I purchased this guitar about a year ago and love everything about it. It has great action and feels really smooth when playing. The tone sounds great. I have played it through a Fender Twin Reverb and it sounds really good. I plan on eventually purchasing a Vox AC15. I recently had it setup and swapped the bridge for the wood bridge that it comes with and put on Thomastik-Infeld Vienna JS110 Flats and so far so good! The only complaint that I have is that after only having it a year I already need a little bit of fretwork done around the 10th to 12th fret. However I do play it at gigs and practice daily at a minimum of 2 hours a day sometimes upwards of 4 and live in upstate New York. So this could be just normal wear and tear. This guitar plays like a dream straight out "of the box!"Tuned it - and played it immediately. As a classical guitarist by training, this guitar "feels" so right in hand and the contour of the fingerboard feels slim to me ( & I don't have large paws !!!). Purchased to develop my "jazz" repertoire, I'm confident this instrument ticks all the boxes. Looks lovely too!

This guitar will surprise you for the price and looks! I took it out of the box and simply plugged it in and got an amazing tone! Both pickups sound amazing and loved the ability to control individual volume with ease! The knobs that come with this guitar are simply quality! The neck and thicker radius is truly jazz style specs that make your playing fun! First week with it and taking it to my first gig and will definitely be one of my go to guitars in my collection! Highly recommend this for a serious guitarist needing to add a jazz tone without hurting the bank account!

I received one of LGB30 (Nat) models a couple of weeks ago as a ‘blemish’ product — on inspection, I have only noticed minor color inconsistencies on the back of the guitar body - and only when inspected under intense light. This is a remarkably beautiful guitar, with Ibanez having paid attention to little details from the inlaid saddle to perfectly set and finished frets and smooth binding. It came with a set of flat wound strings — which I had never played before, but may now be a convert to. The setup on this guitar was perfectly low with no fret buzz anywhere as you scale the guitar’s neck.I’ve owned this guitar now for 2 1/2 weeks, and look forward to picking it up every day.
Actually....this guitar has changed years of how I approach the electric guitar. As an almost strictly Telecaster player with the occasional Les Paul, Strat, SG, and good bit of TaylorI finally decided to see what a jazz style guitar would be like in my collection and I have fallen in love with flat wound heaven. Since the 60's I remember heavy gauge flat wounds to be tough on the fingers but the action set up perfect and the feel of this extremely high quality guitar I have found myself playing it constantly and being inspired to think melody more than riff. This guitar is awesome. Thanks Ibanez. Thanks Musician's Friend!!!
Just Wow!!! I used to have a Gibson ES-175 for like 15 years and this guitar totally crushes this! It has a spruce top (heat pressed?) that is resonant and sounds amazing. I've played many of the cheaper archtops which are impressive for the price but this guitar is probably the best guitar on the market if your looking for a full hollow body type sound(think L5) If you get a bad one just keep returning it until you get one that your happy with. Sometimes you will get an occasional guitar that has shoddy fretwork but just make sure you don't buy someones open box and get it directly from the warehouse.
Sound:I’m using this guitar for some jazzy & bluesy recordings and the rich deep midranges and lows I get from it, are perfect for the arrangements.. I used her for a few cover songs where a much more expensive Gibson ES-335 is being used and it plays the parts perfectly fine..Overall:Amazed at the “attention to detail” as far as the design and look of this guitar. The sound that gorgeous beast made when I played that first chord, just tugged at me.. perfect for some recordings I’m working on. however, it did say some blemishes, which I was fine with. I knew I would probably have to give it a little maintenance or some sort of tweaking.. I did two things, I replaced that plastic nut, with a raw bone nut, and I gave her a nice fret job, some of the ends were a little rough and the frets had these funky scratches that drove me crazy on bends. Nevertheless, it’s perfect now! She is staying with me forever, along with my Gibson LP Supreme. The other guitars I have are in constant rotation.
I have a number of guitars, some more than 50 years old that still play beautifully. Many of my guitars are much more expensive than the LGB30, but I decided to purchase this "inexpensive" guitar for fingerstyle and jazz playing, because it was rated highly by numerous purchasers. The guitar I received looks, feels, plays, and sounds like a more expensive guitar. Whether or not it will still be playing well fifty years from now I can't say, but it certainly does not disappoint now. The instrument needed no adjustments for my playing style, and intonation is perfect. (Just be careful when you remove the foam from under the bridge to maintain the bridge position). I really like the sound of the instrument and the action is very conducive to my playing style. The neck ... MoreI have a number of guitars, some more than 50 years old that still play beautifully. I really like the sound of the instrument and the action is very conducive to my playing style. The neck is comfortable for my hand, and the body style is also comfortable. Fit and finish are perfect, no blemishes, no sharp fret edges, no fret unevenness, no rattles or buzzes. I couldn't be more pleased with this guitar. It is better out of the box than some of my more expensive guitars were when I bought them. I'll just have to wait and see how it holds up over the years, but it is definitely a keeper now, and a great value.
Not sure why my experience was so different than other reviewers on this guitar. I ordered a sunburst and couldn't wait to get it. I have a lot of guitars, mainly solid bodies, but I started getting into jazz and wanted a jazz guitar. I have a few other Ibanez guitars and have been mostly impressed with the quality. This guitar is a different story. I opened it up and the first thing I saw was that the covering on the case was split badly in one place. No big deal. It's just a case. The guitar looked great and sounded great. But then I noticed that the neck had way too much relief in it (bowed upwards). Ok, I went to adjust the truss rod and found that it was completely loose. That was completely unexpected. Seems like nobody even looked at it before it left Ibanez. ... MoreNot sure why my experience was so different than other reviewers on this guitar. But then I noticed that the neck had way too much relief in it (bowed upwards). Ok, I went to adjust the truss rod and found that it was completely loose. That was completely unexpected. Seems like nobody even looked at it before it left Ibanez. I adjusted the truss rod to specification. After I did that, I found that there was a burr on the 3rd fret that would catch the second string. Also, several frets high on the neck were high, causing severe buzzing when the action was set to spec. That one went back. I wasn't going to put the kind of work required into a guitar that cost this much. MF sent a second one. Same truss rod situation - completely loose, too much bow. Adjusted that out and found high frets 13, 15 and 17. Back that one went too. I switched to a D'Angelico EXL-1. A world of difference! No problems with that guitar. Ibanez needs to pay more attention to the set up and finishing touches. Very disappointed in Ibanez. Much thanks to Musician's Friend for making the return process easy!
