat any renal diet but this is the one I will carry on buying. Can mix with 13 of normal senior food and is more readily accepted.
My darling Bluebell has always been a fussy eater just like many cats are and has always preferred fish flavoured cat food. When her kidneys started to show signs of age, my vet recommended Hills KD prescription diet in his words If you can get her to eat it, we will be giving her the best chance on top of the daily pill I am about to prescribe. He only stocked a meat flavour, I pureed it with a little water into a pate as Bluebell has few teeth left, but as I suspected she wouldnt touch it. I looked for a fish version and Pet Planet stocked it. She loves it and a year down the line, her kidneys at the moment are stable and all bloods in the normal range.
My beautiful cat has special needs. She has been diagnosed with Kidney disease so she can only eat food specifically designed for cats with Kidney disease. There is not alot of variety out there for cats with Kidney disease and my cat is a very fussy eater. I tried her on these pouches and she actually showed some interest in them. She loves the small chunks of meat and the light gravy it comes in. One pouch usually lasts her all day so it is perfect for her. These pouches offer variety for my cat cos she also likes the pate I give her from the same brand.
I bought the Hills Prescription Diet k/d Food, cans, pouches, and Chicken Dry. Also the Royal Canin equivalent. So far he prefers the dry food, especially the Hills, and just eats a few morsels of the wet food, and licks the gravy off. However, I think he needs time to get used to the new diet, and today was eating more of the wet food, also the Royal Canin Dry. He is 18, and has always had the Hills Science Diet dried food, as well as various wet cat foods, his favourite being Sheba. He certainly seems fitter since he started on the diets, and can jump better.
