A Good Runner with 2 Carriages & I have just bought the R1283 Hornby Dublo 'The Royal Scot' Train Set & has the ‘Royal Scot’ headboard & the carriages have separate destination boards to fit - There is 4 saying 'The Royal Scot' & 2 saying 'London - Glasgow' & 2 @Royal Scot Head Boards, but it doesn't really say how to fit them on the Loco or Carriages??? 🤔🚂🚂🚂

In the early 1950,two years before I was born my my mother gave my dad (who worked for the LMS as a loco fireman and then driver) some cash to buy himself a new suit. Instead he went into the City of Carlisle and came back with a Hornby train set, the original version of this set featuring The Duchess of Montrose and two coaches for his four sons. Later to become five when I arrived. I still have the set and it still runs! So as soon as Hornby advertised this re-working of a classic, I had to have one.The set arrived in a pleasing replica of the original box including the original beaming youngster playing with his Dublo trains. Well packed and boasting a realistic representation of a 1950s interior. The loco is beautiful with excellent detail and ran well straight ... MoreIn the early 1950,two years before I was born my my mother gave my dad (who worked for the LMS as a loco fireman and then driver) some cash to buy himself a new suit. Well packed and boasting a realistic representation of a 1950s interior. The loco is beautiful with excellent detail and ran well straight out of the box. One annoying element was the fact that the double chimney fell off when I turned the loco upside down to examine the underside. Surely an appropriate quality check should have picked this up on such an expensive set. However the model is beautifully heavy, coaches well detailed and decorated and the separate headboard and destination boards add extra detail. The detail in the cab is superb and the finish on the paintwork and coach lining is excellent. The set contents on the Hornby website suggest that the oval of track is larger than it is. Only one single straight track and a power track are provided rather than the additional two double straights indicated on the diagram of the oval. Also the promised Re-railler is missing. For sentimental reasons this set is a superb addition to my collection and small moans aside I am delighted with it. Hopefully I’ll have years more fun with the duchess!

Mint condition with certificate
Such a Lovely Loco with Lovely Carriages & had fun sticking on the Name Plates or the Destination Boards on the Carriages, pity one of the screws came out of the Coupling Rods & I put it back in twice & fell out again - not sure what to do now???
Box cover shows heavy diecast 3-rail locomotive, but clearly the model is two rail and the train has tension lock Triang style couplings. Such an insult to try to sell Triang/Hornby using the Hornby Dublo trademark design box and imply the standard matches the old Hornby Dublo range of quality models.
How much you don't even get a power supply you can buy a good metal 2 rail loco from most train swapmeet for about £35 depending on condition
awesome locomotive
