The Ultrasonic Humidifier by HoMedics features a large easy-to-remove 5. 3L tank. This vaporizer gets up to 65 hours of runtime without needing a refill. It was designed with auto shut-off protection that will power down your unit when the water level gets too low. The mist output is cool, giving your air a refreshing feel. The unit provides micro-fine mist, which is easily absorbed into the air. It features a clean mist anti-microbial technology that helps prevent the of mould and mildew on the surface of the tank. In turn, this ensures the mist being vaporized into your air is free of these allergens. This machine functions as a 2-in-1 humidifier and air purifier. It also prevents the build up of “white dust” caused by hard water that can settle on your floor, appliances, and furniture. This cool-misting humidifier offers many different features and benefits. It was designed with ultrasonic technology, a built-in night light, auto shut-off protection, and features a super longruntime. Its ultrasonic high-frequency technology converts water into 1-5 million particles that are dispersed into the air. Its automatic shut-off protection ensures your humidifier won’tcontinue running when its water level gets low.

Awesome humidifier

I thought that adding more moisture to the air would help. I chose this humidifier because of the way that it looks - it's a neutral color that won't be a big eyesore in my bedroom - and because of the size. I wanted a large tank that wouldn't have to be filled several times a day. I love it so far. It has helped with my dry nose issue and I'm finding it easier to fall asleep thanks to that. I like that you can choose what setting you want for more or less cool mist. I think it's a great humidifier, well built and nice looking.

As my review title implies, the machine performs adequately and the mist is very fine, thereby not creating any wet surfaces. I use it for my bedroom which is approximately 1800 ft.³, or approximately 180 ft.² (high ceilings). However, the amount of white dust this thing creates is prolific. This product comes with a demineralization pellet that is supposed to eliminate or reduce the minerals contained within hard water, but it fails to do its job to any significant degree. Almost every two days, I must dust and mop the hardwood floors. Now conversely, if one has a water softener, I'm sure that will do wonders. I bought this from Costco abou 3-4 months ago, although it looks slightly different (I couldn't find the exact model). I was super impressed in the beginning and still think it is a good humidifier, although it needs some redesign. First, I noticed that cleaning the unit thoroughly is a pain. You can put water and vinegar at the bottom of the unit and let it sit, as suggested, but the tube the mist comes out of is impossible to clean and orange gunk built up over time. I tried taking the screws apart as I thought the tube can be split in half vertically (it looks that way), but I was unsuccessful. I did not feel comfortable using the unit with the orange smelly build-up - not sure if it is some type of mold - and attached some cut pieces of sponge to a flexible plastic strap, dipped in vinegar and water and attemted to clean the inside of the tube by inserting my sponged strap from the bottom up. It took me a while to get most of the gunk out and it was kind of gross. I suggest that future units are designed such that the tube can be taken apart vertically for easy and thorough cleaning. I hope I did not ruin my unit with this operation today. Another thing that I was excited about but didn't seem to last is the humidistat. The unit started turning on and off every few seconds, so I had to put it on continuous mist - the humidistat gave up pretty soon after purchasing the unit, so that part was kind of pointless. This is probably the 2nd or 3rd review I have written in my life. I think this product has potential but it needs redesign. I like it, but I want to love it.

Okay I've had this humidifier for years and it DOES work well; I did my research before buying it but am coming back to put a note on cleaning this thing. To caveat, no I have not done the "weekly cleaning" that is recommended, and no, I don't empty it out every morning to let the insides dry (does anyone??). So yes, I suppose if I did those things I wouldn't have those problems. The issue is the reservoir is large which is nice because it can last a few days (I only run it at night). However, you CAN'T GET INTO THE TANK TO CLEAN THE THING. It has the one opening on the side and unless you're Gumby you're not going to be able to get an angle in there with a sponge, toothbrush or whatever. All they had to do was make it so you could remove the top for easy access and cleaning. Major design flaw.

