I give the Cosmos a solid 4 stars because I compare it to the regular VIVE which I also own. The setup and feel of the headset when on is extremely smooth, the cameras that allow you to see-through the headset and using without any base stations is great improvements. I've played everything now, all the demo and full releases and I even used the guides to install oclulas games but the very best bit has been playing bridge crew and elite dangerous with two players. A few quite tips from experience are the tracking does not like natural light so close the curtains, and headsets need to be straight on for clear vision without blur, so tighten those straps or better yet have someone do the straps for your while you hold the headset front into position.

I have had this headset for 5 months and i like it but there are many problems that i've had with it.The headphones attached are not awful to position, the video quality needs improvement, the headset is prone to overheating with extended use.The screen had dead pixels appear after 2 months of me owning this so aware of that risk and the hand trackers started to lose tracking after 5 months. Before this, it was a good headset that i enjoyed using but i would recommend potentially looking for other alternatives.

I have had this VR headset for 2 weeks now, and I have been having more problems with it than I have enjoyed it. It continues to freeze and lag, and often gets very, very hot. It doesn't seem to sit on your face as good as it should either, if you hold it with your hands hard against your face you'll get a much better viewing experience, but the head-strap alone doesn't hold it where it's meant to be. This headset connects to your computer, so as expected you'd need to have high specs. The PC I've been using it on has the highest specs currently on the market, so I didn't expect to have any issues. I'm overall not happy with the product, and wish I could get a refund........

My first attempt into the VR world - I bought a heap of games that were the best of the best, got ready and when I got it I was so excited when I unpacked it.Followed the instructions and put it on, and I will admit the setup for this was wonderful, quick and effortless that pretty much anyone can follow the instructions and get it up and running within 30mins.However, the first thing I got when I put on the headset, and booted up the application(s) was an extremely blurry picture that within 10mins started to give me headaches.I followed a number of guides on YouTube and websites, managed to improve the viewing experience a little, but the blurriness was there and within 30mins the headaches would easily come back.We are not talking about a little blurry ... MoreMy first attempt into the VR world - I bought a heap of games that were the best of the best, got ready and when I got it I was so excited when I unpacked it.Followed the instructions and put it on, and I will admit the setup for this was wonderful, quick and effortless that pretty much anyone can follow the instructions and get it up and running within 30mins.However, the first thing I got when I put on the headset, and booted up the application(s) was an extremely blurry picture that within 10mins started to give me headaches.I followed a number of guides on YouTube and websites, managed to improve the viewing experience a little, but the blurriness was there and within 30mins the headaches would easily come back.We are not talking about a little blurry here either, we are talking like you need glasses type blurry where if this is how you were living your life you would be off to see someone about it pretty quickly. So, after finally doing some hunting for the specific issues, it works out a lot of the "positive" reviews just seem to miss out a big flaw in this setup (and the elite). The sweet spot (the areas of "best" viewing) is almost none existent in the Cosmos. The main reason for this is due to the lens, and also the flip top, which keeps the view port further away from your face. You can, in fact, prove this some by pushing against the Cosmos so that it is closer to your face, and the graphic improves big time. You can also remove the face padding, and again the proof is there that the design of the Cosmos is a big flaw.To the extent that I have requested Return because it isn't an enjoyable experience at all. The game play is poor because of extremely low visual clarity.I am sad, not only was this my leap into finally getting into VR, finally able to explorer what everyone was raving about, but it also means I have bought a heap of games which I can't refund. So, I wouldn't recommend this headset for anyone who likes to be able to see non-blurry pictures.
Not comfortable. Head band does not keep it in place. Earphones will not stay in place. Have to readjust them 25 times every time you try to play Beatsaber. Sweet spot too small. Very blurry any time you move your eyes. Now I am stuck with a $900 "upgrade" to my Oculus that has so many flaws I don't even like to bother with it to play anything VR. Vive Cosmos Elite killed my interest in VR. Should have just ordered an Index and waited.
Overall it's a great option for a VR headset. The only complaint I have is that the sweet spot is fairly small meaning that if you look away from the center of the field of vision there is a decent amount of blur. If you do the lens swap mod it almost completely fixes the issue while limiting field of view slightly. If you go with the cosmos, definitely look into the lens mod.
Not as good as the index but still a very good headset. Opted for this one since index is rarely in-stock places I can buy it at. Many hours of gaming and would have to recommend this or index over any other lower priced headsets on the market. Plus occulus and Facebook are not great.Hard to keep this headset in the sweet spot but working at adjusting this. (may add velcro straps to hold the headset down more as I don't need the flip up feature)Vr is great and has a log ways to go but is very playable and cannot wait to buy Half Life Alyx. Only thing I do not like is the controllers are so large.. These will be replaced with index controllers next fall.
DO NOT BUY. I've been trying to troubleshoot this device since I purchased it. First it was skipped frames and constant freezing. Now the thing won't turn on at all. After having many, many conversations with HTC Vive tech support, nothing has ever seemed to work right for long. I've replaced hardware, checked connections, gotten new wires, reinstalled software numerous times, all for what is now a paper weight.
Cons: -Headset itself is way too pricey, that's HTC's fault though. -The headset has a flip-up feature. Very convenient, but it makes the screen blurry as it doesn't flip down all the way. Without some tape, that is. -90Hz refresh rate. Would expect at least 120 for something the same price as an index. Pros: -Easy to take apart (to add accessories) -Compatible with 1.0 and 2.0 base stations. -High resolution.
It’s a fun toy, but for the cost the ergonomics and image quality should be better. It is not tied to facebook and doesn't require an account, there are no ads and the tracking works very well in a 12x12 room.Zero complaints about function, and both my Nvidia 2070 and laptop 1070 can drive the unit with ease.Cost vs available content coupled with display resolution makes this a very overpriced toy.
