The value for the money is impressive! That being said, I picked this up during Black Friday, and got it at a very discounted price. Would I pay full price? Probably not honestly. I would pick up the newer varient for about the same price. The processor is very strong and quick, and the RTX 3050 is good enough for most of my light gaming duty tasks. I installed 32gb of RAM before it was fired up the first time, just for my piece of mind. It was a cheap upgrade. Installing said upgrade was about as difficult as I'd expect, removal of the back cover plate. The screen is crisp, and nice. 144hz. A cooling desk would be recommended. I dont believe in "its designed that way so its good". I was seeing thermal throttling, which is never good for anything.I love the finish of this product, although it is annoying difficult to keep clean. The battery life is atrocious, but thats obvious with any gaming tier laptop (read: with a GPU). The cpu/gpu package consumes so much power that there just isnt enough battery in the world to keep it charged long. If you dont game, and just browse the web and such, youll get a solid 3 - 4 hours out of the battery. All in all, its a pretty good laptop. It has the drawbacks of putting performance in a laptop, which is to be expected. Outside of that, it performs well, the battery lasts a reasonable amount of time if you dont game, and it multitasks like a champion.

This is my personal experience and opinion-- it does not constitute professional advice or knowledge. In general, this is a good laptop if you can purchase it on sale around the $550 mark. For everyday use, such as browsing the web, watching YouTube videos, checking your e-mail, and working within Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. it gets the job done without an issue. Also, if you are coming from an older generation gaming laptop or graphics card series, you will feel the upgrade that this laptop can provide; and I would say it is a worthy upgrade if you can get it around the $550 price mentioned above. On the other hand, if you can manage to bump up to the next laptop price tier you can probably opt for a more solid machine in all ... MoreThis is my personal experience and opinion-- it does not constitute professional advice or knowledge. On the other hand, if you can manage to bump up to the next laptop price tier you can probably opt for a more solid machine in all aspects. Also, if you donât need a laptop, you might be better off purchasing a desktop for the normal $899 price of this laptop, and you would be able to achieve a much higher level of performance to price ratio.Personally, I enjoyed the overall design of the laptop, how silently it ran, and the overall layout of the cooling system, including fan placement. In addition, the sound system was very good for a laptop, as it was crips and sharp, but it lacked on the lows and bass. The screen itself was the major downfall for me. Yes, it was a bit flimsy, but that wasnât my issue. The weird dimness I experienced when using it during normal light conditions was a huge pitfall, and I just couldnât get over not being able to see the screen half the time at full brightness in a lit room. If you plan to use this laptop only in a low-light or dark room, you shouldnât have this issue, only in rooms with medium to high-light did I experience this weird visual dimness. Also, games did not run as I was hoping they would. The 3050 - 6GB VRAM and 8GB RAM showed early signs of bottleneck with most demanding applications, such as Forza Horizon 5 (Laptop/Game Selected Preset â Medium Settings). Lastly, it would be a great challenge to edit videos on the laptop, because of the screen dimness, color ranges seemingly off, and 8 GB RAM.Honestly, if the screen wasnât as dim as it was, I would have probably kept the laptop as I got a good deal on it, as it was on sale for $599. I just couldnât justify keeping it if it wasnât able to run certain games I enjoy on the go with decent quality and with the screen quality being so low, I couldnât justify using it only for office tasks. This laptop would be a perfect entry level machine if it just had a bit more RAM at 16 GB and at least 8 GB VRAM.Bottom line, if you need a laptop, donât mind the screen dimness, and you can purchase this laptop on sale for around the $550 mark it is worth it, specifically as an entry level gaming or general day to day work laptop.

I got the Victus 15 during a best buy menbers pre-black friday sale for about 1/2 off. This laptop is a good gaming computer. It has top of line laptop graphics card, decent CPU. I upgraded my RAM from 8 to 16 GB because 8 just is useless. Also uprgaded the 515gb HD to a 1TB drive. I dont have an issue with having to do the upgrades given the great deal i got on the laptop to begin with and memory is not super expensive and easy to change. Only con i have so far is the terrible battery life. It only lasts about 1 hour, and not even using lots of resources....just web surfing and Discord chats. You definitely need to be near a power outlet if you plan do really use this laptop. Im planning on upgrading the battery and seeing if that helps. Not sure if this current battery life is normal or not. Overall id say this is a good option for those on a budget looking for a laptop you dont plan on using away from power sources. It can run all the latest games with good frames. My daughter runs CAD and other engineering software on it, so it fits its purpose. Again, only real downfall and reason its only 3 stars is the battery life.

