Anything but fire wood. Small bag at 20kg makes you think it’s dense hardwood but this is seriously terrible wet stuff. As it’s sold by weight you mostly pay for water. Is this an isolated experience? Read the other reviews. I hope you will be one of the lucky ones that gets a bag that burns.

Last year this wood was around $5 cheaper a bag and the wood was good sized chucks for my wood burner, good quality, dry and burnt for long periods. Last month the price was just under $17 and now this month it's gone up again to $20. Unfortuanly the quality of wood has gone down with the price hike. I have just purchased three bags and opened one to lterally find I have three small bits of wood , some bark and a whole load of very small bits of wood. I shall burn through this bag in a couple of hours where as last year I would get two days from them . The last three bags I purchased were extremely poor quality but I presumed this was a one off even though it now seems that this is the new standard . Very saddned by all this and shall be seeking my wood elsewhere ... MoreLast year this wood was around $5 cheaper a bag and the wood was good sized chucks for my wood burner, good quality, dry and burnt for long periods. This firewood smells so bad.I have a "smokeless firepit" and this firewood lets out a very bad smell, similar to when you put it on a normal firepit. Your clothes will smell and my neighbour complained about the burnt smell as well. This brand of Hotshot kindling is of better quality timber. It does not produce this smell like this hardwood one does. What type of timber is this ? its so bad.I dont recommend this firewood at all.

Wonderfull burning quality of the wood, so dry and solid. I used to get my timber from a local timber merchant, no more. I have a very small single skin wood burner. Bunnings wood size perfect. What I did not expect to get was what I paid for Hot Shots 20kg Firewood, as a matter of fact it was cheaper or about the same as the wood merchant. No extra cost to have it placed in the back of my ute @ pick up/collect.
Purchased 4 bags from Bunnings Glenorchy Tas in June 2022. Splits were a mixture of useful sizes. I guess it is a type of Ironbark - very dense and heavy. So you can't simply put it on top of kindling and expect it to light. The wood I got was dry. You need a good bed of glowing coals and the air vent fully open to get it to ignite. Perfect for wood heaters such as the Kent Country Classic (see photo). I assume that there will be variability in batches bought at different times of the season and in different states of Oz. For a $1 / kg bagged - recommended.
Bought 2 bags of wood, like tools at bunning dont work, the wood wont burn. Soon as i opened the bag i could smell the fire retardent in the wood. Further research finds bunnings or the supplier soaks wood in retardent to make it burn "slower" and last longer. I can can burn a fresh felled tree, but I'll be buggered if i can get bunnings wood to burn. Cant even get a refund, burnt the receipt which happened to burn quite well. Shame on bunnings, they know this is going on and choose to ignore it or maybe encourage it.... Absolutely disgusting, shame shame shame.
The wood isn’t that bad. However Through experience those within the reviews are right. In the past this wood has been effected by water damage, as far as premium is concerned it’s below. However if you can get it nice & dry it does its purpose. Occasionally you may get red hard wood if you are lucky. For the price it’s below average. But if your chief cook doesn’t want to spend some $$ on descent stuff, this maybe your solution.
I've bought a few bags of these and they have been a hit and miss. One bag was damp, another the wood was covered in soil. There was a lot of smoke and extra firestarters used on these. Other times, clean, well seasoned wood. So check each bag carefully for moisture and dirt.
I purchased this for a family get together. All sitting around the fire pit.Purchased from the Seven Hills store in NSW. Its so wet it would not light. I chopped it in 1/2. In photo the large dark patches are water logged wood. The light bits on the end were the only dry bits. The kindling was the same.
Bought sack of hotspots firewood on Nov. 3 2022. It was still with high humidity/wet and had a moldy smell. Pieces were very unevenly split (size and weight). One block barely fits the oven (triangle piece 35 cm bottom height 25 length around 45). Smokes a lot and has a hard time keepin the flames alive.
