Great basic laptop

For some reason Harvey Norman deleted all the useful reviews for this and you're left looking at a handful of sub-par sentences. I'm here to fix that.I travel for work and needed a small, basic laptop to take with me. The sort of thing you'd put on an airplane tray table, a podium or lecturn or even just your lap. Something with good battery life, a decent keyboard and enough oomph to get through the basics like email, net browsing, powerpoints and the occasional video or two. This was the answer. Its a very standard, basic, plastic-framed laptop with a good full-size keyboard (minus the numpad) and quite good screen with minimal bezels/bordering. Memory and storage are 'enough' and the connectivity with WiFi, bluetooth, USB and 3.5mm jacks is again quite good. ...Ā MoreFor some reason Harvey Norman deleted all the useful reviews for this and you're left looking at a handful of sub-par sentences. Memory and storage are 'enough' and the connectivity with WiFi, bluetooth, USB and 3.5mm jacks is again quite good. The Intel Pentium N6000 processor is silent and runs all basic tasks just fine.Windows 11 is preloaded and runs well after you set it up and the updates get finished once you connect to the internet. You can optimise it (see online for tips) to boost performance and minimise both processor and memory usage on this basic system. The only downside of this system is the 4GB of RAM. This is really very minimal for modern systems - you will not want to run more than a single task or two at once. I have modified mine by replacing the stock 4GB unit with an 8GB stick of RAM and it runs much better with Windows and the system in general being a bit snappier and more responsive. If you can stretch the budget to buy something with 8GB of RAM I'd strongly suggest it, otherwise you can tweak system settings (search 'debloat Windows 11') and still achieve good results. The N6000 processor is quite capable, and runs along quite well with four cores/threads and a boost ceiling of 3.30GHz. I find mine runs along between 1.5 and 2.5GHz most of the time. The graphics is handled by Intel's UHD suite with 32 execution units. In English this means that with more memory available (8GB instead of the stock 4GB) you will see the little machine capable of modern Indie games as well as older releases like the original Halo, Max Payne, Mafia and Fallout 3. More modern games will require some heavy sacrifices in order to run acceptably, usually "Low" settings across the board and a reduced resolution or render scale. On the topic of the screen it is clean and sharp and has enough brightness to use indoors in well lit areas, however does struggle in full outdoor sunlight as many devices tend to. For its intended use it is more than acceptable.Cheers, hope this was helpful!
