Best sandal/shoes on the market

I have owned a pair for over a year now. I have neuropathy in both feet. Wearing these sandals all day and taking long walks over 15k steps, my feet very rarely sufferFrom flare ups or impacts of neuropathy. They are worth every penny. I highly recommend these sandals. They look bulky, but when you put them on and begin walking, you will understand and appreciate the quality of these sandals. The craftsmanship of these sandals are still holding up with no issues after a year of rigorous wear.

Have been having problems with plantar fasciitis that is causing heel pain. These are great, right out of the box! Fitting is spot on for my feet, which are wide. I wear these around the house as a sort of supportive slipper that can also be worn out as well. I hope these hold up since they are not cheap. I wish they would make these in more colors and with leather.Previously, had purchased these in men's quite a while back and they felt sloppy on my feet. Glad they have them in women and in half sizes. Will be purchasing more in different colors as they become available.

Compared different colors and women's vs all-gender

I most often wear size 8.5/39. I ordered 3 pairs of Hopara- the women's in black 8.5; the all-gender in the green with orange stripe and the light blue/pink/orange - both in M7/W8. All 3 fit very similarly. I prefer the colors of the all-gender and would have kept both pairs, except the green pair was very rough where the heel strap hit under my left ankle bone. The blue/pink/orange pair did not have this issue at all! So I kept the blue/pink/orange and will probably try the green ones again in the future in hopes that that seam is better in the next pair. The overall appearance is not at all sleek haha!! But they feel super stable, more of the feeling of shoes than sandals. I like that they have a true lugged sole so they should be good on gravel, trails, etc. I ... MoreI most often wear size 8.5/39. I will pass on this item and will not recommend
6 June 2024

I have been using Hoka for a very long times and this is the first time i am having issue with this item and the services Hoka is providing.. Bought this last year and wore like15 times in the last couple of month but both the back straps started to rip. The shoe is almost in brand new condition as I only got to wear last month and it started to rip in both the back straps(heel). I went back and forth with the customer care and they told me this is out of warranty as the manufacturing date is 2022. I would have share the rip pics but review page doesn't allow to upload pics. It feels and look like leather but it is not.. I started to doubt the quality of Hoka. Very disappointing how this issue is being handle.thanksPratz

My 2nd pair of Hoparas
30 July 2024

I am a saltwater guide and these are my go-to guide shoes. They fit great, always comfortable, and I could walk for miles in them just as easily as in my Bondi 8s(which I also adore). They fit similarly to the Bondi 8s if you have tried those before. My Hoparas have traveled with me to climb mountains in South Africa, traverse hiking trails and beaches in the Caribbean, and many more adventurous places. They have stood the test of wear and time and hardly show any signs of wear-and-tear. I am so excited to have a new pair in a new color. I will buy again, please don't stop making this style, Hoka. I love you.

Not what I expected from Hoka
6 July 2024

I have a closet full of Hoka shoes for running, racing, trails and hiking. Hoka is my go to shoe company so when my daily wear sandals needed to be replaced I tried some Hopara sandals.Initially they were more difficult to put on but that improved slightly after a few days. They certainly were more comfortable and light weight. Traction was better than my previous sandals and the fit was as expected. But sadly that is where the positives ended. The uppers were not comfortable for all day use and I found myself taking them off and opting for my Hoka recovery slides. The reason I returned them was because of poor durability of the sole. After just two weeks of daily wear they were already showing signs of wear in the heel. Not what I have come to expect from Hoka.

Slippery on rocks!
26 August 2024

These sandals are very comfortable and have great support. I have used the in and out of lakes and they are great for that purpose, however I originally bought these for canoe trips in the BWCA and quickly noticed they did not have the traction previous pairs of similar style sandals I have worn there. Not a great feeling when you are carrying a canoe over your head and unsure whether your foot is going to grip on the next stone you step on or not.Recommendation for HOKA - give these a Vibram bottom in order to give the sense of security desired for hiking (or in my case, portaging a canoe).

Two pairs failed - rear strap/pull-on loop need redesign
12 July 2024

I found this comfortable enough after they were broken-in but my first pair was returned when both rear straps and pull-on loops failed after less than 6 months of moderate wear. The replacement pair had even less wear on them when the left one also failed at the rear strap, but in a completely different way and even though - after noting the weakness in the first pair - I was extremely careful taking them on and off. Seems like a redesign is required, so I'm going to try the Hopara 2 and see if they are more bomb-proof. Too bad HOKA doesn't allow photos in these reviews so I could show the failure modes...

Very Cushy
15 March 2024

This is probably the most comfortable shoe Thai have purchased lately. I am a senior and require a soft sole with plenty of arch support. This shoe satisfies these two requirements very adequately. However, because they are made completely of plastic materials, they do not breathe. This is mitigated substantially by the fact that they are essentially sandals, I still experience foot fatigue due to heat. Unfortunately, almost all shoes today are made from plastic without the cushion comfort of these shoes. I'm happy with these for now but still looking for a breathable version.

Very disappointed
2 August 2024

I saw the Hopara in April 2023 and found the color I wanted at a sporting goods store in NY! I ordered to wear specifically for an 11 day trip to Israel in May and a 14 day trip to Tenerife in June. I wore continually over the summer and fall! LOVED the shoes! Brought out again in May 2024 and the back strap broke on both shoes! I expected WAY more from Hoka than just a year's wear! Upon closer inspection, bad design and poor quality of material! So very sad this shoe didn't last. Can't really recommend and of course they broke AFTER the one year warranty date!
