$8.00

(263 reviews)

A legendary pairing Cut down entire legions of enemies as Link, Zelda, Midna, and other characters from The Legend of Zelda franchise using over-the-top powerful Dynasty Warriors-style moves. This tour de force through the beloved locales of Hyrule will have players battling some of the fiercest enemies in The Legend of Zelda history. Two players can play local co-op, with one player joining with the Wii U GamePad controller and another with the Wii U Pro Controller or Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers (additional accessories are sold separately). The delicate balance of the Triforce has been disrupted and Hyrule Kingdom is once again being torn apart by a dark power, this time led by Sorceress Cia. Heroic Link carves through a huge onslaught of enemies as he executes flashy moves with combat attacks. This also marks the first time that many other iconic characters from The Legend of Zelda franchise are playable for any length of time, including Princess Zelda, Impa, and Midna. Protect and reclaim recognisable landmarks from multiple games in The Legend of Zelda series, including such classic areas like Hyrule Field and the Palace of Twilight. Push back armies of classic enemies from The Legend of Zelda, as well as powerful enemies making their debuts in Hyrule Warriors. Advance the story to unlock new playable characters, each with unique moves and weapon types. Collect Rupees and other useful items to upgrade weapons and craft badges, which players can use to bolster each warrior's abilities. Two warriors are better than one: Battle armies with a friend using local co-op mode, with one person playing on the TV and the other on the GamePad, providing each player with his or her own screen.

This is a great game for fans of The Legend of Zelda. It is a port of the WiiU version of the game with all the dlc included. It is a lot of fun and gives the player the chance to play as many characters from the beloved series. Highly recommended.

Excellent gameplay, tons of content, plenty of playable characters/weapons.

Packed with content and extremely fun to play, Hyrule Warriors is a worthy entry into the Zelda AND Warriors franchises. It has all of the memorable characters and locations of Zelda with all of the mindless, minion-slaughtering action of Dynasty Warriors. The story is passable, though not remarkable. What really makes this game worthwhile is the truly enormous amount of extra content. While there are already plenty of characters to choose from, most of those characters have several weapon types, each with completely unique movesets, so in a sense there's double the amount of characters that it initially seems like there are. Weapons are customizable with numerous ability slots, all of which which can be mixed and matched for special bonuses and attributes. In a world where $60 games often last for only 8 hours or so, Hyrule Warriors is a total bargain at any price. Its content is rich and varied and keeps a dedicated player occupied for dozens, possibly hundreds of hours. All of the series favorites are here and playable: Zelda, Link, Sheik, Impa, Midna, Ruto, Ganondorf, and more. There are even a few original characters with enjoyable movesets, as well. Some might say that the gameplay gets too repetitive after a few hours, but if you're the kind of person who absolutely loves the Dynasty Warriors formula of battling thousands of enemies in a huge battlefield with objective-based gameplay and tons of unlockable weapons, then there is a lot to love here. Perfectionists will play above and beyond the call of duty in order to get a perfect weapon of every type for each character, and even those of us who aren't so inclined will find plenty of enjoyment from the extra modes. Hyrule Warriors ranks up with Smash Bros. and Donkey King: Tropical Freeze as a must-own game for the Wii U. If you can find it, buy it.

Hyrule Warriors is a super fun and charming game. It's really easy to pick up and play, but also has enough variety to keep you engaged for hours on end. Worth checking out even if you're not really a Zelda fan as the Zelda aspect is really just the aesthetic icing on top of an already great game (rather than a cheap gimmick to lure in unsuspecting fans). On the other hand, if you are a Zelda fan who is new to "hack n slash" or Warriors-like games, this could serve as a great introduction to the genre. Even if you already bought the original on the Wii U, I would still highly recommend getting the Switch version because it adds quite a lot of new content (playable characters, enemy types, boss enemies, story maps, adventure maps, and fairy mechanics) as well as some ... MoreHyrule Warriors is a super fun and charming game. I LOVE HYRULE WARRIORS!
27 February 2023

I absolutely love this game. It’s a pure burst of nostalgia. It’s also a weird fresh take on The Legend of Zelda franchise. I really wish we got more offshoot Zelda games like this. LOZ tactics game? I would buy it. LOZ shooter? I would buy it. LOZ match 3 puzzle game? I would take off work and play it the first day. More like this please! The disc was pristine and plays well. The box and artwork have some cosmetic flaws, but nothing major. VERY satisfied with my purchase.

I was not prepared
22 December 2019

I played the Wii U version, buying the majority of the DLC with Nintendo's Season Pass. I never 100% completed the game, growing bored with it shortly after finishing the main story, so I sold the game. Some time later I find myself missing the nonsensical fighting and picked up this for my Switch. My experience with the Wii U version did not prepare me for the differences. The game has been out long enough that an internet search can pull up the major differences. Some, I like, some, I don't. I've only played three battles so far so I haven't really seen all the changes yet. The majority seem to be for the better, improving gameplay and whatnot.

Bought this because my kids love Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, they've recently started playing the Wii U more, so I thought they might enjoy this. It hasn't failed to keep them occupied. My oldest enjoys it very much.

Not Age of Calamity
26 December 2020

THIS IS NOT AGE OF CALAMITY Buyer beware: this is not the same game as the recently-released "Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity". I was excited to find the game for $10 cheaper here than everywhere else. However, only after downloading it for my son on Christmas morning did I realize that I had bought the "Definitive Edition", which is a re-release of a Hyrule Warriors game from a previous console - not Age of Calamity. And, of course, digital video games are non-refundable. So now Target has an extra $49.99 and my son has both Hyrule Warriors games :) I'm sure it's a great game, but make sure it's the right one first.

If you're a hack n slash fan, you'll find that this game does it well. It improves on some of the shortcomings of the Dynasty Warriors/Samurai Warriors series and ramps up the action to bring KOs into the thousands. The ability to run (ie get across the map without needing a horse) is critical, as are the selections of secondary weapons, big bosses, and various unlockables/side-quests. This game will keep you as busy as any of the classic DWs without the feeling that you're grinding your life away. Taking the story from ancient China/Japan to Hyrule is the biggest drawback: seeing Zelda characters meet each other in such strange ways pales in comparison to the Romance of the Three Kingdoms and you never really care about what's actually going on during the battle. ... MoreIf you're a hack n slash fan, you'll find that this game does it well.
