HyperX Alloy Origins RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Aqua

I've been using the HyperX Alloy for a few months, and it's just outstanding. The build quality is impressive - the solid, weighty alloy chassis feels premium, as do the key caps and switches. The per-key RGB is the best implementation I've seen - super bright, and capable of some seriously beautiful effects as it illuminates the transparent switch housings. That said, the HyperX software is barebones and really doesn't do the keyboard justice, nor does it do much of anything for that matter. I ended up using SignalRGB, which is free, and gives much more granular and varied options. Just make sure you uninstall the HyperX software first or you may suffer a seizure as it conflicts with Signal and sends the keyboard into a strobing disco nightmare. Bad.

This is my first mechanical keyboard and Id like to say they keyboard is pretty nice. The software is terrible. They randomly flick at times and even the keybinds are dumb. Esc turned into my windows key and I always have to reset my PC. It’s dumb. The LEDs are always glitching too. Although I would love to give a good review, the software is absolutely terrible. It breaks down everyday and I would love to return it. Disappointed. 2 starts because for red switches, they feel good. The sound is pretty good and I like how this keyboard is small enough for my small desk.

Definitely exceeded my expectations

The keyboard.. wow! It was way better than I even thought it would be and I do for sure think it was worth it. The keycaps have very nice sounds to them, and feel very light when pressing them and does not take any effort which can help you type faster in some cases. My only problem with it since I didn't rate it a five star is because of the software. When you have a customization option on your keyboard using the software it says to choose f1, f2, or f3 to assign it as. The assigning doesn't actually work and it takes the f2 and f3 light modes so you're stuck with only one. If you don't care too much about the backlight look, then don't download it so instead you can switch in between the 3 factory modes by keyboard. Overall great!

GREAT TKL | GREAT INVESTMENT

I wanted an upgrade from my red dragon 552 that was also TKL. It was between this keyboard and the razor huntsman tournament edition, and after reading many reviews and watching video reviews on youtube. I decided on this one and couldn't be happier!! PROS: Fully aluminum so its nice and sturdy, keys are quiet (except spacebar), RGB really shines from the switches. CONS: HYPERX NGENUITY software could be better, but it's in beta so we'll see what changes they make in the future. SPACEBAR is very loud, but I installed double keycap dampers and it helped a lot. HyperX makes quality products, and they didn't disappoint with this one!! I hope you enjoy it if you decide to get it because I definitely do!

Great mechanical keyboard to help one enter the world of mechanical keyboards

For years I always wanted a mechanical keyboard with those clacking key noises, but having tested some of them out a few years ago, I ultimately found some of them too loud. This was a while ago, but recently my interest in mech keys were renewed and were satisfied by this HyperX Alloy Origins keyboard. The Aqua switches (it's the company's color code for tactile switches) have a satisfying press and sound that isn't too overwhelmingly loud and obnoxious. And it feels great; I actually changed the keys themselves to the pudding cap ones, which makes the keyboard look really pretty. Unfortunately, the new pudding keys are not labeled with volume+/- or color switch key labels, so using hotkeys take some getting used to, but now it's pretty much second nature to me. HyperX with Aqua Switches is a great mix

The aqua switches feel similar to blue switches which are the switches I prefer. I have another HyperX keyboard that has blue switches that I really enjoy, but blue switches can be quite loud for others around. Aqua switches are tactile, fitting the style I prefer. The numpad is useful for me as there are hotkeys I must utilize for video editing so each user may not need. Aqua switches are a good mix as you get a tactile feel similar blue switches with a lot less noise.

Low Budget Quality RGB Mechanical Keyboard

This is one of the best priced entry mechanical keyboard. The Hyper X red switches feel great when typing (whether if you're using this for gaming or for everyday use), and the RGB colors are amazing. The aluminum body is sturdy and probably the best thing about this keyboard. I've also switched the keycap to the HyperX pudding keycaps in white, so the RGB colors show up more clearly and has a slight pastel-like color through the white keycaps. Love how it looks. I definitely recommend this keyboard if you're looking for a quality keyboard in this price range.

The quality I was looking for

I finally irreparably broke my old Keytronics keyboard, so was looking for a replacement with the same quality that I could afford. This keyboard fits the need. I am a server systems administrator who still dabbles in some light weight programming, so I spend a lot of time on the computer using a keyboard. The keyboard is built on a solid metal base, with no sides covering the key area. The keys simply stick up from the base. I wasn't sure if I'd like that, but it turns out I like it more than the old Keytronic I had. It appears this will be very easy to clean when needed. The keys have an audible click when pressed, and the travel is just about perfect for my habits. I did not want the annoying LED lights, but that was easy to turn off (RTFM). The hot keys, accessed via the additional FN key, integrate perfectly with my Devuan Linux system running XFCE4, which I did not expect. I love the fact the keyboard attaches with a USB-C plug (USB-C to USB-A cable included in package). That means I don't have to worry if my cat or dog decide to chew the cable some day. The only way to improve this would be to add a USB Hub to it, to allow a mouse or thumbdrive to be plugged in, but I don't think anyone does that anymore.

Well built, great key switches, each key light programmable

This keyboard finally satisfied one of my major cravings - the ability to set keyboard light colors for each key switch. I prefer the numbers one color, characters another, and still different for punctuation and control keys. The software was a bit hard to figure out, but I got it eventually. They key switches are great, and the aluminum keyboard body is heavy enough to sustain abuse. Best keyboard out of the half-dozen I've bought over the last 10 years or so.

What's wrong with the keys?

I really like and enjoy this keyboard. HOWEVER, the ESC key became loose within 6 months. Now the 5% key is loose. When i say loose, they now pop off if you tap it enough times. in a row. I'm really not that hard when I type either. The ESC was replaced by HyperX, however, now that I am looking at the 5% key that i replaced from the same pack of keycaps HyperX sent...it's not the original keycaps. 5% now looks slightly crooked.
