Ibanez EHB1505MS Bif Multi-Scale Electric Bass - Black Ice Flat

Let me start by saying that the instrument itself is gorgeous. The fanned frets are easy to get used to and the tonal possibilities are endless.

FantasticThis thing plays and sounds great - incredible low end but still has a ton of bark to cut through. If I had to pick a negative it is that it isn't the best for my style of slap, but I've got another bass to use to fix that situation. Other than that, this thing is great - check out some youtube videos so you can hear how it sounds!

I have only had it for a few weeks, but the first thing I noticed about my new Ibanez EHB1505MS 5-string bass was its light weight as compared to other basses in my panoply. It is still not as light as say a Strandberg Boden Bass 5, but it comes close and is about half the price.The bass feels good in my hands as far as ergonomics and the fanned fret design is easy on my fretting hand. The flat finish seems to enhance every imperfection in the wood and there are a few.The tuning mechanisms are very well thought out as far as getting the bass intonated and ease of adjustment over the whole string (something the pricey Strandberg lacks in my opinion).The Nordstrand Custom Big Split pickups have a great sound and the controls are easy to figure out after playing for a bit. The strings and bridge are well grounded and there is no evident ground hum (something that drives me crazy on other basses).The EGB1505MS is fast becoming one of my favorite basses.

This bass is hands down one of the best basses I have ever purchased. There are so many tones you can achieve with the eq and the pickups are so versatile. Wood choices are perfect. And of course, with American Musical’s payment options, it makes this a no brainer.

Amazingly well balanced and killer tone.

This is literally the best of all Ibanez basses crammed into one fast playing, huge sounding, low profile instrument.Years ago I pre ordered the first Ibanez fanned fret bass and found it headstock heavy, but this resolves that issue.This bass is perfectly balanced sitting or standing, as well as extremely lightweight and huge sounding.It came set up extremely low just at the edge of fretbuzz when played aggressively, which gives it a great growl.The spacing is great for slapping and the electronics are crystal clear with a huge wide range.As for fanned fret, it is better balanced than my old SR805ff and so much lighter as well as faster playing than my Dingwall and almost as tight on the low B.

Awesome bass, well worth the price.

When I picked up the box, I thought it was empty. This bass is SO light. Finish is great, but the neck is what stands out. It just feels solid. Tone is great, very modern.

Boutique style bass at a great value

I can't find a single thing wrong with the bass, I've tried!!! I am a traditional Fender bass guy, always have been. Recently, when I was in the market for a new bass, I started looking at what's new. I have tried all of the American Fenders currently out there and I was NOT impressed to say the least. I've played Squiers that sound and feel better than what the Corona shop has been putting out the past few years. My son, who is 20, is really into multi-scale basses and I recently became interested in them through him and his Dingwall Combustion. I found the EHB line by Ibanez and instantly became obsessed. This bass feels, sounds, and plays far superior to any Fender currently out there. I cannot even begin to tell you how many tones you can get out of this! I'm still finding new sounds and they all sound clear as a whistle thanks to the Nordstrand pickups, which I'd put against any Fender pickups out there, no comparison. This is a boutique quality bass, do not mistake these for mid-tier Ibanez SR stuff, which are still good in their own right. I'd put these head to head with any far more expensive Dingwall or Spector. The materials are top notch!!!

EHB1505MS - the perfect bass

Overall:I'm not a fan of headless instruments but soon as I saw this shape it called out. I decided to get the tropical seafloor instead of the flat back variant because of the Nordstrand pickups - I made the right call. I have another Ibanez bass with the bartolinis in it and that bass is awesome - but wow this bass is so much better. It sits perfect, doesn't move. The pickups bring so much clarity and tonal control. Best bass I've ever owned or played.

This bass sounds and plays amazingly well. As my first 5 string, I am in love! She's easy on the eyes, and nowhere near as expensive as anything with the same level of features. I wish I could have a 6 string model as well!

Love this low end Monster!

Overall:Alright so my previous three decades of basses featured Fender Jazz bass types, or a Gary Willis signature Ibanez and much more. When I played my Fender Geddy Lee MIJ in a cover band last year, it was good but it did get my percussive Jaco style and desired slap tones out of it. Switched to a Sire PJ swamp ash that was better: the active pre was the way to go. Then I played a premium Ibanez one day- did a studio recording with it and loved the modern vibes; a blend of all that good stuff! It was until I saw this Seafloor EHB1505 that I got the bug: I had to get that and I did! zZounds delivered it and boy did it punch! The only thing that I personally experienced is that the polar burl the paint tends to flake off pretty quick so you have kinda like that used look after a few weeks in the slap area. But I think its looking awesome like its nitro relic like the road worn series.
