I bought this as a relatively packable mid-layer to provide warmth on trail runs. It is my favourite mid-layer now and I reserve it for the days when I need its features such the three well made pockets and the thumb loops. Construction is of great quality and the vibrant cheerful colour makes me look good compared to the usual outdoor colours eg drab olives, gloomy blacks and angry reds etc. The baffle under the zip marks this out as a cut above the norm. It obviously does the job of keeping me warm and is soft and comfortable as well. Breathability is great.My only thougt now is "do I need a merino hoodie as well from icebreaker?"

Similar to other reviews I am suprised how badly Icebreaker messed up by (1) changing a nic, clean design by sticking a white logo on the garment. Now it looks off in a non-corporate environment and (2) zips which seem to continually jam. My last icebreaker zip up has simple zips and no visible log. The garmet itself is okay but on the chest pocket it never quite lays/sits flat, so really doesn't feel like the same quality as Icebreaker did in the past. Can't really recommend for the price.

Wear this in the house, out on walks and whilst playing golf. Wonderful feel of merino wool. Great snug fit, which I really like. Stretchy, so you can wear layers underneath. Of course, its warm. The colour is terrific, a feature of all Icebreaker products. Got it in the sale, so unbelievable value. Nothing to dislike about this. Have done and will always buy Icebreaker.

I love the warmth, and 100% merino feel. It fits me perfectly (S) for a mid layer, not too snug like the Descender mid layer top. I use if for higher output activities like winter running . The only quirk on this top, and others have mentioned it often, is the zipper! The zipper is very difficult to work, and gets stuck at the bottom when trying to zip up or down. In fact, it's so bad that I am afraid I will break it each time I open or close. It's a surprising quality issue from Icebreaker.
The white font on the arm - who thought that was a good idea? Terrible. The previously understated logos were much better and made the garment more suitable for athletic/outdoor wear and around the office. As others have said the zipper isn't so good. And the fabric doesn't seem to 'lie flat' around the chest pocket which makes it look a bit cheap. None of this is terrible but seems out of place for an expensive high-end garment.
Great fit for athletic frames. @ 6' 155lb - with broad shoulders/narrow waist. medium fits closely without being tight. Looks good enough to wear out. Would say that it's about 2x weight compared to decent merino long underwear. Should be a great/light/flexible mid layer for the slopes when paired with a base layer and a shell. Can probably forego the fleece on most days. Construction looks solid. Thrilled with my purchase.
I have the Merino Quantum II.The product fits great, but the main issue is around the sleeve cuffs / thumb holes. These frayed very easily, and really should be reinforced in next generation products.I wear this pretty much exclusively in an office setting, so it is not getting hard wear.Overall I am disappointed with this product, especially given the the quality of other Icebreaker products and the price point. I mentioned this to Icebreaker but their response was very generic.I suggest that you save yourself the trouble and buy one of their hoodies that do not have the thumb hole cuff. I need to try to replace the cuffs to keep the item looking professional...
Perfect extra layer for cooler indoor environments and very effective thin mid layer for cold or wet days. Medium fits my medium frame well, closely but not too tight. It layers really nicely under different outer layers. It's also my new favorite indoor layer. The Napoleon pocket is perfect for keeping your phone handy. The zippers on on three pockets are unobtrusive and very effective.
This is great except for the sizing. The top is a very long fit. I think IB could improve fitting with a lot of their range. I have a 40.5 inch chest, am 177cm and 75kg with a muscular frame (I'm a PT). I know I am more athletic than most but this makes me a 'large' by their guidance on the chest yet a medium in this is perfect except it can almost cover by backside in length! Also as far as their t shirts and base layers go I wear a small otherwise they are both far too baggy- base layers look like a sweater they are so loose. A small base layer is a good fit but still not a typical snug base layer fit. This is a really nice jacket from Ice Breaker. Comfortable as an insulating base layer under a shell. I also wear it indoors in the morning when the thermostat has been turned down over night. The fit is great and I like the understated color. I am happy with my IB purchase.