I purchased this laptop looking for something to game on and use for school. Overall, the experience was good. I would rather buy it in store because when you buy for pick up online, it sometimes takes too long. That's what happened with me so we ended up going into the store, cancelling the order and buying it again in store. The laptop comes with a charger and a manual/set up guide in the box. The color is nice, although it's prone to fingerprints if you have greasy hands, the speakers are clear, and overall it feels solid other than the screen being slightly wobbly, but that isn't an issue unless you keep moving it around multiple times in one use. The 8 gb of ram and 512 gb ssd can be easily upgraded (mine came with DDR4 3200mhz and a WD PC SN810 PCIe gen 4 ssd, so it's plenty fast enough to multitask and download large files. The GPU temp stays around 65-70 degrees Celsius when playing games on high-max settings. The keyboard is pretty decent also, and has a nice backlight. One thing I noticed is that the screen has more of a gap where it connects to the chassis on the left side than the right side, but after watching Youtube videos on it, it seems like most of these laptops come like that. I would recommend opening it from the center of the screen and not the corners. The colors are a bit washed out when you first get it, but that's pretty easy to fix in the Intel Graphics Control panel. Battery lasts probably three hours with all the settings set to max performance and quality. I got it on sale so I would say I'm pretty satisfied with the purchase, and I would probably not buy it at full price (899.99) because there are better options at that price point, so just keep checking every day for clearance deals or sales.

Paired with an NVIDIA GeForce graphics card, this laptop effortlessly handles demanding games, delivering smooth frame rates and vibrant graphics. The 15.6" Full HD display with a 144Hz refresh rate enhances the visual experience, making every gaming session a treat for the eyes. One of the standout features is the efficient thermal management system. The laptop remains cool even during extended gaming sessions, ensuring optimal performance without any noticeable slowdowns due to overheating. This attention to thermal control is a welcome addition, especially for gamers who enjoy immersive and lengthy gaming sessions. The keyboard is well-designed, offering a comfortable typing experience and responsive keys. The RGB backlighting not only adds a touch of style but also allows for customization to suit individual preferences. While the trackpad is responsive, gamers will likely prefer an external mouse for precision during gaming.Connectivity options are plentiful, with various USB ports, HDMI, and a headphone/microphone combo jack. This versatility makes it easy to connect external devices, gaming peripherals, and additional accessories, catering to the diverse needs of gamers. The audio quality is surprisingly robust for a laptop in this price range. While serious gamers might still opt for headphones, the built-in speakers provide a satisfying audio experience for casual gaming and multimedia consumption. As with many gaming laptops, the battery life is moderate. It's sufficient for everyday tasks and shorter gaming sessions but may require plugging in for more extended gaming marathons. In summary, the HP Victus 15.6" Full HD 144Hz Gaming Laptop with its Intel processor offers an impressive blend of performance and affordability. From its sleek design to its capable hardware, this laptop is a solid choice for budget-conscious gamers who don't want to compromise on gaming experience. If you're in the market for an affordable gaming laptop with reliable performance, the HP Victus with an Intel processor is certainly worth considering.
This laptop performs well, but has a couple flaws.Firstly, with prolonged use, the edges on the bottom of the laptop begin to dig into my wrists and forearm, irritating my skin and leaving faint marks. As well as the trackpad being a bit finnicky. If you put weight onto the laptop's frame on either side of the trackpad (Like if you were to rest your elbow on it), the slight flex in the laptop can actually press down on the touchpad, tricking the computer into thinking you're clicking or dragging, even if using a dedicated mouse. The battery life is also completely incorrect.Granted, I had opened mine to upgrade it's RAM from 1x8GB to 2x16GB, inadvertently drawing more power and making the computer's battery life suffer, but Its advertised lifespan at 10.5 hours ... MoreThis laptop performs well, but has a couple flaws.Firstly, with prolonged use, the edges on the bottom of the laptop begin to dig into my wrists and forearm, irritating my skin and leaving faint marks. As well as the trackpad being a bit finnicky. As the computer is in use, the cooling eventually radiates up and through the keyboard, making my hands a little sweaty from use.I also tried to play a game I enjoyed (Insurgency Sandstorm), and despite getting respectable performance, the fans almost immediately climbed to max speed and the CPU began thermal throttling. But for a less demanding game (Teardown), it runs respectably without getting too loud. The support from HP for this line of laptops seems to be a little lackluster as well. I had tried update some drivers, but my model in particular wasn't listed on their website, and I had a small back and forth with their support trying to identify the exact model I had, eventually leading to them directly emailing me the drivers I was looking for. And, although I'm unsure if this is the computer's fault, when I connect my bluetooth earbuds to it, there seems to be a short half-second or so delay between something happening on the computer, and when I actually get the audible feedback.HOWEVER, I do enjoy using this laptop despite its issues. The charging brick uses a standardized outlet-to-power supply cable, so any computer power cable can work to charge this laptop. I had lost mine a few weeks after purchase, and replaced it with a generic cable from Amazon, which works perfectly. The charging time is great as well. From 1% to 100%, whilst in high performance high brightness use, it takes about an hour.Overall, I don't think I'd recommend this laptop to someone. It doesn't feel totally thought-through, but the issues this laptop does have aren't critical, or makes it unusable.

