I bought this wireless mouse shortly after getting a brand-new laptop from HP, specifically the 17-cp3047nr. I am not wild about most touchpads, due to their fairly complex one-finger, two-finger, three-finger gymnastics, so this mouse offers what is to me the simplest and most direct control of my laptop’s cursor. Setup was immediate and the WiFi connection is rock solid. ‘Nough said.

Didn't work on my old windows 10 spectre 360, but does on my new one. Strange! Would be nice if it didn't require the receiver to occupy the usb-a port like the apple blue tooth ones, but i like how it fits inside the mouse for storage. Otherwise tracks smoothly even on my rough wooden table.

I bought this HP Z3700 Wireless Optical Mouse to replace another wireless mouse that turned out to have some incompatibility problems with Ubuntu. Plugging this in resolved all the issues and it has subsequently worked with 100% compatibility. Other advantages are: * it feels really well made * only uses a single AA battery * it lasts a huge length of time * it has an on-off switch to save even more power or to stop it from picking up false clicks if it's put in a bag or pocket * the combined battery/dongle cover isn't held in place with a physical catch bit to strong magnets at the rear. This works really well and is a really good way of keeping the lid on whilst making it very easy to remove and no likelihood of breaking. Any cons? Only one that ends up not ... It's a very low mouse. At first this feels odd but once you've used it for a bit it isn't noticeable. It also ends up being an advantage if you are carrying it in a bag or pocket as it sits flusher.

I bought this to match a gold Acer Chromebook (I work from home on some days), and cosmetically I love it. Unfortunately, after a few months of use, I just can't take it any more. It has two critical flaws: 1) the tracking laser is not good. When I move the mouse, I expect the cursor to follow smoothly - this one moves intermittently and jittery, leaving your pointer not quite where you expected it, requiring you to move it again... repeat until it's where it should be. Super annoying. 2) the click buttons are too stiff or something. They are fine for clicking and double clicking - but if you need to hold a button down to highlight text or code, forget it. Even if you are pressing hard, it's as though the button is releasing and re-engaging, leaving your selected ... Even if you are pressing hard, it's as though the button is releasing and re-engaging, leaving your selected text as some sub-portion of what you actually intended to highlight - or worse, if you moved at all off that line of text and the mouse was over something else for a moment. Really bad. It could be the radio causing both sets of issues - who knows? Maybe it's intermittently cutting out signal and re-engaging, causing both the unsmooth motion and button hold issue. It doesn't matter, it's been consistently bad since day one. So, even though it matches my gold chromebook - I need a mouse that works without frustration.
I really wanted to love this mouse - it's slim and compact and a great size for a mobile mouse, it has the option of wireless or bluetooth (I don't like bluetooth mice because they frequently disconnect) with a self-contained dongle, it also advertises great battery life and it's pretty inexpensive. My main problem is the buttons - they feel mushy and soft and sometimes they don't click completely. Occasionally I'll even miss clicks. It just makes the whole experience of using the mouse not very smooth and a little jarring. Furthermore, the sensor seems just mediocre to me and seems to occasionally skip around although this doesn't happen very often. All in all, it's not a bad mouse, it's just not quite what I prefer. I prefer the feel and performance of the surface mouse mobile but my problem with that mouse is it's bluetooth only and has connection issues. I am going to likely end up paying more for a higher-end Logitech mobile mouse.
After trying other wireless mouse which tended to not last long, I opted for the HP mouse to match with my laptop. I find it is quick and very responsive and also well made. Maybe the only thing that is a very slight downer for me, is that the mouse is perhaps too sleek. I have large hands so it maybe a little small, but I might just be nit-picking. Overall it is better quality than other market cheaper brands.
Shape of the mouse is quite problematic. All mouse devices I have used previously were tapered at the top. This one is basically rectangular. I have found it nearly impossible to keep my middle finger out of the way when routinely using the index finger to left click the mouse. As a result, I get many inadvertent and unintended right mouse clicks when attempting to use the device, usually with unwanted and unwelcome results. At first, I thought that I just needed to adjust to the different design, but after several weeks of use, I have come to the conclusion that this isn't going to happen. I have purchased a generic mouse with the familiar tapered design and have relegated the device to a "spare equipment" drawer, to be brought out in the event that my regular use ... I have purchased a generic mouse with the familiar tapered design and have relegated the device to a "spare equipment" drawer, to be brought out in the event that my regular use mouse dies or malfunctions. This product is definitely inferior (in my opinion) to the HP 240 Black Wireless Mouse I used previously before its untimely demise.
Literally one of the worst mice I've every purchased, owned, or used. Who is this designed for? Children? I doubt it would be comfortable even in an eight-year-old's tiny hands.I hate it. I hate it so much and it's literally not worth the effort to return. Just gonna call this a $20 lesson in what not to buy.
So glad this got here so fast. The old mouse was limping along making terrible mistakes. New battery, special cleaning, speaking kindly to it did nothing to fix it. Went to HP and click click click! Wow, that was easy and it got here in a few days and now everything is perfect! (The old, dying mouse could not pick up the letters easily in "Words with Friends" and that was surely driving me crazy.) This model is a little more sleek than the old one and seems easier to manuever. Good job HP. Oh, and it was on sale, also! Double yea!
Don’t waste your money! I’ve had this mouse for three weeks and can’t stand it. The connection glitches repeatedly even though the mouse is only inches away from the dongle; I work with excel spreadsheets a lot and have to retry to select fields over and over because the mouse hangs in the middle of dragging to select multiple fields, columns or rows!
