A very reliable brand and processor Laptop

I like this little 11.6 laptop, it is fun to use, has an easy to use keyboard but takes a little time to get use to the keyboard key placement, it took me about two days to get use to the keyboard seeing that I have never owned a laptop, and is very different than my Tablet keyboard which had keys a little closer together.I dislike the fact that this HP laptop does get a little too hot and you must use it on a flat surface, one could get a little burned by this laptop, so far it has performed well, no problems of overheating or having any problems. It will run on a fully charged battery about fifteen hours as long as you don't use any video media. This HP laptop has a very nice thick good quality charging cord and charger but is not very long, and will charge this little laptop in about two and half hours fully charged, this is really fast and better than I expected. You can not go wrong for the low price and is really built for a students use, but I bought this Laptop to replace my little smaller 11.1 tablet, wanted a larger screen and newer technology. This HP feels like a tablet it is light easy to carry around and small enough to put in a small computer bag or case, I love the feel and look of this case, looks like linen and feel like linen, is easy to grip and does not show finger prints or dirt, like that this HP laptop was affordable and that it is a HP brand. I have owned HP brand computers for many years and they are always very reliable so I expect this one to be the same.Keyboard is very comfortable to type on keys are smooth and easy and quick to respond to the easy touch. You can also turn off the onscreen keyboard if you desire.I gave this little laptop four stars as I do not know at this time how long this laptop will last and how long it will be reliable, I will update it at a later date.I also chose this laptop for the AMD processor as I have become to trust this brand of processor and love for many years they are truly reliable.

We already have our Android and Apple phones, and iPad Pros, and Windows Desktop and laptops. So, why did I buy this HP 11.6" Chromebook? Frankly, I was curious about Chrome OS vs Windows and Apple operating systems. And for $98 on Rollback, I didn't have much to lose if it turned out to be just a gimmick or a toy. Not knowing anything about Chrome OS, I needed to expand my knowledge. First, it arrived very quickly and unharmed. Following advise from Youtubers, I plugged it in before booting up. If you don't have a Google account (Gmail), you'll need to set one up, but I already had one. There was a new learning curve for the Chrome OS operation and set-up. But anyone with a little computer savvy will breeze through that and personalize the settings. This model is entry level in specs, but actually performs surprisingly well. It boots up quickly and isn't slowed down by a plethora of "bloatware". The screen is actually better than I expected, as is true of the battery life (10 hours) and processing speed. The dual speakers are quite good too! Chrome OS is a more simplified operating system. And any apps you may already enjoy from Google Play are downloadable. I'm still learning some settings and navigation, but this HP 11.6" Chromebook is quite user friendly. It will do well for any student/educator at school or home. It doesn't have the specs for heavy gaming, but handles lightweight games very well, as well as streaming YouTube, Netflix and Amazon Prime movies. I don't regret purchasing this Chromebook, and the price was dirt cheap. It looks good, performs well, and is a keeper. I also understand the Google will continue its support and update of this Chromebook into 2026 . Not one regret yet. One year HP Warranty and 30 day Walmart return policy. Can't go wrong (I hope)!

Do not buy!! HP says this is a bad model
29 December 2022

Do not buy this laptop, choose a different one!!! I got this for my daughter for Christmas, bought it during Walmart Black Friday deal for a good price. After turning it on, the computer had to do software updates before you could do anything else on it, and would connect to the wifi for the updates. However, halfway through the updates the wifi would disconnect and completely shut off my entire wifi. I tried it on 4 different wifi networks, it did the same for all of them. I called HP support for some advice, they said they are having issues with this particular chromebook model and there’s nothing they can do about it. They said to return it to Walmart for a refund.

Don't buy it - it overheats way too hot
4 August 2022

Within just 1 hour of use, the bottom of this Chromebook got so hot it, I thought it was unsafe to use, so like with any other laptop, I shut the screen. Little did I realize that doing so would melt the screen. Yep, the hot Chromebook was indeed hot, the screen melted and I now have a one inch melted dark blob on the screen where the keyboard of the unit was hot. If this is to be considered a useable Chromebook, HP might want to think about some sort of cooling mechanism. This is not the typical quality I've experienced with HP computers and this Chromebook makes me think less of the HP brand. Then again, I should have guessed that a $97 laptop at Walmart was way too cheap ... but that's why I bought it, to see what a $97 laptop was about. All in all, this laptop has been turned on a total of 1.5 cumulative hours and it is ready to be returned. The box has already been collected from my recycle bin, so a return will not be possible. Perhaps HP will honor a warranty? Bottom line, this HP Chromebook gets too hot to feel safe using. And a melted screen is proof that it gets way too hot to use. I can't imagine how the lithium ion battery will withstand the heat. Wonder how soon there will be a fire? This laptop should be recalled and removed from the market.

Chrome OS might help some but I still have my doubts about the processor in this thing. 2.4GHz max boost is just... slow, at least for modern standards. I'm fairly certain this cpu doesn't support hyperthreading either (I could be wrong... but this is super budget end so odds are you get 2c/2t).Would I recommend this to anybody? If you need some sort of computer now and can't afford any more than this at its sale price of $99... just know what you're getting into. Don't pay any more than that though, you would have a better time taking that extra money and using it as kindling for a bonfire. Or saving it up and buying a better machine that you won't toss in a year or two.I want to disclaim that I haven't used this machine. I do, however, have quite a lot of experience with computer systems of different power levels. Don't take my word as fact, as I am just speculating and have no clue if modern chromeOS is better than it was back in 2013 (I'd hope so... nearly a decade of time for Google to make improvements). Regardless, just my two cents.Hope this helps someone either know what they are buying or convinces you to buy a different machine.

HOT ITEM .. . . literally!
12 October 2022

The underside gets exceptionally hot when in use. I had an Acer Chromebook, which I loved, but it malfunctioned after much use and several years, so am giving this one a try. I like the size, weight but due to the keys all being in black, I cannot see the letter/number/symbols on the keys easily. My Acer was white and easier to navigate. So, except for the difficulty in reading the keys and the OVERHEATING, I guess it is the price that dictates quality (or lack thereof). Mine stays on a cookie cooling wire rack to ensure it does not catch fire. This is a major concern and presents a challenge for storage. I have reached out to customer service but to no avail.

I got my laptop not even a day ago and let me just say ive had nothing but troubles. Im really good at being able to download things off my phone to my laptop and mine is showing nothing at all from my phone. Its showing things from two years ago all you can do with this laptop is email people. And maybe use youtube. Ive been trying to download a vpn that i always use and it absolutely will NOT let me. I cant even pull up my resume on this thing! Im returning this. Absolutely a waste of my time. I bought this for work, until i had enough money to get a nicer one but trust me it will not work for you. In the picture shown is where i was trying to download the vpn and it straight up froze on me. It keeps going out straight black screen. This was never worth 100$.

If your looking for a simple cheap Chromebook just to access drive and online textbooks then this is perfect for you. If your looking to do anything outside of that id recommend getting a different laptop. It operates very slowly for a brand new computer to the point you would think your using a 10 year old laptop. It heats up pretty quickly attempting to do anything even remotely intense like simply watching a YouTube video. Speaking of YouTube it cant apparently get a good enough wifi signal to watch anything at 1080p even if your standing right next to the router and forget about trying to play any games on this thing. All in all, again id only recommend this to other students like me who just need something cheap that can open online textbooks but everyone else ... MoreIf your looking for a simple cheap Chromebook just to access drive and online textbooks then this is perfect for you. The touchpad is easy to get the hang of and l was surprised not to miss a touchscreen which is a good bit more money.Overall l am thoroughly pleased and recommend this highly.
