Works OK for a while 2-5yrs. Have had several soleniods burn out and not been able to buy replacements at a reasonable price. Spare parts cost more than a complete valve assembly.

It's at least 17 years a go that I bought a number of these for the garden - handling pumped water from a tank approx. 50 psi (or whatever) this is the first to fail - some may give it less than 5 - but I think during the period it has lasted better than I!

These valves have lasted at least 2 years, my bore clogs at least one valves per winter through lack of use. I have 8 Irritrol valves and 2 of these, so far these have survived the rubbish iron bore fowling. I like the flow control valves, the bore also suffers from water table drop, and these help reduce surge when the table gets low.Da

These valves are well made and very low cost. This is a pilot operated diaphragm valve that uses the pressure across the valve to open and close the diaphragm.A tip for non-engineers: Be sure to wind the cross-shaped handle down almost closed for automatic use or you may not have enough pressure drop across the fully open valve for it to close automatically. If this happens, the valve will open OK but you might have to get wet to shut it off manually like I did!I wound the handle fully down then back up a full turn and it works a treat.
these products seem to function well for the most part and represent good value for money however can be annoying to clean out should the water quality take a turn for the worse
