So after two pairs of previous models that I had put my thumbs through pulling up in humid weather years ago ( not cheap) I finally got up the courage via a Chrissie present to go there again. They might have fixed the fabric failure issue but two hand washes in whilst traveling and done things are sliding out the leg hole that are not supposed to be. Bottom line, and I wish it was just my bottom sliding out, they lack enough elastic, tension, design cut or something to keep everyone place. It's a big don't do it from me.

Let me start off by saying I love Icebreaker. I have a lot of their clothing and for the most part love what they offer. But not so much with this underwear. I did like how light it was and the fact that after hand washing and wringing it out, it dries very quickly. So it should be good for travel, which is what I was hoping for. But I just didn't find wearing them comfortable. They kept "riding up" on me. And if they aren't comfortable, there is just not much sense in wearing them. So I'm afraid I just can't recommend the mens briefs.

Great stuff !

I hate boxers. I dislike boxers briefs. And short of women's undies there was nothing there for me hardly...Till now. I have worn wool forever. The last few years tho folks have been bringing more comfortable, less scratchy products to market. But not any underwear that I cared for. That's all changed. These new men's briefs are like the old cotton ones but wool. Before you say anything try these. Comfort, better than cotton. They seem to self regulate, warm when it's cool and comfortable when it gets warm out. If you like briefs and like comfort I am sure you gonna like these. Only bad thing I could say is they are a bit pricey. That said I usually wear 3 pair of cottons a day because of my sweat problem...but... one one pair of these a day. Icebreaker, I want you to succeed!!
29 November 2021

There's no clothing brand that I'm more invested in that Icebreaker. I probably have 20 pairs of briefs alone. Add up all those dollars. Why? Because they work. Or at least they used to. A few years ago Icebreaker cut costs by getting rid of the pouch that men depended on to carry their goods. That pouch made icebreakers amazingly comfortable. But hey we had to change with the times and they got rid of the pouch, creating a bit of compression. Now, they have changed their sizing. I've been a size M forever. Now size M is too small, and size L is just a bit too large. Why mess with perfection? Don't ask me. I did a test where I washed and dried a size L in the drier (not recommended fabric care) and it did shrink enough to feel like a size M should feel like. It's a very sad thing- I really want icebreaker to succeed but these design tweaks for no reason create a lot of hassle. You can see similar messages about the men's brief being changed everywhere.

Most comfortable underwear I've owned
22 August 2022

I've replaced most of my underwear with merino wool. It's a game changer, especially in a warmer months. I stay dry and the fabric is very comfortable.I do not, however, wear them multiple times between washings like I would my merino shirts. I'm sure you could from a smell test perspective, but that doesn't seem hygienic to me. To get more use and own less total pairs I soak and rinse them in my sink at the end of the day and they are dry by morning. After 2-3 days of that I place them in the hamper for a proper wash. Hang dry only. Through this cycle I've cut down to only a few pairs and it really works well for travel.

Not as good as they used to be!
15 November 2022

I have been buying Icebreaker products for nearly 20 years and noow only buy them out of habit. I must do some research to find a more hardwaring brand. They used to be brilliant! Worth the money as they really lasted so even at the price they are it was good value for money. Today, they get threadbare far too quickly and don't represent the value for money that they once did. Unfortunately a brand relying on a outdated reputation for quality that has failed to respond to my concerns.

Quality * Long Lasting * Comfort
31 December 2022

Regular cotton underwear my whole life until my first pair of Icebreaker briefs and I will never wear anything else. They work year round perfectly. I went a size up to allow for just a little more comfort allowing for some fabric shrinkage and that keeps them having the room if you are a decent size down there, that keeps everything in place without being overly tight.I wash and dry them just like every other piece clothes I have. I don't have time for extra underwear care and going up a size will help them as over about a year they do shrink but it's very little. I'm a 34ish waist 6'1.Try to catch them on sale. On a 1-10, 10 being the best I give them a 9 1/2. I own about 20 pair so I don't wash them to death.

So far so good

Black Friday sale. The first pair I purchased fit the Icebreakers description and met my expectations so I ordered more while on sale at 30% off. I am 6' 1 at about 208 pounds. I went went with the XL. Fit is good and gives you room for the family jewels. Definitely cuts down on the heat and sweating while active. No barn door design makes sense, who uses that anyway. Once you start wearing wool (including other Icebreaker wool clothing) you can better understand and see the benefits all around so it makes sense to buy as much as you can afford to wear especially when its on sale. This review adds me to the sweepstakes but I was going to review anyway. They do not need to buy my opinion I'll tell you if it was good or a bad product either way. These are the bomb!
18 December 2022

Bought the briefs and love them. The fit is awesome and pocket holds well. I'm 5'10" - 158# and the briefs are form fitting and comfortable. Now don't go getting squeamish, but I have through hiked several times. I only change my daytime clothes weekly. Undies included. If you give all of your clothes rest time nightly and haven't soiled them, they won't smell. Anything merino wool ie; shirts, socks, pants, all layers and head wear. It is awesome! BTW wife loves merino wool too.Take it to heart,CootieJ

insufficient elastic around butt
16 June 2022

I've been wearing various brands of cotton briefs my whole life. Was excited to upgrade my life to merino so went all in and bought 6 pairs. BUMMER! spent over $200 on them and now have decided i cant bare them any longer. I've spent a couple weeks in them now and have been frustrated with the lack of elastic around the butt on them. The result is constantly having to fish them out of my crack as they do not hold around the butt cheeks. The fabric is very nice but i've found myself back wearing my cheap cotton ones. I find it distracting and annoying throughout the day having to pull out the wedgie all the time. comparing my cheap cotton ones to the elasticity on them does not compare. I would also suggest adding a bit more room to the front. they dont have much room in there for anything but this is not the point of my review. the real reason they are unwearable for me and i think others is the lack of butt edge elasticity