Mold

I bought this product for my newborn because of the feature - Clean tank technology helps protect the tank from mold and mildew - after it running on the lowest setting possible for about 3 days it emptied and I went to refill the tank when I noticed a pink mold buildup on all the compartments that create and release the mist into my child’s room. The compartments are extremely difficult to clean as I tried my hardest to get all of the mold off but am unable to do in the impossible to reach places. I am extremely nervous now that my child has been ingesting this mold since he has a rattling congestion in his chest that he didn’t have before (he’s not sick no runny nose ear problems or anything else we saw the dr) and that I’ve been exposed as well and from trying to ... MoreI bought this product for my newborn because of the feature - Clean tank technology helps protect the tank from mold and mildew - after it running on the lowest setting possible for about 3 days it emptied and I went to refill the tank when I noticed a pink mold buildup on all the compartments that create and release the mist into my child’s room. We have forced dry heat and need a humidifier but at this rate I feel it’s been more harmful then helpful. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. For manufacturer please create a product that does what you say and if you can’t at least make your product easy to clean!

We bought this unit worked great for about 2 weeks. It states whisper quiet. It makes a loud annoying whine the rotating knob does not effect the speed. I think it is stuck on full throttle.Apparently in China humidifiers are disposable- buy a 5 L of water run through humidifier then toss away with the empty water bottle.I am scared to run their products in my house the noise the unit is making sounds like a RC plane.I bough a 2nd homedics unit at Costco - also not impressed.I am going to search out a unit made in from areas the manufacture items of quality. These products are not worth 10% of what you pay for them.

So incredibly easy to use and I love the hard water cartridge that comes with it, great idea. Having the multiple settings was fantastic. This product made such a difference for my family and the air in our home, it was very noticeable. After using it for over a week I forgot to fill it for a day or so and my skin starting drying up and needing moisturizer…filled it back up and turned it on and the next day my skin was back to normal during a very dry winter season here. It is incredibly quiet, we couldn’t hear it on at all and I forgot it was even there. So nice not to have to boil water on my stove and really appreciate how well it humidified our home without making the table nor floor below it wet or damp. I am so pleased with this humidifier! I’ve had it a little more than a month and I just love it! It’s so completely silent, even when on high, that I’m grateful it has an auto shut off. It keeps my living room at a constant 33% humidity. I’ve also been using tap water with no problem, no white residue at all. Cleaning is easy, a gentle toothbrush or firm artist paintbrush and a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and water and that’s it. It’s size is also perfect. It’s about the size of a basketball, ( from side to side and up and down, not front to back) so it fits easily on a corner table. I would highly recommend this compact humidifier, especially for people living in an apartment. Between the price and its size, you just can’t beat it!

I bought one of these from my local Lowe's yesterday after shopping for one that met my needs for a long time. This machine worked stunningly right out of the box and was super easy to set up. 20minutes after turning it on things changed. I noticed there was no more vapor coming out. I tried turning the dial down and back up, unplugging the machine, read over instructions again. No luck. Only when I went to move the unit and I lifted the tank off did I hear the base start chugging water from the tank. Turns out I should have read reviews on this one more. I am experiencing the same issue as many other with the base of the unit not properly refilling itself from the storage tank unless it is lifted. I really love this unit, but not working the day I bought it stinks. ... MoreI bought one of these from my local Lowe's yesterday after shopping for one that met my needs for a long time. I am very happy with this Humidifier. I'm looking into getting another. After a full year of use I have nothing negative to report. Cleaning has never been an issue as I use the vinager and water solution ( diluted of course within reason ). Although it's an additional expense the demineralization cartridge dose help alot with the gradual build up of sediment. Just wanted to add that I am using filtered water run through a Berkey water system, maybe that might be a contributing factor with limited issues with this product. Only reason why I gave it a 4 star is because nothing in this world is perfect. If I was to search for a complaint I guess I could say I don't like the stiffness when I push the button for the night light. But seeing as I don't use it much at all, ... MoreI am very happy with this Humidifier. I'm looking into getting another. After a full year of use I have nothing negative to report. Only reason why I gave it a 4 star is because nothing in this world is perfect. If I was to search for a complaint I guess I could say I don't like the stiffness when I push the button for the night light. But seeing as I don't use it much at all, its not worth considering.Excellent product that suites my individual perposeThank you.
