This is a great Entry Level Semi Hollow Guitar. I bought the smaller lighter (under 8 lbs) AM53 instead of the AS53 and I am glad I did. If you are getting older like me and cant hold a heavy guitar up for as long as you used to then this guitar is perfect. For the $299.00 price tag it is a huge guitar for the money in spite of it's size. With American Musical Supply the guitar was in stock and arrived in two days unscathed. Finally the 3 payment plan makes it easy on the pocketbook so if you are on the fence about this gun then by all means pull the trigger. I name all my guitars and this one has been christened 'Pocahontas"! Thanks American Musical Supply!!

One of the major benefits to this very reasonably price electric guitar, is it’s light weight, ideal for performing on stage and rehearsals standing upright! I don’t mind the flat finishes of these semi-hollow bodies, as it’s tone and neck, supper cede any visual aspects and preferences, a guitar aficionado may have. Full, resonant, clean and overdriven Claptoni-ish Fillmore East sustain is all right here for you. ES335 vibe that won’t break the bank! Get yours now!

I purchased the TF (brown) version. I played other semi-hollows, I kept preferring the AS53 or AM53, AM73 Ibanez models. The Epiphones were very nice but preferred this one. Bought the "AM" version because it is a slightly smaller body and overall length but by no means a small jazz guitar. Just about right. Intonation was perfect out of the box. The bridge pickup was silly high, but that was easily adjusted. Nice job Ibanez.

Bought one of these last December from PMT and it is still my go-to favourite guitar despite considerable choice! Great tone for blues and jazz, and being a semi, gives out great sound volume unamplified if you need to deep the noise down. Can't fault the build and everyone who has picked it up loves it too. Prefer this size to the larger AS style. Comfortable light and easy to handle and play, with no uncontrollable feedback often a feature of semis.
This is a great value guitar - a true bargain when you consider the quality of the workmanship. It's also not just another ES-335/339 copy but a distinctive and beautiful instrument in its own right. I've been very impressed with it so far. I was also very impressed with the service I received from DV247. Yes, I'd seen some iffy reviews but it was the best price I could find online and the guitar arrived quickly and in perfect condition. What more can you ask? No grumbles from me.
Was looking for a good but low cost electric guitar. I am older and have played on and off for years. I have a great acoustic guitar but wanted an electric. Of course I opted to buy a Gibson Les Paul, but, it was out of stock and the factory was behind during the height of the Covid 19 outbreak. SO I ordered this guitar on advice from my son who is a serious musician. It is beautiful and sounds great.. Very easy to play even if you have meat hook hands like mine. I got this guitar and cancelled my Les Paul order. OF course I am buying a nice Les Paul and an American made Strat. I like the higher end stuff.. BUT, this guitar is more than good enough for anyone. I have owned it almost a year now
My brother has an Ibanez similar to this one which got me browsing to see their offerings. This particular guitar is smaller than the other Ibanez semi-hollows and ES335 style guitars in general but not as small as a Les Paul.My guitar came with great low action right out of the box and I am really liking the neck profile which is very similar to a Gibson Les Paul 60's neck.Cosmetically the guitar is perfect keeping in mid is a flat or rubbed finish, a very well built guitar.I will be replacing the pickups since the stock are uncovered and have ceramic magnets. the tuners will suffice, they are budget tuners but the quality is good enough. If tuning is a problem probably I would replace the nut first but I would hate to do that because the action is perfect on ... This guitar seems very impressive for the price. Very well constructed, not a flaw to be found. It is really nice looking, the Flat Sunset Red with the cream binding is very pleasing to the eye.The frets were fine as it came, perfectly level and no sprout, but I dressed the ends and polished and now they are as good as I could want. The tuners are better than I expected, lubricated the nut and saddles and it keeps tune very well. Intonation was very close out of the box and easy to perfect. The pickups sound really good to me, can get a nice range of tones.Looks great, sounds great, comfortable to play... I'm very pleased with my purchase.
Overall:This guitar shows off how the adversity of a semihollow and an Ibanez can meet in the middle to create an amazing duo of sound and quality. It isn't amazing once you start to move onto higher levels of playing but it is still flexible enough to serve good use to both intermediate and entry-level players. It feels well-refined with a neck that supports and works with your hand. The fretboard is not the most amazing part and can be improved on with a bit of work, but all in all, works well for the job.
Overall:Thanks again zZounds for fast, efficient service and your awesome payment plans! I've literally done the 'Pay To Play' thing with you guys about a dozen times now; I have some nice equipment that I would've had to save up for, or had to forego completely because of cost. Your return policy is awesome: the very few times I've ever gotten a defective product, you either replaced it promptly or refunded my money. Outstanding!!!Now, to the Ibanez AM 53: I am truly amazed at the quality that is present in this guitar for the $299.00 cost! First, lets hit the basic, "must-haves" for a playable & enjoyable guitar: 1. Truss rod adjusted properly; Yes! 2. Frets level, no dead spots, no sharp ends; Yes! 3. Electronics function quietly & correctly; Yes! 4. Decent, ... MoreOverall:Thanks again zZounds for fast, efficient service and your awesome payment plans! First, lets hit the basic, "must-haves" for a playable & enjoyable guitar: 1. Truss rod adjusted properly; Yes! 2. Frets level, no dead spots, no sharp ends; Yes! 3. Electronics function quietly & correctly; Yes! 4. Decent, playable strings from factory; Yes! 5. Smooth, well-executed neck; Yes! Subjectively, I find the 'Matte Gloss' type of finish on this guitar beautiful. The finish is also objectively very easy on the hands, as the back of the neck is smooth, and easy to move around on. I find the sound from the pickups to be very good, especially at this price range. To my ears, they do lack a bit of 'sparkle', maybe, but it's not anything to complain about at this price! In fact, when I finally get around to changing pickups (if I do), they will cost approx 2/3 the cost of the whole guitar! The pickups sound good both clean and distorted, and with the Volume knob all the way up, along with the Tone backed down a bit gives a decent amount of 'growl' for a guitar of this style, especially into a decent tube amp. This guitar even sounds decent played purely acoustically: I love not necessarily needing to plug in just to try out an idea; I can get the feel of an electric while having a semblance of the sound of a real acoustic. My friend has an acoustic guitar amp, and I can't wait to hear it through that. Overall, easily one of the best purchases of a new guitar I've ever made. Highly Recommended!
