Your favourite filter in a bottle is back (and it’s better than ever). Huda Beauty’s #FauxFilter Luminous Matte Foundation has all the credentials you fell for the first time, but now with a fragrance-free formula, 24-hour wear and a matte (but not flat!) finish.Providing full, flexible coverage (there’s no risk of creasing or caking), the ‘true filter’ lends a smooth, real-skin effect as it blurs the appearance of pores and conceals anything you may wish to conceal – from breakouts to broken capillaries, this base means serious business with its innovative, matte-yet-luminous texture that cuts shine without compromising your natural glow (“Hello, lit-from-within!”). And, because of the long-wearing, non-drying, non-comedogenic formula, this won’t clog your pores and feels virtually weightless – and it won’t smudge or transfer, whatever the day (or the weather) throws at you. Waterproof, sweat-proof, humidity-proof, party-proof, pool-proof and mask-proof, this was made to withstand your demands and it comes in a spectrum of shades to suit every complexion.

I am struggling with this new formula. I have used a sponge and a brush. The sponge worked better. My issue with this foundation is that it’s thick and looks cakey but doesn’t have the coverage to back it up. Also, powder is extremely finicky over it. It can look terrible and patchy with powder but I feel as though it needs to be set a bit. The benefits of this formula is that it is very very waterproof. I am on a medication that can give me flushing which is like a profuse cold sweat and this really repelled the moisture. I could visibly see the sweat dripping and the foundation really stayed in it’s place. I just wish I could get the foundation to melt into the skin more and not react so poorly with other products. Been trying out the @hudabeauty faux filter foundation for a couple weeks and I have some thoughts. I got colour matched at a @bootsuk store, the sales assistant was really helpful seeing what would suit me best, I put it on and walked around, did the rest of my shopping before deciding on the shade 320 Tres Leches. I’m NC40 in Mac last time I checked, between Stromboli Barcelona in Nars and Cashew in Esteè Lauder double wear. I ended up buying it online because the offers they have online they don’t have in store on boots. The shade match is pretty good, looks a bit light at first but settles to it’s true tone when it dries, it doesn’t oxidise and get darker as time goes on. This foundation is a new formula and does t have that fragrance people complained about when Huda first released it (which also put me off because I was afraid of breaking out). The formula is matte and non-comedogenic which are both important for my oily acne prone skin. It does dry down fast so you have to move quick. I wouldn’t use this on dry skin because it’s dry it will cling to flaky skin, dry patches and pores so a pore filling primer is useful as well as exfoliating and proper skin prep. The first time I used it I used a brush to apply and it looked really nice and flawless when I first applied it, it looked amazing in pictures, but started to get oily, break down and separate after a couple hours around my nose, it was transferring and coming off every time I touched it but using a little translucent powder on a beauty blender did the trick. The next time I used it I actually applied it but by bit with my fingers and building it up as needed. I think this worked better because it looked much more flawless and airbrushed and lasted a lot longer, I did need to tap around my nose and between my brows lightly but it looked amazing and didn’t separate or break down as much. I think the trick with this is less is more, start in small amounts and build if needed for the best finish. This is a really nice full coverage matte foundation and I’d definitely recommend it for special occasions but you have to be careful if you have dry skin and must prep your skin well beforehand.

Before I forget a primer hasn’t truly been needed (for my normal to Combo skin) which is good thing as I seem to always forget.

Budge proof, full coverage, and non-drying!
6 September 2021

I just bought my fourth bottle so its probably time to write a review!--With a good primer and set lightly, this foundation DOES NOT BUDGE. It's lasted flawlessly through my 14 hour work days, through a full day wearing a mask, through humid summers in Asia, through a wet water park day, and through a sad movie during which I cried a lot. When it comes wear away, it does so very naturally so I don't have to worry that I'm looking crusty or patchy by the end of the night.--This is my everyday foundation which seems heavy but I actually find the coverage to be adjustable. I only use like 1/4 a pump for my whole face which sheers it out a lot and makes it more natural. On full glam nights, I'll use like 1/2 a pump for more coverage.--I have dry skin and I don't ... MoreI just bought my fourth bottle so its probably time to write a review!--With a good primer and set lightly, this foundation DOES NOT BUDGE. On full glam nights, I'll use like 1/2 a pump for more coverage.--I have dry skin and I don't find this to accentuate dry patches or dry me out. By the end of the day, I even see a flattering light glow coming through. (Though I do moisturize a ton in my skincare routine!)--There is a notable fragrance at first but I don't find it lingers. I don't have sensitive skin though so I can't comment on if the fragrance is irritating or not.--I love the shade range. I've never found a shade as perfect as Angel Food for my fair but warm toned skin.I've tried so many full coverage mid-to-high end foundations but this one is my favorite and I haven't felt the need to try another one ever since I bought my first bottle of FauxFilter maybe 3 years ago. I get a lot of compliments on my skin <3My routine: Serum, moisturizer, sunscreen, smashbox photofinish primer, fauxfilter foundation, hourglass setting powder, and urban decay all nighter!

