This laptop is high quality both in hardware and software. The Linux based software for online usage is far easier to use than any Microsoft product and far more secure. Be forewarned that the software for local data storage is pathetically poor. You cannot use this laptop for such things as a local check register or to keep your brokerage accounts locally. You can buy application programs for Chromebook that are advertised to do such record keeping in the cloud. I have no opinion on the quality of the cloud applications as I never buy them. I use this Chromebook as a portable internet access and it is fantastic, far better than any of its predecessors. I keep all of my personal and financial records on a desktop computer.

I just replaced a touch screen chromebook with this one. Its nice for internet use but I wouldn't buy one of these for anything more than taking care of things on the internet. I do have Office 365 and it works fine with Office but if you are going to write more than a couple of pages, it puts a real strain on these and, after about 10 pages, I have to switch to a full powered computer because the lag is maddening. I'm sure this is perfect for kids that need to write 500 words for school. It only runs apps and the apps available are limited but its also super cheap as computers go so I wasn't expecting anything to complex. If you get the touch screen, the drawing apps are decent for a young person who has their eye on a Cintique. This hp works great and its a little bigger, thicker and heavier than my last one but I really like it. Its very portable and when its time to replace it, since everything is stored in the cloud, everything transfers right over when you sign into your account, so there's really very little set up. That makes it great for storing art projects or other projects that you want to be able to access from anywhere. I'm very happy with this purchase and will replace it without hesitation when it goes out in a couple of years.

Had this Chromebook for less than a year having only used it over the past 3 months and it will not turn on. Bottom line - 3 months old and it has failed miserably.Secondly, trying to contact HP Support is like pulling teeth. They do everything possible to make getting in contact with them concerning problems with THEIR products a nightmare if not impossible.Thirdly, I knew the these Chromebooks were not up to the same standards as a non chrome laptop in terms of speed, quality etc but this was appallingly slow when it did decide to start. Bottom line here is - DON'T waste your money on a Chromebook, buy a non chrome OS laptop and use an emulator instead - at least that might last longer than 3 months!

Her videos were choppy, but hardfor me to say if that’s the computer, the internet or zooms fault. Not even half way into her first trimester and the computer completely died. Won’t even charge. the computer gave her no indication of a problem, was working fine for homework at night and then wouldn’t power up the next morning. She’s handled it very carefully and really was only using it for school (so not during summer months). So for it to only last a year and a half stinks. (Apple iTunes rather does the same thing).I will make it work for University purposes and perhaps purchase another fully functioning laptop later
