Although I was pleased that it included a DVD drive, the build quality is very poor and I am not sure how long this will last. The same applies to the power on button. There is no SD card reader but perhaps the most glaring omission is a USB C port. I know there are easy solutions but they would have been nice to have.Mustn't moan -overall a very fast and competent PC at a great price.

A nice, fast PC... with some reservations

Nevertheless, prepared to take the risk, at the same time as ordering the machine, I also ordered (from HP) a further 16 Gb of RAM. After booting up the machine (in its unaltered state) with no problems, I then installed the additional RAM and I now have a very fast compact PC running Windows 11 sitting neatly under my desk above the now - nearly defunct and massive - HP desktop.Plus points: 1. Why, in heaven's name, does HP does not sell this with an alternative for, say, a 2 Tb SSD, to enable those of us with large software libraries (both apps and data) to upgrade without recourse to potentially invalidating HP's warranty. And why does HP consider that anyone purchasing a "consumer" PC would be incapable of upgrading it without trashing it; let's face it, I'm a pensioner with a mere 50+ years' experience with PCs, so I think I know my way around most of them, both ancient and modern!2. Having installed the additional RAM, it was clear that provision had been made to enable the installation of a SATA hard drive. An older, spare one was pressed into service and, while this provides extra, internal storage it raises the noise level of the PC somewhat (but it still runs cool).Despite these caveats, I'm still pleased with the system and look forward to using it for a good few years to come (MS Windows permitting. of course).

An excellent piece of kit

This Desktop is exactly what I wanted. Bonus points for its small size and quiet running. Windows 11 certainly beats the pants off Windows 7 (which I seem to have been using forever). I wasn't overkeen on the keyboard and mouse supplied with the Desktop (I HATE black keyboards). I purchased a white (wired) keyboard and mouse from Dell and find them to be very user-friendly... but then, I'm reviewing the Desktop, not the accessories that come with it. THERE'S ONLY ONE THING THAT SADDENS ME: (on 15 April 2024) I paid £799 and today (9 May 2024) it's going for £649. I still love it though. ;)

At Last I Own a Well Specified and Speedy PC
21 December 2023

I had had my previous HP PC for over 10 years, being trouble free but getting slower. Last year I replaced the hard drive with an SSD which made a great difference to the speed. However, about 1 month ago I got the dreaded blue screen of death and nothing I could do would fix it. It was at this point I decided to go for a new PC. I looked around the market and found this HP PC was a good spec and price and also manufactured by HP, a company I had faith in. So for me it was a no brainer. It took a few days to arrive but after setting it up and getting used to Windows 11, to me it was a revelation. It does everything I want it to and at an amazing speed. My sons blamed my internet for the slowness, but this PC has proven them to be wrong.Needless to say I am well ... MoreI had had my previous HP PC for over 10 years, being trouble free but getting slower. Excellent Slimline i7 CPU
29 May 2024

Good value for price--- an i7 with 1TB SSD and 16GB Memory, quick to install and quiet in operation. It was packaged with a wired keyboard and wired mouse ---would have been even better if HP had given option of buying with a wireless keyboard and wireless mouse inst ead of the wired ones. Bought HP wireless ones as an extra --wired ones on EBay for sale. The suplied wired mouse was very small and flimsy.

Fast, efficient and quiet
9 February 2024

Bought this to replace a similar one, which was over four years old. The new one is splendidly fast and efficient, with much more memory, and I'm delighted with it. It's much, much quieter than its predecessor. A very minor nuisance is that it has no card reader, but I bought an external one to plug in, so that's fine. And there was the usual business of removing the virus checker, as I have a subscription to another one, but that proved simple to do. No problems with Windows 11, which seems to an doubtless ignorant 80 year old to be much the same as Windows 10.

Faulty machine worked only once.
3 October 2024

Switched on and configured for the first time. After shutting down and then powering on the next day, pc would not come on and I was presented with a blank screen. A 25-min session with HP remote support 'fixed it' by doing a firmware update. But the same thing happened when powered down and restarted the next day. Returned for a refund which took nearly 2 weeks. Maybe this was a one-off. I've since bought a HP laptop instead and so far so good.

GOOD VALUE PURCHASE
27 December 2024

I bought this three or four weeks ago, but have only just now got round to installing it. Delivery from HP was very fast, and now I have installed and configured the computer, I find that it is also very fast! I'm fairly new to Windows 11, but found the initial installation process to be fairly intuitive, and although I've had a few teething problems, I'm up and running with the computer, with just some software I need to install. So far the signs are good, hopefully the computer will give a good few years' service!

Good Value

The computer is a good value, serving my needs at a reasonable price. Works well and is quiet. Nice compact size, which I like. It was well packaged and protected for shipping. There were, however, some irritations. First and foremost is that nowhere in the quick start guide is there a support phone number. What if the computer did not fire up? How would I get support without a phone number? Nobody at HP seems to have imagined this scenario. Secondly, when you do chat support, there are the usual language problems and the fact that off-shore chat support people just send you links to user guides or FAQ. They don't actually try to solve your problem because they don't actually understand your problem. The other annoyance is the generic user manual that is not specific to actual model you purchased, so it is filled with sentences that say, this may or may not apply to you, etc. I want a manual where everything in it applies to me. So the computer itself gets an A. The company's support gets an F.

The last good desktop.
10 August 2023

A Desktop with a CD was on my wants list and I was fortunate to buy this as most manufacturers are cutting out CD drives and a second hard drive and a card reader. This model lacks the card reader and d drive so reduced it to 4/5. My old machine was an i5 but the i7 didn't have a noticeable start up as the external hard drives needed time to fire up . The included Windows Home package was only a Microsoft office trial so more expense on top. The positives are easy set up , lots of USB sockets and manageable workflow which would have been 5/5. The new Windows 11 layout was fairly easy to navigate moving from windows 10. Overall a good work horse but needs an external harddrive and card reader.
