This Hoya UV(C) filter is a top quality product, Most photographers keep one attached to the front of their camera lenses, to protect the actual front glass element of the lens from mechanical damage, contamination and fingermarks. In addition, it improves the colours of photographs taken outdoors, particularly on sunny days, by reducing the glare caused by Ultra-Violet light.

Decent multi coated UV filter

Use it as front element protector. Being multi coated mean it keeps the lens image quality intact. I trust only three brands for filters one of which is Hoya. This one meets al my expectations. In my usage I did not find the filter introducing any flare or reduce contrast or colour shifts. Recommended.

Unfortunately, there seems to be no customer service that can assist me in this matter. Therefore, I am unsure about the customer service of other brands, but I believe that at least their filters may offer a higher quality.

EXCELLENT UV FILTER FOR THE PRICE
17 January 2016

This is one of the cheapest but still very good UV filter WITH Multi-coating layer. It is thin/low profile, excellent for wide angles lenses. It also has threads on BOTH sides so you can attach another filter or a lens cap without issues. Many other filters (some cheaper, some similar price) do not have multi-coating layer. And THAT makes a BIG difference!! Especially if you shoot at night with light spots inside the frame. Even at daytime, multicoating is always better. I use LOT of this filter in my lenses, every on corresponding size. It's a GREAT protection to avoid scratches and dust on the lens, and UV filter. And of course, as any filter, a MUST-HAVE if you have a Weather-sealed lens, to complete the sealing, as manufacturers tell (Otherwise the lens is not ... MoreThis is one of the cheapest but still very good UV filter WITH Multi-coating layer. Otherwise it stays on every lens I own for protection. Please do NOT confuse with similar filter UV(0) (NOT UV(C)) which does NOT have multi-coating layer (and it's thicker) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. PS: After testing many, I always use Tamron Snap-on Lens Caps (highly recommended). So far the best price-quality. They fit very tight and secure on all lens and filters.

High quality and great value
12 July 2024

I've used Hoya filters for years as an affordable alternative to Nikon filters for my film and digital cameras. This 67mm UV product measures up in all regards, and does seem to have a lower profile than other filters I've owned. I'm very pleased with it.

Hoya filter review

The 52mm Hoya UV filter I ordered from B&H photo is working “just fine.” It’s doing everything I expected. And it’spriced just right. Delivery was on time and the wholeprocess of ordering, paying with credit card and excellent packaging makes me a very satisfied customer.

Like it wasn't there.
19 September 2015

I bought this filter for that extra level of protection against scratches, moisture and the occasional drop of the lens. The second reason is to replace the filter that cracked and splintered after my camera hit the floor from a tripod (60 from the floor) and crashed onto the floor lens first. When I saw my camera going in slow motion, yes, like in the movies towards the floor, my heart stopped all activity, and prompted me to close my eyes for a moment. I was hesitant to pick it up, because I didn't want to assess the damage.Ultimately, I got over the horrifying first moments of the tragedy and picked up my camera. I was hesitant to pick it up, because I didn't want to assess the damage.Ultimately, I got over the horrifying first moments of the tragedy and picked up my camera. At first, i checked the body for cracks or stressed areas, which were none. Second, I checked the lens and I saw the UV filter in place dented from the fall with the glass cracked into thousands of splintering pieces. It was so bad, I couldn't tell whether it was just the filter that broke or the filter and the front element. After carefully removing the filter, I was relieved to find only the filter broke and the lens came out unscathed. I bought that filter for around $, and the repairs of just the front element could have cost upwards of $ or more - so I am glad I had the UV filter to take the hit.for those glass half empty individuals, Yes, I do take care of my equipment. And Yes, I use to say, that wont happen to me; but I am glad the other voice in my head say, get the UV filter, just in case. So, now I dont have a lens that does not have a UV filter on. I rather have sand, dirt, mud, water or pavement hit the filter than my front element. Now, this filter: It's Hoya, It feels solid and it sits as low as a front lens cap. It isn't the thinnest around, but from my previous mentioned experience, I rather have that extra material between the floor and my lenses. It comes with an extra coating of HMC Hoya Multi-coated or Hoya Magic to improve light transmission. In other words, less light reflection from the moon shots or light creeping from the sides but nothing is perfect. How does this stack up to other filters? Well, I like the price and I get HMC for the pricing or a regular UV filter.Remember, this is the type of product, you DONT want showing on your shots, but you do want to have in case of an accident. Do keep in mind, it is just a filter so, with increase force from a drop, your front element with have damage. This is a good deterrent for minimal damage, but it doesn't make your lens drop proof nor bullet proof. Use a Lens Cap whenever possible.

Protects my Lens
13 January 2024

I've bought this to protect my Lens. I used several Hoya lens filters and never had a problem with them. The filter is made of glass, and it is thin as well. I will continue to use them in the future. Buy them from a reputable seller like B&H because there are counterfeits out there. Good luck with it if you buy one.

Used switched for new
18 March 2021

I order two of these Hoya multicoated filter. I think these filters are great value and use them to protect my lenses. The one star is for the B&H service, not the filter, which I would give five.Unfortunately, B&H sent two filters, but one was clearly used. The used filter had the package seal removed and was packaged slightly differently than how the manufacturer packages it--I also had a new filter to check this. The filter itself had been (badly) cleaned and showed cleaning marks. The filter ring was worn showing the metal under the finish. B&H did send me a new filter replacement, however, the customer service person did not show any surprise that I received a used product sold as new. I was also refunded the price.I would recommend checking packaging seal ... MoreI order two of these Hoya multicoated filter. I think these filters are great value and use them to protect my lenses. Where's the flare?
11 October 2022

I've been buying stacks of Tiffen filters as lens protectors. But I've noticed that they flare and reduce the contrast a bit. I've been investing in better glass, and it became noticable the problems. So I bought a stack of these and decommissioned the Tiffens. Maybe the Tiffens could be repurposed to coasters? Anyway these are only a little more expensive and don't seem to degrade the images. They seem well made. I'm pleased.Hope this helps.
