This is the second Icebreaker Merino neck warmer that I have purchased. I simply would not survive winter without it. It just feels heavenly. Packs down nice and small when not wearing it. Stops the cold and sneaky winds from creeping in. Soooooo much better than a big bulky scarf. I thought it was a little pricey when I first bought it, but it's worth EVERY penny. Putting it on makes me excited to go outside and battle the cold. I just bought one for my partner. Highly recommended :)

I shoot sporting clays, skeet, and trap twice a week all year round in CANADA. It is essential to keep warm for concentration and maximum dexterity, however, without cumbersome heavy clothing that can disrupt gun handling. The Marino wool neck gator keeps my neck warm and can function as a balaclava for face/head protection during inclement weather conditions with a minimum of bulk.I highly recommend the Icebreaker Unisex Merino Flexi Chute Neck Gaiter for anyone that desires maximum flexibility and mobility while active outdoors in cold weather.

I have previously bought the flexi chute elsewhere and love the quality of the material and versatility of the product. I use it as a neck gaiter and it looks great with so many clothes. Unfortunately the one icebreaker sent me arrived very creased and gives me the impression it has been worn before (or at least a poorly processed return). I expect better customer service than this...I attached a photo of what they sent me.

I purchased the Apex and the regular Flexi Chute together. They arrived in the worst packaging job I have ever seen, AWFUL! The Apex arrived on the hard cardboard carrier crumpled into the tightest ball one could squeeze, obviously intentional. About a one inch stain on the Apex. The long regular Flexi was weaved so tightly on its carrier I could hardly remove without damaging it. Both just thrown into a light cardboard sleeve for shipping. After almost ten years, eight pullovers and ten shirts my purchases with this company is over. Icebreaker is not the company it used to be years ago.
Trialled both this and the smaller Apex chute, and I preferred the Apex style over this. Whilst the length is longer and supposedly offers better coverage, it was too big on me and simply pooled to the base of my neck leaving it partially uncovered, and it was too loose to cover my face (albeit I'm a petite female). It's also less practical than the Apex chute which doubles up as a headband. I returned this and kept the Apex chute.

Granted the construction quality is top notch. It's just that the material, merino wool, doesn't perform great when exposed to the elements. I would not recommend wearing as a face mask. The first day I wore it on the slopes in Washington State, after a few runs, it froze to a shape that wouldn't cover my face without holding it up with my gloved hand. (Temp was 27 degrees F). On the ski lifts I noticed a chill coming through and didn't feel protected from the wind that was a lite breeze. I wear this EVERYWHERE and ALL THE TIME. It keeps my neck so nice and warm that it helps regulate my overall temperature and keeps it quite balanced and comfortable. It's not itchy, it's not terribly tight so it's loose enough to adjust yet not loose enough to make it feel useless. It's also versatile. When I forget hair ties and need my hair pulled back I can just use it like a headband and no hair comes in my face. During windy and winter months I'm wearing it and keeping much warmer without massive bundles of uneven scarves. It's lightweight and I forget that I'm wearing it, more often than not. It's just that comfortable.
Found this whilst researching for a sustainable present for my husband. He's just taken up walking and it appeared to fit the brief. Looked at previous reviews and decided to take the punt. Very pleased I did. It's warm and soft, without being too bulky, which I was a bit concerned about. He's very pleased with it and would highly recommend. Would have given 5* if delivery had been a bit shorter. Although I did receive updates, it was touch & go whether it arrived in time for Birthday. Would still purchase future products but will allow for a longer delivery date if time dependant.

impressive chute/gaiter which has shielded me from the wind and various flying bugs that get in my face during offroad bike rides and, well... really bug me. plus, the material is incredible; no itching and keeps the temperature just right in this winter to spring transition. discreet branding and impeccible quality. incentivises more rides where insects get in the way!
