It has a small footprint, which works for me, and I like being able to charge devices. The sd ports, high-speed usb and hdmi are handy. I use them more often then I thought I would. There's an audio port, so I can use my favorite headphones again when I'm out and about. So, if you're looking for a small dock that can do some work without breaking the bank, I found this to be a great choice.

When purchasing a MacBook, this is a must have purchase! I have never had any issues transporting information from my MacBook to USB drives. Not only is this tool reliable, it also has multiple USB ports to simultaneously save information to two different USB drives at the same time. As a professional who uses my computer daily, this tool helps save time by not having to unplug and insert multiple USB drives. It also has a head phone port to be able to privately listen or talk to people on your computer. I use this tool daily for the past two years, and have never had any issues.

The product is very good, but is only made for a Mac and the 3.5 mm support post does not fit a Windows machine that I was buying at the time. The salesperson should have known but I take responsibility for not looking at the details. I was concerned that using it without the support post would create a torque that could damage the USB-C port. Returned for a different adapter. Best Buy did it just right on that.

I picked up this unassuming little device with the sole expectation of using the HDMI port (and accompanying conversion hardware) to expand my viewing platform to two screens while traveling by conscripting the obligatory hotel room TV, which are ALMOST universally flat screen & HDMI capable these days, into my arsenal. This worked as expected which has been a huge win for me as I only carry a 11.4 inch ChromeBook with me on the road; if it doesn't fit in my standard sized, uber-optimized backpack it doesn't go with me. That leaves little room for creature comforts like secondary display devices of any useful dimension.I soon realized that what I had purchased was no simple HDMI adapter (although it IS very much that)... That leaves little room for creature comforts like secondary display devices of any useful dimension.I soon realized that what I had purchased was no simple HDMI adapter (although it IS very much that)... This device is the key to hardware expansion and general system-pimping capability when our devices and lifestyles demand an increasingly sleek, portable, and ultimately minimalist approach. My personal choice in portable computing provides me with exactly 3 orifices for input/output consideration:**A single USB-C port which is primarily intended for power supply but also performs as one would expect a USB port to.**A standard USB Port (Again, all the usual included advantages which are admittedly plentiful)**A standard, solo SD Card Port. That's it. If you demand any other IO options you'll have to solder it to the motherboard directly and I have yet to locate a seam for which to gain access to the innards of this laptop incase I were to ever be desperate enough to go full Frankenstein and start welding components on.Oh Yea! There IS a standard 3.5mm Headphone Jack.. So my device officially beats out the human body for number of useful holes but not by much. The HyperDrive 7-Port boasts the following options for pumping your stuff into or out of your devices (Step back ladies... this thing came prepared to take it all):- 3 USB ports: 2 Standard 3.1 (gen 1) pushing 5 Gb/s transfer ratewith power pass through included on both and a singleThunderbolt USB-C port @ 60W for pass through power deliveryand 6 Gb/s data transfer capacity.- A Single HDMI port pumping 1080p @ 60 Hz all the way up thru 4k@ 30Hz-SD and Micro SD Card readers UHS-1 with 104MB/s transfer rate(Yea.... almost obsolete in comparison with the transfer rate onthose USB ports but the SD Card still has a place in our heartsand more importantly in our devices as the last type survivingthe removable storage media wars. If you have any operatingsystem back-up volumes or photo/music/movie collections onCD, DVD, 3.5" Floppy or even Reel-To-Reel Magnetic Tape youwould be smart to transfer them to SD Card or USB ThumbDrives; not only for all the benefits of solid-state digital storagebut also in consideration of the disappearance of the bulky I/Ohardware associated with our beloved but ageing storagemethods of yesterday.