Amazing shoes!

These are the lightest most comfortable shoes. It’s almost as if I’m walking on pillows. No aches or pains anywhere after having worn them all day. An amazing purchase!

Excellent all around shoe. I typically run 40-60 miles per week on all terrain from smooth road to knobby technical trails. I find the shoes comfortable, responsive, and supportive in all environments. I'm a 6 foot 170 pound runner and find these are perfect for me at all times. I'm currently on my 4th pair of Mafate Speed 2s and typically get ~600 miles out of a pair before retiring them for good. They hold up well and are comfortable with sweat and rain (where I live it rains 300 days per year), and have performed well in races from marathons to 100 miler trail races. Further they look great and I get tons of compliments on the shoes-which is kind of a novel experience. In summary I love these shoes. Good.

Wanted the vibram sole. In a wet rainy area and want the non-slip sole. Have tried multiple Hokas but I think the simple white/grey is why settled for this shoe. The heel is a little loose in this shoe which gives the unstable feeling at times as others have mentioned.

Hoka needs help!
28 March 2021

As other reviewers mentioned the bottom eyelets for the laces dig into the top of your feet. Even wearing thick "Darn Tough" socks the problem does not go away. This shoe will take much longer to break in than I was hoping. Switching back to my previous brand - Altra. Hoka needs help!

I really like this pair
2 November 2020

these are really great shoes. But it did take me a fue wears to break them in. It kinda suprised me. At times I get to tight or loose on how I tie. But all of this is personal. I would not say it negative about the shoes. Been using them for trial hiking. I would definitely buy again. Took about 10 to 15 miles of wear before I felt like they broke in

Pretty Good So Far
11 June 2020

Hit 200 miles in these today and figured I'd give my 2 cents. First pair of HOKAs. I mostly run 10ks on rough, rocky, rooty, technical trails in the Northeast USA as my everyday runs, with longer (25k+) weekend runs on similar terrain. PROS: Super comfortable. I have a wide-ish forefoot and these were fine for me, although I did size up .5 US from my regular casual shoes. Cushioning is awesome over rough terrain while still being sensitive enough so you can feel what's going on underfoot. Lugs are super grippy on every surface I've encountered. Upper is light yet the material is very tough and breathable. CONS: As others have mentioned, there can be a lace-bite issue. Mine occurred on my inside left foot, lower two / three eyelets. Upper is light yet the material is very tough and breathable. CONS: As others have mentioned, there can be a lace-bite issue. Mine occurred on my inside left foot, lower two / three eyelets. The eyelets would dig into the top of my foot causing a pretty annoying pain, especially on descents. I initially thought it was a design flaw in the tongue being too narrow. Upon further investigation it turned out the tongue was actually folded over itself and creased in that fashion. Once i discovered this I began to be deliberate about unfolding the tongue as I put my foot in the shoe. This has completely fixed the problem but it is slightly annoying to have to be so careful about putting the shoe on. A minor thing, really. Durability-wise, the toe rubber on the left shoe is just starting to delaminate. Otherwise everything has held up just fine. Hoping to get at least another 200 out of them.Nice to find a pair of shoes I like that do what they are supposed to do and fit me in the process. Cool colors to choose from too. Will definitely be picking up a second pair.

Quality isn't a name these sneakers can use
29 November 2023

I'm greatly disappointed with these sneakers everything about them is lacking. The color is more hideous and person, they run half a size small, the toe cap is so weak that if I wear these for 300 miles. My big toe will be sticking out the top with its own sunroof. They feel so cheap. The dimension on the sole is extremely shallow. Doesn't compare to old once one mafate that i have. I do not recommend buying these. I just recieved mine and they're getting returned immediately.

Super for ultra running & great for knee!
20 October 2019

I been Hokka fun since 2015. Mafata been good to me.Solid stability, great cushioning and super light weight! Just only need when buying shoes, check size well some reason year by year size little bit changing. First year I was 8.5 next year 7.5 and 8.0....? So I always order two size so I can check it out before decided to keep one.

The only shoe that could replace my Speedgoats
14 January 2019

I've run in Hokas starting back with the Rapa Nui trail shoes. When the Speedgoats came out I swore I'd never run in another shoe, and then the Goat 2 came out. I loved that shoe and have logged thousands of miles of trail time in the Goats but when I tried on the Mafate Speed 2, I was sold. I still run in my Goats occasionally but my go to for any tech trail or ultra marathon is the MS 2. Great traction, very stable and feels light for the kind of shoe it is. If I had any complaint it would be that it doesn't clean itself of mud so well with the aggressive lug pattern but that's a trade off I'm willing to accept.

Work or Play
16 April 2021

I'm a 40 year old construction worker that was not getting the support I needed from any of the work boots or shoes I've tried. These Hoka's are life changing for people that are on their feet 10 hours or more a day on concrete floors. I will definitely be sticking with Hoka going forward for my work shoes. BTW they are equally great on the trail.
