I bought this bass originally to play in a death metal/metalcore band that tuned to Drop A AND to play in my University's Pep Band. It did not disappoint for either. For the metal band, this bass provided plenty of low-end playing in standard BEADG and Drop A tunings, but if I didn't have enough, I had plenty of tone options to help me out. The three-band EQ allowed me to fine tune the tone, whether it was adding more bass, scooping the mids, or rolling off the treble. For my university's pep band, this thing fit right in! For a five string, the bottom four strings were just as easy and comfortable to play as the top (B), it sounded just as if I was playing a regular old four string. Adding a bit of bass with the 3 band EQ, it produces a warm sound that is unbeatable! For my first 5-string, I think it was a very good purchase for the money. Plenty of tone options, easy playability, and all the hardware is super solid (knobs are good, tuning is TIGHT, etc). In addition, this bass is beautiful. I added a solid black stripe down the center of my Pearl White and it looks PHENOMENAL. Very happy with this purchase.

Not sure why this bass is at the price point it is because it definitely feels like a superior instrument. I would have happily paid about £800-£900 for this bass. It's very comfortable to play. I've set it up and got the action super low and fast without any fret buzz. It comes with a nice set-up anyway so it's playable straight out of the box. This bass holds its tune very well and the intonation is spot on.The EQ works as expected and there is a blend knob, and also a switch for the power output of the pickups. The pickuos are powerful. You can get a nice clean sound from them but my go to sound has a bit of growl and these pickups do that fantastically.I honestly can't think of a bad thing to say about this bass. I feel like I've ripped of PMT for getting it ... MoreNot sure why this bass is at the price point it is because it definitely feels like a superior instrument. I ordered this bass by express delivery and it arrived the next day by UPS. It was very well packaged and the outer box was in perfect condition which is always a good sign. The instrument is flawless and well made. It's the second instrument I have bought by Ibanez and the third I have bought from dv247. Whilst not an expert player, I'm not a novice either and found the setup most satisfactory indeed - right out of the box. I can't put it down! I bought it for laying down tracks on music software for which it is perfect. Sound wise, there is an excellent variety of tones that can be accessed with ease. I would recommend this bass for beginners to intermediate players as I imagine that accomplished bassists would probably want to spend more. That said, the bass ... I spent a few weeks trying out basses at my local music stores before settling on this bass. What set this bass apart from the others was the tone and the various tones I could get out of it, as well as it's playability. The active EQ is far better than the passive EQ's that I find on other basses. For example, the EQ on Jackson basses are all but useless. There was very little tone difference when varying the EQ controls on Jackson basses. But on this Ibanez, you really hear the difference in the tone settings. The Ibanez has a bass, mid, and treble tone control. So you can really dial in the tone you're looking for. Also, the individual string height adjustment on the Ibanez lets me tailor the action to exactly how I like it. The guitar is well balanced weight ... Also, the individual string height adjustment on the Ibanez lets me tailor the action to exactly how I like it. The guitar is well balanced weight wise and so hangs naturally when I play it. I have a BC Rich mockingbird bass which is terribly weighted ad the headstock drops to the floor if I don't have my fret hand supporting the neck. The string spacing on the Ibanez 5 string is good, and I can still play slap bass on it. All the knobs on the bass (except the volume knob) have a mid point that you can feel as your adjusting the tone controls, so you know exactly where "flat" is. I really like that feature.
I needed a bass for my music projects, and after a bit of research found the sr305e. I've played guitar for over 20+ years with all types of instruments that varying in quality and build. This bass fits right into the array. Sweetwater did some additional work setting it up(grateful). Awesome instrument for the price. Great tonal possibilities with the power tap switch, and all the eq knobs. -If you can play, this is a great build, with a great finish, good feel, and many tonal options.- Thanks again to sales rep Jake T. and the sweetwater team for helping me bring it home.