It's clear that HP has put a lot of thought into the design, making it a laptop you'll be proud to show off.The 15.6" Full HD display with a 144Hz refresh rate is an absolute delight for gaming. The visuals are crisp and vibrant, and the high refresh rate ensures smooth gameplay without any noticeable lag or stuttering. Whether you're immersing yourself in the vast landscapes of open-world games or engaging in fast-paced action, this laptop's display won't disappoint. One of the standout features of the HP Victus is its powerful hardware. Equipped with an Intel Core i5-13420H processor and 8GB of memory, it delivers snappy and responsive performance, allowing you to multitask effortlessly. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 graphics card is an absolute beast, capable of handling graphically demanding games with ease. It ensures a seamless gaming experience with stunning visuals and fluid frame rates. The inclusion of a 512GB SSD provides ample storage space for your games, applications, and multimedia files. The SSD not only ensures fast boot times and quick file transfers but also contributes to the overall responsiveness of the system. The backlit keyboard is a standout feature for me. It not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the laptop but also serves a functional purpose. The keys are well-spaced, providing a comfortable typing experience. The backlighting can be customized to suit your preference, allowing you to game or work in dimly lit environments without any hassle. In terms of connectivity, the HP Victus offers a decent selection of ports, including USB Type-C, USB Type-A, HDMI, and an SD card reader. These ports provide flexibility when it comes to connecting peripherals and external devices, making it a versatile machine for various needs.Battery life is where the HP Victus falls slightly short. While it's not terrible, heavy gaming sessions will drain the battery relatively quickly. It's advisable to keep the laptop plugged in for extended gaming sessions to ensure uninterrupted gameplay. In conclusion, the HP Victus 15.6" Full HD 144Hz Gaming Laptop impresses with its sleek design, sturdy build quality, and powerful hardware. The high-quality display, excellent graphics card, and responsive performance make it a great choice for gamers. The customizable backlit keyboard adds a touch of flair and convenience. Despite its slightly shorter battery life, this laptop delivers an overall outstanding experience for both gaming and general use.If you're in the market for a reliable gaming laptop that doesn't compromise on performance or style, the HP Victus 15.6" Gaming Laptop is definitely worth considering.
It's a solid budget laptop. I snagged this on Black Friday and it's a worth the price. The 3050 is okay for lightweight gaming. On AAA games, it doesn't reach 60fps on low settings. The 144hz IPS display is great for light usage. To do the heavy work, use this laptop plugged in. Without the cord, performance tanks and the battery life is pretty abysmal. It's a solid productivity device for apps such as Office and Photoshop. On the go, I can use Office just fine for a few hours. The RAM is upgradable and I recommend to upgrade to at least 16gb. 8gb just isn't enough, especially with most of it being used for Windows 11.It's my single biggest issue with this laptop is the touchpad. This is the second HP laptop I purchased with the same issue, so I feel it's ... MoreIt's a solid budget laptop. I snagged this on Black Friday and it's a worth the price. This is the second HP laptop I purchased with the same issue, so I feel it's HP-related. For whatever reason, and I can't seem to get it fixed, the touchpad will be stuck in a "press mode"; where whenever I try to drag the mouse, it will ALWAYS touch and drag, making it impossible to use the laptop at all. Use this laptop with a mouse ignores this issue, but I can't use a mouse everywhere I go.
The specs (except the RAM) are pretty strong, and it has performed well and even exceeded my expectations for a laptop. The feel of the keyboard is nice. The rubber feet allow for good ventilation. However, some extra QA is needed because some obvious design issues occur so frequently, it's impossible to ignore. Had I paid full price, it may have warranted a return. However, after a deep holiday discount, I'm willing to overlook these annoyances. Most notably, there is a slight flexibility to the base of the laptop that when used on an uneven surface (such as a lap), moderate flexure physically engages/clicks the touchpad. However, the click is only registered if there is any skin contact with the touchpad at that moment. This is a slight inconvenience, but happens daily.Secondly, the 3.5mm audio jack seems to be a bit off. It plugs in 98% fine, but the last 2% has a little pushback. It only takes a bit of pressure to complete the connection, but it is easily disturbed, and connected devices occasionally come unplugged. The third issue is annoying even for non-users. The fan is noisy when doing basic, non-intensive tasks. This whistle/buzz at low fan speeds can be irritating in an otherwise quiet room, especially in the proximity of others. I understand a loud fan when using CPU/GPU intensive applications, but I wouldn't expect it to be so noticeable when just browsing.Small things I'd prefer: an FN lock key over the omen or calculator keys. Similarly, a toggle light on the num lock key, like the caps lock. Variable brightness keyboard.
