Keep in mind the Australian U8HAU is DIFFERENT from the highly praised positively reviewed U8H you see online. It sure is super bright (to the extent my eyes hurt) and I have no complains with the colours. But, the local dimming zones are way less than the regular U8H and thus the blooming effect is very obvious when viewing from the sides - so I wouldn’t get this if you plan to sit around the TV. Also, keep in mind it’s not Android TV. But otherwise, you can’t get a more affordable mini-LED TV with local dimming zones with HDR + 120Hz support. Plus, JB HiFi gave me a good price + excellent service so thumbs up!

Better than the S*****G that we just replaced after a mere 22 months. Lots of apps, some free content, wifi or ethernet option, clear and bright colours, didn't get the the sound bar but don't need it as sound is good. Remote has streaming app buttons which is nice. No channel 10 app but web app allows full screen option unlike other tv so no big deal. Minus one star as we've occasionally had to turn power on and off to reconnect after we've had an internet outage.

The value for money of this TV is extraordinary. A brilliant picture, bright screen in the brightest room and when coupled with an eARC capable speaker oh my goodness. You have a true home theatre experience. What I will say though, the VIDAA OS has a lot left to be desired. Channels re-appear after being deleted, apps are limited (no Spotify) and the apps that are on there don't perform that well (wish it was a Google TV) l. Kayo constantly asks me to 'sign in', Plex app can't play much of my 4K content but other devices can. And system management is minimal. But sound and picture cannot be questioned.

After reading all the reviews on Youtube and other websites where the TV got fantastic reviews I bought the U8H. It wasn't until I unpacked it at home I realised the Australian version of the U8H was nothing like the reviewed US version. The Australian version appears to miss out on many of the features of the US version and is basically a much lesser TV. The picture is OK and sound acceptable but I wonder how much better the US version would be with its more advanced features. I will definitely not make the same mistake again.
Great Picture for 4K movie streaming, good HD TV picture as well. The sound from the TV itself is quite good. However there are some faults that II can not resolve. Firstly there is no user manual to refer to (there is an onscreen manual which I find unsuitable). The internet keeps dropping out it will be working on some apps and not the others and it is a pain to go back to setup to reconnect to the internet only to find that the internet is generally connected. The operating system is Vidaa and not Google or Android which limits the apps you can install. You can add a Firestick, Apple TV, Google Chromecast, Roku etc but they are at your cost. The apps available on the Vidaa system are the general netflix, Disney, Prime etc but the rest are few and not much to ... MoreGreat Picture for 4K movie streaming, good HD TV picture as well. I have tried to contact Hisense half a dozen time and after waiting a half to three quarters of an hour the system tells you no consultants are available and cuts you off. I have sent emails as well without response. I believe there are other models with the Google OS and I would opt for that system if I had another chance because of the great picture the TV has for the price.
Excellent picture, very bright picture, sound is OK, I didn't get sound bar. Remote is good, channel change quick responding etc. Has Foxtel Now app installed which works well. Mini LED seems very good. Sadly they are on special now with advertised price $100 less for 55" model and $300 less for the 65" model. I think I would have gone for the 65" had the pricing been what it is today. I don't use it for gaming, so can't comment on that. I would recommend this TV no problems. Hopefully it will last a long time, 3 year warranty is bonus that you don't seem to get with Samsung or LG.
Worst television Ive ever purchased. The light bloom makes it impossible to watch movies. Dark scenes have so much light blooming that the image feels completely washed out and muted. Local dimming is non existent even when at max levels. No wonder they only show saturated and bright images when on display. Light bleeding from base of screen happening too. Also, dont get for a room unless you are perfectly centered to the screen, both vertically and horizontally. Beyond disappointed.
The Hisense 65U8HAU was very easy to setup. Given the size you will need some help to lay the TV down to attach the feet and then to lift it up. The sturdy design of the stand is more than ample to support the size of the TV and I noted that it also supports wall mounting. I installed it on my entertainment unit and it looks great. The setup screens were easy to follow and with a couple of clicks the TV was ready for use. There is an app you can download to control the TV however I found I haven't needed to use that. I have also configured the TV to work with Google assistant which makes searching for content very easy. We have a very bright room with a large window opposite the TV. I have also configured the TV to work with Google assistant which makes searching for content very easy. We have a very bright room with a large window opposite the TV. Our previous TV was difficult to watch because of reflections. The Hisense 65U8HAU doesn't suffer from this problem as the screen isn't as reflective and the picture is bright. Colours are great on this TV and the blacks are excellent. One of the best features of this TV is how quickly it starts up and I can launch straight into one of my favourite streaming services from the buttons on the remote. After pressing the power button the TV is ready to go in a couple of seconds. I highly recommend the Hisense 65U8HAU.
The display is nice overall but has some subtle motion jittering when changing scenes despite it being 200hz. The display brightness is poor via HDMI input when in HDR10+ mode. Dolby Vision via HDMI input has bad colour banding due to a colour bit depth signal issue which Hisense could fix in a firmware update but probably won’t. HDMI inputs are occasionally loosing signal momentarily which is an annoying problem also present in last year models. The built in VIDAA OS is slow and sluggish too. I suspect that Hisense has been able to achieve their competitively good prices by compromising on the HDMI input controller quality and the display signalling processing power which sadly makes the 200hz selling point irrelevant.
I bought this television as a budget big screen for the kids to enjoy, with 120hz and HDMI 2.1 for the PS5. In that sense, it's doing everything I'm asking of it. Out of the box it comes with everything dialled up to 11, with intense colour saturation and added 'smoothing', the can be changed with simple easy menus. Don't do a local dimming test (search Youtube) if you don't want to be disappointed. that being said my point of reference is a high end OLED so anything in comparison is a bit dull. positives are 120Hz game mode with freesync, high brightness for sunny rooms, dolby atmos and dolby vision (which isn't just a gimmick!) and a true view mode which changes settings to match the content makers intended settings with TV.