- 3.5mm Headphone Jack - Essentially a passthrough as the unit canconnect with male connections of both the USB-C AND 3.5mmJack when side-by-side. In many configurations the slenderHyperDrive can cover up your devices headphone jack whenconnected to the required USB-C port so this is a nice, simpleaddition PLUS it adds a second point of contact to keep theHyperDrive even MORE securely anchored to your device.Even with 2 of the 7 available ports being essentially copies of existing ports from your device it is obvious how many options are still afforded to you with the HyperDrive. Display upgrade or expansion is just what inspired me to grab this game changer. (many of our modern devices offer display settings allowing the user to not only mirror the native display to another screen but also incorporate the additional pixels into a seamless-transition and infinitely large desktop only limited by your ability to find and carry these sometimes monstrous items.) I had typecast my travel-friendly chromebook to a role playing nothing more than a storage lacking, not-even-worth-trying-to-enjoy-a-movie-on, internet machine. Adding the HyperDrive graduates my device to a starring roll in almost ANY scenario by simply opening up my hardware profile to accept or dish out information in a way that was literally just not possible with it's barebones I MEAN ummm, PORTABLE factory configuration. The only problematic consideration when utilizing this device is keeping out of trouble because any component you can get access to in your hotel room, parents house, convention center, casino lobby... WHEREVER you find yourself existing during your travels, can be integrated into making your device as capable as you find useful.
This worst necessary computer accessory. This thing flops around and disconnects repeatedly during use. Its truly garbage and causes a lot of frustration when I am trying to get work done. I have to use an external hard drive for storage and the hyperdrive is constantly disconnecting/reconnecting while I am trying to save or move files. I lose a significant amount of time with this because of it disconnecting often due to loose connections. That tiny little metal piece is how the port connects, that black piece in the photo looks like it stabilizes it but it doesn't do anything with my macbook pro. It is this little component that is making me leave Apple products until they bring back quality. I purchased this for my 2020 MacBook Air with M1 chip. What attracted me to this hub in particular was the design. I almost looks like it could be an Apple designed product. When I'm at my desk, i have 3 things plugged into it; power supply, a USB powered Scarlett Solo and a 27inch Acer Monitor. After maybe 30 minutes of use, this thing got really hot, almost scarily so. Thats a concern, especially with the MacBook Air, which doesn't have active cooling. I don't know if it's because I'm running 2 somewhat intensive items, as well as powering the device, but the amount of heat this little device generated is unacceptable. I've used a few hubs with my MacBooks and I think I'll stick with the corded ones so if they do need to heat up a little bit, they do so while not ... MoreI purchased this for my 2020 MacBook Air with M1 chip. It really bothers me when companies put out products that force us to spend lots of extra money on products that should basically come free with the new product. That’s how I felt when I bought the new Mac 16” laptop that has absolutely no USB ports of any kind. This product allowed me the freedom of choosing my own preferred mouse product. There’s a snag in the design because I was unable to put the bottom portion of my laptop cover on and use this product at the same time. This might be a major problem for Teens and tweens who tend to be careless with their electrical equipment. Would suggest something that is flexible and protrudes out instead. So buyer beware. Other than that It’s small, lightweight, compact and easy to use. I’m a stickler on quality over ... MoreIt really bothers me when companies put out products that force us to spend lots of extra money on products that should basically come free with the new product. The picture shows a pin for the headphone jack but mine does not have one and is not supposed to because it's for an iPad. One could probably use it on devices with a headphone jack. I was concerned without a stabilizer it would wobble a lot but surprisingly it does not. The other version I had (and returned) stopped charging after a month but this one has lasted-- so far.
This hub is really is small and potentially functional. But all the weight is hold by the single usc c connection. Also in my experience. Devices like keyboard and mouse after an hour started to get slow and weird. Like the mouse in a slow vnc connection and keyboard delay will get worse. I didn’t tried enough the hdmi capability
This is a handy little device especially if you are transitioning from from the old USB connectors to the new lightning ones. I needed it to connect my printer at one point and also to connect my old memory sticks. One thing I don't like is that the male adaptor can "wiggle" in the port; this could be solved with a faux male adaptor on the other end of the unit that could clip into a faux male port on the computer. A little pricey but I got it on sale which helped!
