I've had too many Black Friday, sub-$200 Chromebooks that let me down - bad keyboards (missed keystrokes), bad trackpads (missed clicks), fuzzy screens (those darn TN screens). This is the first budget Chromebook I want to keep. Here's why: (1) the HP 11a-na0040nr has an IPS screen, so the characters are crisper (still 720HD, but at lease not blurry at the edges like TN screens); (2) touch screen, handy at times (3) great keyboard, my accuracy is good now; (4) good (not quite "great") trackpad, never annoys me; (3) the ultra great battery life we expect from a Chromebook running on a cell phone processor (the zippy Mediateck 8183, roughly comparable to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630). Google is committed to ARM chips and to 32bit until at least June of 2028, the date automatic updates expire on this current model. Google is very deep into ARM chips not only through ChromeOS, but also through Android for phones, unlike MSFT which is just recently dipping its toes into ARM architecture with its Surface Pro X. BTW this will run a ton of tabs, unlike Windows machines with just 4gb - for some reason, Chrome browser on Chromebooks is leaner, and less of a battery abuserr, than Chrome on Windows laptops and Mac laptops.I deleted Google Play for security reasons. Running Android apps seems appealing until you realize the ultra-security provided by Chromebooks disappears once you add Android apps. For non-critical uses, Android is fine and yest this will run them. I use my Chromebook - this Chromebook - for banking etc and Google Docs. That''s where it excels. For the full computer experience, you'll need to invest in a Macbook Air or Surface Go Laptop. For the best Netflix, it's got to be an iPad.Here's the negative: the screen is not really bright like top end Surface and Apple devices. It's for work, not Netflix or YouTube. It's ok for minor YouTube stuff, but it's only 67% or so color accurate (50% NTSC/67% szrGB) and just 200 nits of brightness. vs. more than 100% sRGB and 400 nits and up on Surface and the current M1 Macbook Air. It's fine for typing next to a bright window, but don't push it harder than that.

Competent and Lightweight offering from HP which is good in media consumption and web browsing. Good chiclet keypad and sizable touchpad for the given form factor. Touchscreen IPS panel (thou pricey) gives a better viewing angle and color representation. Striking color options also give this Chromebook a fashion appeal. Open using a single hinge which can reach about 120 degree. Chromebook used 2 1mm rubber spots situated on the edge of top half to prevent the Chromebook from slipping. However, these 2 spots can leave a mark on soft surface so be careful when using on sofa.

We had to take it to my mum's to connect it to different internet source, as instructed! That's not ideal really, you want to be able to plug in and go, not faff about driving 20 miles! That's something that needs looking at. We are on sky my mum is on BT, so that's something you might want to look into before you buy.

Great Chromebook.
15 May 2022

This is a stout Chromebook. Just what I needed. We travel a lot and my last Chromebook developed a short in it because the Bottom of the unit was flimsy. This HP Chromebook fits what I needed. This unit works great. No problems finding my wifi. Easy to use. The keyboard is really good. The keys have large letters. Strong hinge. Would be nice to have one more USB-C slot. I have not encountered any problems with this Chromebook. We even hooked it up to our TV to watch movies. The movies never stop to buffer. Plus it gets updates till June, 2028.

This is my third. chromebook in 5 years all 3 different brands. I like this one in every way but Im having some issues I never had with my previous c/books. Firstly this one is not great with multiple tabs, as far as cpu performance. It will freeze up a fair bit esp with the more intensive apps like streaming etc. My toshiba c/b from 2015 did not give me those issues. Also the c/b will shutdown sometimes randomly after just closing the lid for no reason. Also the mousepad is a pain and overly sensitive, but thats a minor thing. Screen, is decent. Sound is a little quiet on this one but ok.

Perfect little Chrome book for web use and mobility.

I have a Cyberpower Ultratech laptop with a heating and battery issue which causes it to only hold a max charge of around 30%. It's also quite large and on the heavier side, so I decided to buy an inexpensive Chrome book for basic web browsing and blogging. This Hp 11a is the perfect size and weight, making it easy to watch videos and work on stuff on my lap while in bed. It's also easy to bring it to different rooms in my house without worrying about carrying a bulky ac adapter with it. Despite being labeled as used, it looks like new and has no signs of previous use. Obviously you get what you pay for, but for $60 the plastic build is decent and the screen is acceptable enough for work. The keyboard is not back lit but I can live with it. The only somewhat negative thing I have to say is that the adapter that came with it book wasn't a USB-C, which is what the Hp 11a uses. Luckily I have a Nintendo Switch and I found that the Switch adapter works perfectly with the chrome book, so I'm not too bothered by it.

Reliable Little Chromebook :)

This is an easy to use straight forward 11.6in Chromebook. Some school districts have assigned these to students (G4 11 inch they are called) for school and now home use. As far as I know, this is the same one they have had going on 3 years. Previously, it was used for limited time in class and nothing else. In the past year, it has been used for several Zoom meetings a day, use of the Schoology app, Google Meets and simple web browsing. It does have the anti-glare screen, think more of a Kindle screen, less of a tablet. As an adult, I don't find the keyboard to be small but a person with larger hands possibly would. The camera isn't of amazing quality, if you're needing to take a photo of written work. However, in Zoom meets it seems perfectly fine. In regards to another review, no, it's not tiny it's 11.6 inches when you measure it (bottom left corner to top right) and it's in the item's description. This is not a 15 or 17 inch huge laptop that is more like a desktop size. If you generally prefer a larger screen to see well, like on your phone, text sizes, or your tv than you may want to go up the HP 14" version, which is approximately $30-$40 higher (currently.) Perhaps this size is more comfortable, less overwhelming to some. If you can catch it on sale, it would seem like a solid starter laptop.

So, I just got 2 of these for my kids, soon to be k and 2nd grades. One returned to preschool in January, while the other stayed virtual for his entire 1st grade year, and this is the exact same computer our district loaned out to the kids. Its a very basic machine, this is not a TRUE laptop. This is meant for online use, you can download aps but not many as they will take up whatever storage you have left. Anyway, I have a feeling education is going to be much more technology based than we have ever imagined going forward, plus I wanted to continue the use of splashlearn, RazKids, epic, etc during the summer, and I dont want grubby fingers all over my computer. $179 I thought was more than fair, plus they are happy to have their own blue chrome books. There are several other well known and reliable brands available thru Walmart at a lesser cost if youre curious, but like I said, this is exactly what our school gave us, and my kids liked them, so we stayed the same. Just logged onto their googles, synced w our printer and away we went! I have already passed on the product info to a couple friends I know one 100% bought one for her daughter. I am not playing around this fall and def dont wanna be without if they are needed.

Two: the price was terrific. I was having some problems at first it would act laggy and lock up had to power key reboot many times and even reset once and power washed once.