Features: It has a nice weathered finish and 22 frets, Aghatis body and a maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard. The bass is very solid for it's price and even though I treat it roughly, there's not a spot on the finish. The bridge is good for the price, though the G string gets out of tune quite often. The bass features 2 pickups, one J-style and one P-style, both active, and along with the 2 volume pots it has an additional treble and bass boost pots, which gives it a great variety of tones. Overall it's pretty decent as a budget bass. // 8Sound: I play lots of different genres, from funk to thrash, but I tend to lean towards the heavier stuff. The neck pickup is great for the heavier lines, especially when using a pick. The bridge pickup has a wonderful, sharp tone. The ability to mix both pickups, along with the active boost, gives the user plenty of options sound-wise. I use both fingers and pick, rarely slap it though, and although the sound is decent, it really bugs me that it has a certain "volume jump" while playing, especially with fingers, and it can cut through a mix easily, which can be pretty annoying. I use a Laney RB3 Richter Bass amp with it, and it really has a nice punch while distorted, easily capable of playing Motorhead-style lines. // 7Action, Fit & Finish: The bass came with a nice setup, had no complaints there except for the action which was way too low. The guitar didn't have any major flaws besides the low action. The only thing that really annoyed me is the fact that the screws are virtually nailed in butter, and after a few days with a strap one of them just popped out. Worst part is that it happened to me while performing, and we had to stop so I could fix it. Still has some duct tape on the long horn of the guitar. But that aside, it's pretty well constructed. // 7Reliability & Durability: I've played it live a couple of times, jammed out in the HOT desert sun, and it withstood it like a rock. I jumped and went crazy with it and it just took it all without any scratch, so yeah, I think it's definitely capable of doing live performances. The hardware doesn't seem like it's going somewhere, overall it's solid and in decent shape even after years of abuse. The strap buttons, as I mentioned earlier, are the weakest link, and I advise you all to use them safely, perhaps even have them replace. I wouldn't use it in a gig without a backup just because of the strap button issue, but that aside, sure. The finish is really solid, I have my share of instruments and even some of the more pricey ones can't match this finish quality, it's really something else. // 8Overall Impression: I play mainly heavy metal, but sometimes play alt rock and some other similar genres and this baby can pretty much cover it all. I don't know if I could recommend it to any professional since I'm only an intermediate player but It's a wonderful instrument for beginners and intermediate players. I've been playing for 1.5 years, didn't even take one day off. I own one ESP LTD AX-104 and A Squier Modified Vintage Bass, but I'd never sell this one, probably because I'm way too sentimental about my instruments. I don't have any regrets buying it, it served (and is still serving) me well. If it was lost - no, I wouldn't buy a new one, probably because It's more of a beginner's bass whereas I'm already past that stage, but I'd look everywhere to find this one again. I love the fact that it has a lot of sound options, this makes it very versatile, which is what I need. //8
Just starting out at bass guitar and after doing lots of research i knew i want this style of Ibanez. I settled at using PMT as i knew there was a store fairly local to me if i needed any support. So navigating my way around the website i found the style of guitar i wanted in a price range i was happy with. Choosing the colour was easy as i always wanted a white guitar. However the website does list this as “white” when in fact its a pearl white which most people looking for a white guitar i personally think would avoid a pearl white guitar, especially when you play metal lol. Was too late by now and no solid white finishes are available in this model. Other than that its very easy to use, the eq dials are great and you can feel the positions in them which is ... Was too late by now and no solid white finishes are available in this model. Other than that its very easy to use, the eq dials are great and you can feel the positions in them which is awesome. The main reason i went for this style of bass is the looks. Most bass guitars in my opinion are ugly shaped and this guitar is beautiful
Bass looks and feels great to me, but this is my first bass so I cannot say to much regarding it's tone quality relative to other bands or models. I also have not changed the strings on it, yet, but it is a very satisfying instrument so far.The one star loss for me is in the electronics.First, while I'm new to bass, I'm not new to filters and amplifiers. The 3-band EQ does not seem to be designed for the frequency range of the bass guitar. Adjusting the Bass Cut/Boost has a somewhat extreme effect on the output, while the Treble Cut/Boost has little if any effect. To me, this suggests that the EQ is a generic module that could also be found on regular guitars and might even be better suited for them. Now, this is basically the entry level model for the SR family ... To me, this suggests that the EQ is a generic module that could also be found on regular guitars and might even be better suited for them. Now, this is basically the entry level model for the SR family basses, as I understand, but I still would have been more impressed if the effect of the EQ had been more evenly distributed between Bass/Mid/Treble.The second point of slight disappointment is with the Balance control. When the Balance control is adjusted to favor either pickup, some high frequency noise appears. However, since the Treble knob doesn't do much to the sound of the bass overall, the good news is that you can use it to cut the noise without having to worry about completely changing your tone. So, in summary, I've found two minor flaws, but being able to use the first one to manage the second one is good enough for me. I don't regret my purchase at all, and I think I could still recommend this as a nice bass under $500. (for whatever the word of a novice may be worth)
I played the Ibanez SR300E bass guitar along with several similar instruments in the shop. I returned about a week later to make the purchase. Unfortunately I had to return to the shop several days later as the action required adjustment. This was quickly rectified while I waited.
Unexpectedly nice looking bass. 2 piece fllamed maple body with a darker burst than the website photos suggested. Not bookmatched, but a nicely figured body.Super versatile preamp and nice sounding, powerful and noise free pickups.Fast, slim neck and good quality hardware.I've tweaked the set up over a couple of weeks and it's playing really well.A far nicer bass than I expected for the price, after some playing in I think it will be better than my mid 90s SR.Very easy bass to set up, and the action can be brought down ridiculously low.
