Absolutely amazing little wheel. It sits right midpoint between entry level and serious hobbyist. The force feedback is excellent, the pedals feel great and there is some fairly straightforward adjustability with the brake pedal. The paddle shifters are really, really great though. Actually better than in some higher end models. You have the option to add a normal gearstick later should you wish to do so and if you find yourself really getting into the hobby it’s very very easy to upgrade individual components as you see fit, rather than having to buy an entire rig.The pc software used for updates and testing everything works, setting some parameters (most if not all of which can be done from the wheel) is a little clunky but it works well enough and you will ... Turns out the noise doesn't actually happen from the paddle "acuating" (aka activating/"clicking"), but rather when it slams back super hard into its resting position. As such, all you need to do is put something behind each paddle to dampen the return impact, & thus sound. I use mechanical keyboard dampener O-rings (1x behind each paddle) but countless others use all sorts of stuff from normal rubber bands to strips of felt to layers of electrical tape.

This is my first racing wheel/pedal setup since i was a kid with a cheap one for ps2. I got the shifter add on to go with it. For the price range compared to a direct deive setup, i love it! I did get this on sale, and i purchased "excellent condition" open box but nothing is wrong with it. Eventually ill upgrade but it suits my current needs perfectly. As others have stated, it can slide pretty easily and can start to tip backwards if you dont have it supported. If you can rig up something behind it or be mindful of where you rest your heels, its not a big issue. If you have a dedicated stand itd be a non issue. Im using mine on my desk over in front of a second monitor so i dont have to regularly move it and i have no problems. I still cant drift well with it but ... On PC: Tested with PCars2, Dirt Rally2, AC and Automobilista2. Great experience and easy to set and go on all games but Automobilista2 which doesn’t see the device properly and had to manually rebind all settings (buttons, wheel, pedals and shifter) but it works. On Playstation: …. trash. Ps4 GT Sport, every time your car slips a bit or drift there is a load really bad noise coming out of the wheel, kind of the belt slipping off, and there was no way to detect the shifter :( On PS5: WRC10 oh God, worst FF ever, it felt the thing was tearing apart itselft, I had to stop after 10 minutes before any real damage. So 2/5 I guess. Suggestion: spend a little more and get the T300RS.
This is a great combo and it works well. The pedals are very smooth and accurate. The wheel is very comfortable and has great force feedback. It definately lacks power compared to the higher priced direct drives so you lose out on some details like feeling the front tires getting heavier or lighter when the grip amount changes during turns. But the details it can give you is definately great for its price. I would recommend this wheel over most non direct drive wheels (especially if you get it on sale). Thougj if you are willing to spend a little bit more(5-600), you can get a entry level direct drive and load cell pedal combo which would out perform this combo by far. I ended up returning this wheel because it showed me a little taste of what i could have if i ... MoreThis is a great combo and it works well. The pedals are very smooth and accurate. I ended up buying the logitech pro(much higher $) wheel/pedals(which i blame on this wheel for how good it felt getting something nicer than the $100 combos) which is what i will stick with for a while.
Some of the key things I look for when sim driving is 1 (realism/immersion) I give it a 9/10 when on max settings it becomes immersive when taking sharp turns in forza Motorsport, or when you wanna relax turn it down a bit and hit the mud holes in snow runner you will feel every dip, bump, rock, and more, or maybe that’s not your style hop in carx or any other game that has drifting and the game has completely different feel overall and keeps bringing you back for more.2 (endurance and quality) I give it a 10/10 I’ve been beating this wheel up on max settings for every game and it’s temp reader never hit above 40 degrees and the hybrid drive never lost feedback or strength after hours of nonstop gameplay.3 (platform availability) I’d give it a 10/10. so far there ... Over all it’s amazing big thank you to thrust master for this awesome wheel.
I originally bought the Logitech G923 and the Logitech Shifter. I used it for about an hour on Forza Horizon 5. The G923 was super loud and raddled a lot. The pedals were also so close together that every time I would do gas or clutch, I would end up hitting the brake. The shifter was ok, but no 7th gear. The wheel was the best, the only nice part. The wrap was very comfortable. So, i returned it and got the Thrustmaster T248. I was concerned about the wheel feel. Once i got it all set up and got into Forza, I could immediately tell a difference. The T248 feels way, way better. Like not even a comparison. The wheel does feel ok. The build quality feels alright. It does have an outer pleather feel, although the kind that will make your hands sweaty. The desk clamp ... The Logitech felt better, but this performs way nicer. It's very smooth, quite, and overall feels amazing. The pedals, WOW what a difference. They are absolutely fantastic. They are spaced and the pedals are all adjustable. The brake is also very adjustable. I have the Thrustmaster Shifter on order. If you're looking for a very nice setup to get you started, or even as an upgrade, I highly recommend the Thrustmaster T248. I was so worried at 1st that i wasn't going to like it. Now I cant stop playing! Amazing!
After fewer than 30 hours of play, my T248 exhibited the random twitching behavior at startup -- stuck in a mode of jerking back and forth. This behavior indicates that the unit cannot not auto-calibrate as it should do every time the unit is powered on. The reason it cannot auto-calibrate is due to motor failure. This is problem is actually quite common with Thrustmaster wheels across all of their models, not just the T248. If you simply Google “thrustmaster calibration problem,” you will find many other complaints in forums and among consumer reviews describing a variation of the same auto-calibration failure behavior, some with short video clips. A disproportionate number of those complaints seem to regard the T300RS/GT. But many complaints regard other models from the bottom to the top of the TM product line, including the high-end T-GT II.If this, or any problem, occurs within the warranty period of 1-yr (US), Thrustmaster will duly replace/repair the unit. Outside the warranty period, they will offer to have it repaired by their authorized servicer for a flat rate of $70 plus a return shipping fee of $30, not to mention the cost of sending it to their repair center. I will also note that the only way to contact Thrustmaster to handle such cases is through the technical support page on their website. Their phone line is impossible to reach -- open only two hours per day, just four days per week.I did discover a way to calibrate my wheel by hand so that it would be recognized by my console and PC, but since the motor is dead, the wheel only functions as a steering device with no force-feedback (FFB) effects whatsoever other than random weak attempts of the motor to engage the drive system.Bottom line: Thrustmaster’s flawed belt or hybrid drive design will eventually suffer a motor failure, the only question is whether it will happen before or after the warranty expires. As a footnote, although I only used this T248 fewer than 30 hours, it was out of warranty. It was a wheel I had set up on a secondary rig and used infrequently. The wheel on my primary rig is a Fanatec ClubSport DD. Thrustmaster doesn’t even begin to compare to the superior direct-drive design of Fanatac in terms of performance and reliability.
started playing American Truck Simulator, which is kinda hard to play with just keyboard. this set was on sale so I picked it up. it made the game so much better I started playing Euro Truck Simulator 2 as well, and even gave a racing game a try. it is my first steering wheel controller, but I believe it's a good one. installation is just plugging everything in, and each game has it's own setup so once you get all the buttons set up your way it's really easy to use. the only "problem" I could mention is more of my own situation than a problem with the wheel itself. my computer desk has a sliding tray under it for the keyboard, and it can interfere with the lever used for tightening the mount to the desk.
