I live up in Northwestern Ontario and our winters can be quite cold and these gloves do a great job as an extra inner glove layer.Even though they are 98% wool, the fabric feels more like a cotton than a wool. They are not itchy at all. However, much like a cotton glove would be, the top and bottom of the hand on the gloves are sewn together leaving a small amount of excess fabric. This extra raw cut fabric can be a little irritating to the sensitive skin between the fingers.I am a female with about average sized hands and opted for the XS. They fit great in the fingers. Maybe a tad small but I think the size up would be too big.The gloves have a narrow band around the cuff that it necessary to keep the gloves in place. I previously reviewed these at 5 stars for their comfort, softness, and flexibility for someone with Raynaud's disease. Also mostly because I was told if I did I would be entered into a contest. To be honest, these are not worth the price tag in the slightest. There are plenty of cheap Amazon and SportCheck liner gloves that will wear away after one winter season - the only benefit of these is that the Merino is softer than most synthetic materials. The build quality is equal, however. Im very disappointed to say that these have not completed a season of driving to and from work and walking to and from my car. My gloves have THREE holes from light usage. I have also not washed these, so that cannot be blamed as the cause. I hope the build quality is improved in the ... MoreI previously reviewed these at 5 stars for their comfort, softness, and flexibility for someone with Raynaud's disease. Took these and a pair of waterproof/windproof shells from Montbell to Patagonia O circuit. They saw 9 days of rain, snow, and wind and kept me perfectly warm except when they were well out of there intended range, even then they performed great. They wouldn't dry completely overnight in really cold/wet conditions (nothing would dry), but I hung them every night and they were dry enough to finish drying in my bra while getting breakfast ready and eating. I was super impressed with how warm my hands stayed even when they got wet. Ive got leather and polyester Hestras that these are replacing now.

Read the reviews that helped me so Iâm passing this courtesy along. I purchased these with bike riding on colder nights in mind. I find most winter bike gloves to be cumbersome and padded too thickly. These are rated for general use and they operate as such. They are particularly warm enough and extremely comfortable (without being bulky), which is hard to find in a âactiveâ use type glove. That being said, if youâre biking you may need to wear a grippy fingerless glove for more grip. I noticed some slippage on handlebar grips. But necessary to note I use canvas and most non rubber grips when cycling. Still something to consider if youâre cycling with these. The attachment clip is always a nice feature because losing one glove or the chance of them being separated in the off season or lost is a real misfortune without it. I highly recommend this glove. The price is fair for the quality, use and warmth of this glove.
I love Icebreaker merino everything.I bought these gloves last year, specifically for the fact that they are merino but most importantly, also because they supposedly had *gripping ability* with the silicon "dots" melted into the wool glove.Well, they are warm enough, but the dots don't cover enough of the palm and fingers. And, they only lasted ONE day of hiking and pushing a metal stroller/ sleigh bar. Specifically, only 3 hours. The silicon dots fell off or completely wore down to nothing. In ONE day! That's not good enough. Especially for the price.I don't recommend these gloves for gripping ANYTHING, which is what is supposed to differentiates these from the other wool gloves. Please Icebreaker, make these better at gripping, make the grippy areas more ... MoreI love Icebreaker merino everything.I bought these gloves last year, specifically for the fact that they are merino but most importantly, also because they supposedly had *gripping ability* with the silicon "dots" melted into the wool glove.Well, they are warm enough, but the dots don't cover enough of the palm and fingers. And, they only lasted ONE day of hiking and pushing a metal stroller/ sleigh bar. All the fingers!) and above all, more make these grip areas and materials MORE DURABLE!Thank you
I use the gloves for driving, they're good for keeping my hands warm in the fall/early winter. They don't work for me when the temperature is in the teens. If they made them thicker I think they would be fine when it's cold. They fit well and I appreciate the ability to use my phone without having to remove them. Overall a very good glove, just not when it's really cold.
This is my Fourth pair of Icebreaker Gloves. The first two are from many years ago and are more of a chunky wool knit type which eventually got holes in the finger tips. These ones are more a thin jersey type fabric. I wear a women's size 7 glove and the size small in these fits me fairly well but not quite as skin tight as I would like. I have tried XS but found the finger length not quite long enough. I kind of wish there were half sizes so I could get them properly skin tight, but these will do. My other pair are the Sierra from last year and they are apparently a little thinner but I can't really tell the difference. The great thing about these is that that touch pads on the fingers actually work! So I can use my phone without taking my gloves off. If it's ... MoreThis is my Fourth pair of Icebreaker Gloves. This variant was apparently intended to replace the older Tech Trainer Hybrid Merino wool gloves which are now discontinued. However it's noticeably not as good. Its wind protection is much much less; it lets more cold air in, compared to my Tech Hybrid Trainer pair which developed wear and tear holes. Even with holes the Tech Trainer gloves work well even at 0 deg C or minus 1-2C, but the Quantum without holes can probably handle lowest 5C at best. I wish Icebreaker would bring back the Tech Trainer Hybrid.
Ordered these in medium since small wasn't available at the time, but I am in between sizes anyway. The gloves do feel a little too big, especially when trying to use a touch screen with the extra material on finger tips causing some issue. I will try to perhaps shrink them a bit though. I would suggest following IceBreaker's advice and if you are in between sizes choose whether looser or tighter fit is for you.Other than that they are pretty good and much better than alternatives that I've used before. Don't expect them to keep you warm on their own when it's below below 0C, though they hold up quite well. The grip rubber bits help quite a bit - as you'd expect the merino wool is rather smooth and would make it difficult to grab a hold of things on its own. At the same time the rubber bits aren't touch friendly so middle and ring finger won't work on touch screens.Overall I'm happy with the purchase. Have some other IceBreaker clothing so I'm hoping the quality/durability will be the same over time as I continue to use the gloves.
I have purchased an untold number of light weight gloves over the years in a search for protection while cross country skiing while simultaneously having tactile connectivity with my cell phone. Historically, it had been a bust. These gloves however, Bingo. The quest has been reached. The gloves provide warmth via blocking direct exposure to the cold and retaining heat generated from exertion. I really do not like to fiddle with a digital device when I'm deliberately out and about in the hinterland, woods, and/or wilderness. If a situation necessitates using a phone or other touch activated device, at least I would not have to take these gloves off. Finally, the fit is excellent.
