Great for a newbie hiker like myself. Lightweight, not too bulky and looks great. Unless there are specific features you'd like, these will do as a first pair. I sized up half size and glad I did that as they are quite snug. If you're using thick socks I would suggest considering a whole size up.

I was looking to an alternative for blundstone boots on those winter days you just run errands & Im happy with the Hoka. I wore them in snow & in -10 temperature, they are very stable, non slippery & proven waterproof. I want cold as I wore merino sock & I was moving. Very satisfied!Note that the Gore-text compromises on the breathability of those boots. However the waterproof function seems to work really well.

I tried to like these boots. They were a replacement for an old pair of Hoka Challenger Mids (which I loved). I wanted a vibram sole, but couldn't deal with the ridiculous extension on the back of the heel. Like walking in clown feet. It made going down steps really cumbersome and awkward. For those who don't mind that weirdness and want to buy them anyway, the sizing runs short. My other hiking boots are size 9, but I ordered 9.5 in these shoes, and the insole that works in my other size 9's was a little too long to fit in the 9.5.
Bought these for my 12 day trip around Iceland's ring road and thr golden circle. They withstood rain, snow, water, dirt, and everything in between. All of this while my feet felt warm and comfortable. Not once my feet hurt, and I walked and hiked a lot. Will definitely recommend. Just remember to size up, I usually am 8-8.5 and bought the size 9s whichi fit just right.
Was looking forward to these hiking boots and I loved the style and color. I ordered my size, but when I put one on, I immediately realized there was not enough toe room. They are being returned.
I wore these for the first time today on a day trip to the mountains to play in the snow. I wore them the entire day and they were so comfortable. No pain points at all which is uncommon when you were a shoe for the first time. I wore them with wool socks and my feet were warm but not hot and stayed dry. They kept the cold wet snow out. I'm so impressed by this shoe that I couldn't wait to come home so I could write this review. Purchased half a size larger than my usual size.
Love these HOKA hikers. Great in the beach, dirt and some root/rock. Not for granite hikes. Comfy and secure. Stayed dry on rain!
Purchased 1 week ago. Collected my order in store and left the box without trying as assumed a size 5 (usual size 4.5) would be roomy enough for thick socks. Tried on back home, very small, toes rub the ends without socks and now can’t return, will have to sell. Suggest go 1-2 sizes bigger than your usual size.
These are comfortable hiking boots, nice and light. I have tried on many different brands and ultimately chose these, but they do fit small in length, so plan to size up by at least a half size. Lots of room in the toe box, and they are a nice mid boot, so they feel good in the ankle.