Age spots disappeared for sure and compared to my bare other hand the difference was astounding- again not in a good way.The coverage from a tiny pump of product was so thick and Heavy it looked like a trauma make up. As I bent my hand back to reveal my natural creases they were emphasised by the product, a bit like tights gathering round your ankles,It’s certainly Matt but I saw no luminous effect just a heavy caked appearance I would not be happy to wear on my face.I’m 52 by the way so I do have age spots on my face but I’d much rather they be lessened than completely camouflaged.During the experiment I brushed my hand against my black jeans incidentally and what a mess it left on my jeans.I used first a water wipe to clean it off, no go, it didn’t budge, I then used a sponge with soapy water to clean the residue from jeans, nope it didn’t budge. So into the washing machine - hoping !As for my hand, no go with the wipes, no go with regular hand wash, this is industrial strength stuff.I’m of the mind that this is marketed at the youth who are yet to appreciate their natural glowing skin and love the sort of flawless almost plastic looking appearance, think heavily filtered photos.I do love to try new brands and I was sold on the description in the marketing, the packaging and the price point but I’m going to return to one of the long-standing brands that better understand mature skin. This product is not for me at all.I suspect it works better on younger, plumper, slightly oilier skin and for those who like to completely cover any freckle all the way to those who may indeed have scars burns or other skin trauma. It has a place for sure and in fairness it does state “full coverage”It’s certainly that but with my skin already advancing in years I felt it added another 5-10 years to my appearance.

Full coverage, long lasting, I got the shade latte for winter. ! I just swatched butter pecan in neutral and it's okay for summer!Downsides... Needs an spf15! It's 2023 everyone wears SPF! Why is there nothing in this? The colour shades could be broadened in the medium section! Not everyone is either golden, pink or neutral some like me are olive and it's hard to find the right undertone. Latte and putter pecan are the closest match. The Beige undertones in the medium section were too pink. Neutral was my only option.Lastly it's long lasting but can by drying hence why I prefer the stick foundation it's creamy! I can even re apply by spf50 onto without looking a mess.Overall decent foundation.

I have mostly been using tinted SPF bb/cc creams plus powder foundation on top of that. My skin is 50 years old, noticeable pores, areas of hyperpigmentation, fine lines, oily T zone, dry patches on cheeks, some visible red capillaries, so NOT FLAWLESS!! Powders of all kinds tend to settle in lines and actually make me look older, and when skin starts to get oily again, the powders separate and wipe off.I got samples of 230N Macaroon and 240N Toasted Coconut to try. I applied after using a scrub, a slightly tacky serum and a touch of facial oil. This foundation doesn't spread super easily so started with small amounts and worked it over my entire face. Took some real rubbing, but it did blend. I used more small amounts over hyperpigmented areas. The final result is ... MoreI have mostly been using tinted SPF bb/cc creams plus powder foundation on top of that. The final result is much more even looking skin. The formula is slightly tacky, which I actually like. Many matte formulas have too much silicone which looks good initially, but separates quickly. This doesn't feel silicone-heavy. After about 5 hours after some oil returned, it still looks great, minimal settling in lines, and minimal separation. I did top it with setting powder (ELF) and gently blotted with single ply toilet paper (the best for blotting IMHO) and it still looks good! Minimal difference to me between 230N and 240N so will probably end up with 230N since the other is out of stock. I think the key is to start with very small amounts and build over areas that need more coverage. It's work, but I love the result.

I'm SHOCKED
3 November 2022

I am not usually a foundation person. I will always say that. I have tried EVERYTHING. Foundations that say they're for sensitive skin, bareminerals, ones that claim to be non-comedegenic, all of that, no matter what, after a few hours of wear my skin breaks out.For some reason, HUDA doesn't do that. Not only that, this is the only brand that has ever gotten my shade right, I can't find my shade anywhere. This is mine. This foundation doesn't really have a strong smell to me, I know before it had a strong scent, since the reformulation it's not bad.The wear is fine, it is long lasting and if you set it well , it lasts well. It will crease a bit, that's natural, but it's nothing horrible. I am really happy with it. I love the way it looks on my skin, it photographs ... MoreI am not usually a foundation person. I've gotten compliments on my skin at events thanks to this foundation.IT doesn't feel cakey or heavy with the right primer, I have been using Milk Makeup Hydroprimer and Urban Decay Setting Spray and that really helped keep it in place.

Not Good
14 March 2023

The formula was so thick it felt like I was rubbing cement on my face. Very thick, heavy, didn't smell good on my face, later my skin broke out really bad. I did like how full coverage it was, but that's about it. Then I had to pay $20 to return the bottle of foundation that didn't even match my skin. The return situation in itself was terrible. There's all these stipulations, you've got to give any and all "free samples" back unopened that came w/your purchase, or else you don't get a refund. You can't do an exchange either. So make sure to read the return instructions. I was disappointed it did not match my skin even though I did the color match quiz on the website. I even went to a local Sephora to see what my shade was and her formulas just seems too yellow for ... MoreThe formula was so thick it felt like I was rubbing cement on my face. I even went to a local Sephora to see what my shade was and her formulas just seems too yellow for someone as fair skinned as me. I had high hopes. Maybe I would like the setting powder or concealer? But the foundation wasn't it for me.

This is literally the worst foundation I have tried
10 September 2022

This is absolute trash. I’m so upset because I heard such good things and I was so excited to try it. I used it once with the beauty blender I usually use, and it was so blotchy and awful and just would not blend, and the more I tried the more it just I’d around on my face leaving patches of THICK full coverage and batches of just, nothing but a greasy smear.I then bought the recommended brush for it, and tried again. Same thing. I have tried 3 different types of primer. Same result every time. Greasy smeared areas and splotches that look like paint. I’ve never been angrier or more disappointed about a product in my life. $42 for this garbage.
