Hiplok Original Wearable Bike Chain Lock - Black
An uncompromisingly safe part made of hardened steel with tested theft protection. Individually adjustable for a girth between 90-120 cm with Velcro. A maximum closing circumference of 90cm offers enough reserve to secure the bike almost everywhere. The chain design makes it much more flexible than a shackle lock. Because it can be carried on the body, no extra bag is needed just to transport the lock. In addition, the weight shift to the hips and not to the back and shoulders significantly improves the balance of the rider on the bike. The result is a significantly better driving experience and a relieved back. Since Hiplok locks do not have to be attached or hung anywhere on the bike, there is also no risk of damage to the frame during transport. Clear lines of a noble puristic bike remain and are not disturbed by an otherwise necessary lock holder. Equipped with a large 3M reflective logo, this lock also contributes to more security through better visibility in road traffic. Perhaps the decisive plus in low light conditions or at night.

I am a bike commuter and usually use a U-lock plus a cable to lock up my bike. I was excited to try this new bike lock option, in the hopes that it would make my daily locking routine a bit easier. Alas, this lock wasn't a good fit for me. I found the lock itself a bit cumbersome to learn (the Velcro is a nice touch for securing the lock to your body, but I found it cumbersome when trying to actually lock the bike up), and thought it was a bit bulky to wear while riding. The lock is long enough to secure a tire and frame, but not both tires (usually I use a cable to secure the front tire to the U Lock) and my cable didn't fit in the Hiplok lock.On the plus side, the product seemed well made, and I could imagine this being a good option for some people who don't ... MoreI am a bike commuter and usually use a U-lock plus a cable to lock up my bike. Just wasn't the best option for me.

This chain lock means business and it is heavy, but that isn't a problem when you are riding and wearing it. Gives you lots of options if you aren't sure what you'll be able to lock up to. If you already have a gold secure rated D lock and you want a second lock, possibly consider the lighter version of this lock which is bronze rated -then you won't have to carry so much metal around.

I liked the chain: it is much easier to get around front wheel/rack than my old u-lock and still feels pretty secure. Wearing around the waist is very comfortable, so much that I frequently forget to remove when I get home. I like that the sleeve is reflective, adding a layer of safety. The belt is comfortable as long as it is snug around the waist and as a small person I need to pay extra attention when putting it on to make sure the velcro goes around the loop for its tightest fit. Once I figured this, I started loving it.I only wish the sleeve was easy to remove and wash since it gets dirty from the bike and it can get into the clothes. It seems solid and durable, but I am happy to report that the chain was a deterrent enough, and I don’t think anybody tried ... MoreI liked the chain: it is much easier to get around front wheel/rack than my old u-lock and still feels pretty secure. Excellent quality. Sophisticated key lock, chain feels heavy when worn-weighs around 2kgs. very solid, safe construction gives feeling of security. Length was shorter than expected but enough to lock the main frame, back wheel and secure it to a location. Overall excellent product. Great durability.
This chain lock is comfortable to wear and easy to put around your waist. It was a little difficult and clumsy to actually lock my bike; I suspect some of this was due to me being new to wearable chain locks like this. Even after getting used to the locking mechanism, I ran into issue using this lock on its own. It's not long enough to lock back wheel + frame + bike rack on many types of racks. It's much more functional with a U-lock. I liked the idea of being able to wear my lock and have more space in my bag for occasions when I'm not worries about someone taking a front wheel. That only works at some locations. Biking to a new place, I would need to bring a U-lock as well which limits the utility I was hoping for.Overall, this lock appears sturdy and definitely ... MoreThis chain lock is comfortable to wear and easy to put around your waist. Great lock, really happy with it. More portable than the gold secure version but still very heavy and fit for purpose. Secures around the waist comfortably enough. Just the right length to wrap around a pole and through the frame and rear wheel. Only giving it 4 stars as it squeaks sometimes where the chain meets the padlock, which is extremely irritating!
I really do like this lock. I feel comfortable leaving my nicer bike outside while I work all day with it because it looks and feels durable enough. Holding it in your hand feels heavy, but when you get it around your waist, that weight disappears. I’ve done one longer trip (35 miles) with it and didn’t notice it while riding.Lots of people complain about the lock itself, but it’s easy to use. The only thing I don’t like is that you need the key to both lock and unlock it.
I'm quite a small frame (size 8 - not much in the way of hips!) so I worried it wouldnt fit too well, but it's great! It's comfortable, and I honestly don't notice I'm wearing it - even on long rides (I did a 26 mile with it on last summer). The lock feels sturdy and I'm confident in leaving my lovely road bike chained up with it.It's not the longest lock so I do sometimes have to be a bit inventive in getting the frame and front wheel attached to something - but that's only on non-standard bike-lock points (like the shopping trolley rack in Lidl).
Not very good for PNW weather. The reflective parts become damaged from repeated locking/unlocking between bike frame and bike rack pole. If you do not have undercover storage this bike lock will be wet/gross to put on to your waist to ride. I do trust the lock but rain, grease and dirt accumulated on the fabric is not great to put back on to waist.
I am very impressed by the strength and security of the lock; however, the weight is very noticeable.I typically ride with a U-lock that fits into a strap on my messenger bag or attaches to my bike frame, so the new weight distribution was a difficult adjustment.I have no concerns of my bike getting stolen while using the lock, but I am not overly interested in carrying the weight around my waist.
